2 Projektinhalte und -ziele: T H I R D M I S S I O N O F H E I Renewed Agenda for the Modernisation of Higher Education (2017) Priority: Building inclusive and connected higher education systems HEIs should be engaged in the development of their cities and regions, whether through contributing to development strategies, cooperation with businesses, the public and voluntary sectors or supporting public dialogue about societal issues. Outreach beyond the academic community in local languages should be incentivised and rewarded, including as part of career development. Some institutions are developing their profile as civic universities by integrating local, regional and societal issues into curricula, involving the local community in teaching and research projects, providing adult learning and communicating and building links with local communities Wirtschaftliche und soziale Aspekte in unterschiedlichen Bereichen

3 Projektinhalte und -ziele: T H I R D M I S S I O N O F H E I GAP: A European policy framework/approach to promote and assess community engagement in HE in a comprehensive and holistic way There are many pressures on HE institutions, but it is legitimate to demand of institutions with such advanced intellectual resources to address pressing social needs. There needs to be a better balance between emphasis on the HE s economic and social impact Such a complex task does require a strategic management approach at the university level Accountability tools in HE are a reality, and (although some are problematic) they can be used to achieve that policy Lücke schließen durch: Toolbox und Empfehlungen auf politischen Ebenen
