2 Operating Manual Ex-Temp. Switch TS-10, TS-K, TS-KA General Temperature switch TS-xx is an electrical resource appropriate for hazardous areas designated to Directive 94/9 EG. Certificate of Conformity number is: PTB 00 ATEX 2203 X Marked according to Directive 94/9/EG: II 2 G Ex mb IIC T6/T5/T4 II 2 D Ex td A21 IP68 T80 C/T95 C/T130 C The temperature switch can be used where a potential explosion can be detonated through gases, vapors, fog or dust/air mixtures. Delivery Conditions TS-xx Ready for installation with operating instructions. Please contact the Schramm GmbH agent in case of a missing or damaged part, any arising technical question or required repairs regarding this product. We accept no responsibility for damage caused through inappropriate handling or by not following the operating instructions. Safety Instructions References marked in this way ensure avoidance of danger and protect personal health and life (as well as avoiding damage to device or causing a malfunction.) All installation must be carried out by an authorized and trained person following the relevant instructions, standards and regulations. Function The Temperature switch TS-xx is meant for on/off switching of electrical devices for controlling temperatures in protection boxes, switch cabinets and housings that are located in potentially hazardous atmospheres. A bimetallic button thermometer (temperature switch) set-point must be given at ordering time and this set-point value is fixed during the manufacturing phase. The bimetallic contact can be set at open (standard) or close. The breaking capacity is 250 V AC 6 A (1.9 A inductive). Built into an aluminum housing, the temperature switch is connected through a flexible cable (up to 2 m) fixed to the housing in an Ex clamped connection. Attach the Temperature switch in an area with a regulated temperature. The square nut can be removed. The TS-K / TS-KA will be fixed with a VA- mounting support. A power connection between cabinet and mounting plate/ cross assembly must be provided (equipotent bonding). To dismantle, deenergize the device, remove the electrical connections and loosen the fastening screws. Commissioning The TS-xx is exclusively meant for permanent locations and connection cables must be protected from mechanical damage. Protect the TS-xx from: - Vibrations - Direct sun light - Intense radiated heat - Corrosive chemicals - Strong electromagnetic fields The TS-xx is delivered operable from the manufacturer. To bring this equipment into operation, the following measures must be taken: Mount the TS-xx according to mounting/installation directions. Connect the lead-in. The temperature switch TS-xx shall be included in the general equipotent bonding system of the surrounding installation. Each temperature switch TS-xx shall be provided on the line side with a short-circuit in the form a fuse in compliance with IEC This fuse may be accommodated in the corresponding power supply unit or it shall be separately connected on the line side. The fuse voltage rating shall be the same or greater than the voltage rating specified for the thermostat. The breaking capacity of the fuse link shall be same or greater than the maximum short-circuit current expected at the place of installation (normally 1500 A). The ambient temperature range of the temperature switch TS-xx must not extended - 50 C and +80 C (design < 80 C type). Maintenance The TS-xx are high quality appliances and must be handled carefully. They are maintenance free. To clean, use a dry, lint-free cloth. In case of heavy dirt, use a mild, non-caustic cleaning fluid. Do not use insecticides or chemical products such as gasoline or solvents to clean the housing. Guarantee The legal regulations for guarantee apply for 12 months. All components are tested at the manufacturing site and marked with an Ifd number. Equipment and parts damaged through normal wear-andtear, improper handling and faults due to chemical or mechanical influences as well as altered labeling or other unauthorized changes to the equipment are not covered under this guarantee. We cannot offer a warranty to devices that have been repaired by unauthorized workmen. All claims must be inspected by our personnel first.
