2 PLANK COMUNICATO STAMPA Come sempre Plank presenta con entusiasmo i suoi prodotti al Salone del Mobile. L azienda cerca di andare oltre la presentazione di semplici oggetti, proponendo più che un prodotto, un idea per vivere al meglio i propri spazi. Quest anno è l ampliamento della famiglia BLOCCO, disegnato da Naoto Fukasawa, il progetto che ha appassionato l azienda. La sedia nasce da un idea di semplicità data dalla sezione costante del legno che si ripete in proporzioni armoniose fino a creare l intera architettura della sedia. Il prodotto si declina sia come sedia che come poltroncina, in finitura naturale o colorata a poro aperto. Lo sgabello, ultimo nato, approfondisce il tema progettuale di grande rigore e dell attenzione alle proporzioni grazie ad un attento metodo di riduzione formale. L anello per il poggia piedi cambia materiale per estraniarsi dall architettura in legno, rimanendo sospeso e celando qualsiasi tipo di attacco o meccanismo di giunzione. Inoltre Plank quest anno si dedica alla presentazione dei prodotti più prestigiosi della propria collezione. Così l azienda ripercorre e esamina gli ultimi anni della propria storia, coronata di successi e di prodotti che hanno segnato la storia del Design Italiano. With enthusiasm, as always, Plank presents its products at the Salone del Mobile. The company seeks to go beyond the presentation of simple objects, suggesting more than just a product, rather an idea of how to enjoy your own space at best. This year the project that has passionate the company, is the expansion of the BLOCCO family designed by Naoto Fukasawa. The concept for the chair is the idea of simplicity given by the equal partition of the wood and its harmonious proportions which create the entire architecture of the chair. The product is declined both as a chair and armchair, in natural ash and in matt open grain colors. The stool, the last born product, enhances the great precision in the planning process and the attention to the proportions thanks to a careful method of formal reduction. The ring for the foot rest changes material to alienate its self from the wooden architecture of the stool pending and hiding any kind of fixation or joint mechanism. Moreover this year Plank is dedicated to the presentation of the most prestigious products of its collection. The company looks back at the last years of its history, rewarded with great success and with products that have marked the history of Italian Design. In diesem Jahr hat die Erweiterung der Familie BLOCCO, designed von Naoto Fukasawa, das Unternehmen begeistert. Die Idee für den Stuhl ist die Einfachheit in sich. Die gleichmäßige Aufteilung der Holzpartien und die harmonischen Proportionen gestalten die gesamte Architektur des Stuhls. Das Produkt gibt es sowohl in der Version als Stuhl als auch als Armlehnstuhl, in Esche Natur sowie in verschiedenen matten Farbtönen offenporig lackiert. Der Barhocker, der letzte Entwurf der Familie BLOCCO, zeigt die Präzision bei der Planung und die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Proportionen mittels sorgfältiger formaler Reduktion. Der Ring für die Fußstütze entfremdet sich durch sein anderes Material von der Holzarchitektur, er erweckt einen schwebenden Eindruck und verdeckt jede Art von Fixierung oder Verbindungsmechanismus. Außerdem präsentiert Plank dieses Jahr seine renommiertesten Produkte. Auf diese Art blickt das Unternehmen auf die letzten erfolgreichen Jahre seiner Geschichte zurück und jene Produkte, die zur Prägung des italienischen Designs beigetragen haben.

3 BLOCCO armchair / chair / stool Design: Naoto Fukasawa BLOCCO / poltroncina / sedia / sgabello Naoto Fukasawa per Plank ha interpretato una sedia completamente di legno che riflette la sua nota sensibilità a questo materiale naturale. La sedia Blocco si caratterizza con un esplicita essenzialità e diventa così una vera e propria immagine iconografica. Come suggerisce il suo nome, Blocco sembra scolpita da un unico pezzo di legno. Il risultato è una sedia elegante, attentissima alle giuste proporzioni. Lo sgabello, ultimo nato, approfondisce il tema progettuale di grande rigore e dell attenzione alle proporzioni grazie ad un attento metodo di riduzione formale. L anello per il poggia piedi cambia materiale per estraniarsi dall architettura in legno, rimanendo sospeso e celando qualsiasi tipo di attacco o meccanismo di giunzione. Tutti i prodotti della linea Blocco sono disponibili in frassino naturale e in diversi colori opachi a poro del legno aperto. Sia sedia che poltroncina sono impilabili per rispondere anche alle esigenze funzionali per ambienti pubblici come caffetterie e ristoranti ma si adattano anche perfettamente per l ambiente privato. Der Stuhl Blocco kennzeichnet sich im Wesentlichen durch das graphische Symbol eines Stuhls. Wie der Namen andeutet, scheint er wie aus einem einzigen Stück Holz geformt. Das Ergebnis ist ein eleganter Stuhl mit Aufmerksamkeit auf die Proportionen. 4 PALIO Design: Konstantin Grcic PALIO / sedia Per alberghi, ristoranti e non per ultimo anche per la casa Konstantin Grcic ha progettato la sua sedia di forma geometrica Palio. La particolarità dell oggetto è la seduta di cuoio, che è sospesa in un telaio di acciaio. Il cuoio comunemente è utilizzato per selle, cinture e imbracature perché è spesso e resistente. Anche Konstantin Grcic apprezza questo materiale solido, che è stato elaborato da artigiani italiani con grande maestria. È un materiale piacevole, molto consistente, che dura nel tempo, anzi diventa sempre più bello. Quello che mi piace in generale della pelle, è, che la si può modellare molto bene tridimensionalmente - come le scarpe o le selle delle biciclette. Grazie a queste caratteristiche, potevamo fare a meno di un imbottitura. Il guscio è composto da due strati di cuoio, che si adattano al corpo, ma che allo stesso tempo lo sostengono. Questo rende la sedia molto confortevole, dice il designer del suo progetto convincentemente semplice. Palio convince anche esteticamente: una cinghia di nylon come maniglia conferisce alla sedia un look moderno e quasi sportivo. Inoltre lo schienale marcato in ripetizione in un ambiente crea un accento visivo. La sedia è disponibile nei colori naturale e nero, le gambe delle sedie sono realizzate in alluminio anodizzato nero opaco. Destinazioni: Contract, gastronomia, casa e ufficio. This piece of furniture s most notable feature is its cupped seat of core leather suspended in a stainless steel-tube frame. Core leather is commonly used for saddles, belts and horse tack, because it is thick and hard-wearing. Konstantin Grcic also appreciates this robust material, which has been worked with great precision by Italian craftsmen. The designer says, It is an attractive, very sturdy leather that gains in beauty as it ages. What I really like about leather is how well it can be shaped three-dimensionally, like we know from shoes and bicycle seats. Because of these characteristics, we can completely dispense with upholstery and lining materials. Explaining the functional details of his design, he says, The seat shell simply consists of two stable leather layers that adapt to the body of the sitter, while still providing support. This makes the chair very comfortable. Palio is also impressive from an aesthetic point of view, its nylon handle lending the chair a modern, almost sporty look. Furthermore, when a number of chairs are lined up, for example in a restaurant, the striking backrests sets unique visual accents. Image: PALIO_03 PALIO / Stuhl Für Hotels, Restaurants und nicht zuletzt das private Esszimmer entwarf Konstantin Grcic seinen geometrisch geformten Stuhl Palio. Das besondere Merkmal des Möbelstücks stellt die Sitzschale aus Kernleder dar, die in einem Stahlrohrrahmen aufgehängt ist. Kernleder wird gewöhnlich für Sättel, Gürtel und Zaumzeug verwendet, da es dick und widerstandsfähig ist. Auch Konstantin Grcic schätzt das robuste Material, das von italienischen Handwerkern mit hoher Präzision verarbeitet wurde. Es ist ein angenehmes, sehr festes Leder, das mit dem Alter immer schöner wird. Mir gefällt an Leder generell, dass man es sehr gut dreidimensional formen kann so wie man es von Schuhen oder Fahrradsätteln kennt. Aufgrund dieser Eigenschaften konnten wir vollständig auf eine Polsterung oder Unterfütterung verzichten. Die Schale besteht lediglich aus zwei stabilen Lederschichten, die sich an den Körper anpassen, ihn aber auch unterstützen. Das macht den Stuhl sehr bequem, erklärt der Designer zu seinem überzeugend schlichten Entwurf. Auch in ästhetischer Hinsicht überzeugt Palio: Ein Nylongurt als Griff verleiht dem Stuhl eine moderne und fast schon sportliche Note. Darüber hinaus setzt die markante Rückenpartie bei einer seriellen Verwendung im Restaurant optische Akzente. Der Stuhl wird in den Farben Natur und schwarz angeboten, die Stuhlbeine bestehen aus mattschwarz eloxiertem Aluminium. Einsatzbereiche: Contract, Hotel, Wohn- und Officebereich. 5 DOTY Design: Ludovica + Roberto Palomba DOTY / sedia DOTY è una seduta composta di una struttura di legno massello lineare e due elementi autoportanti sedile e schienale in poliuretano rigido, che sono caratterizzati da un regolare pattern tridimensionale ispirato ai pannelli portautensili delle officine e dei luoghi del fare. Le linee minimal di DOTY sono interrotte da un dettaglio ergonomico nella parte alta dello schienale, che nella parte anteriore porta ulteriore comodità e nella parte posteriore include una maniglia. I colori suggeriscono DOTY per tante diverse situazioni. La sedia s integra perfettamente come seduta leggera nell ambiente casa moderna, ma anche per una caffetteria in un Hotel o nella zona sociale di un area ufficio. The minimal lines of DOTY are interrupted by an ergonomic detail in the upper part of the backrest, which in the front brings additional comfort and in the rear part includes a handle. The colors suggest the use of the product for many different situations. DOTY integrates as a fresh seating into the modern home but also for cafes located in a hotel or in social areas in corporate buildings. Application areas: Contract, Gastronomy, Living and Office. Die minimalen Linienführungen von DOTY werden durch ein ergonomisches Detail im oberen Teil der Rückenlehne unterbrochen, welches im Sitzbereich zusätzlichen Komfort verleiht und an der Rückseite einen Handgriff integriert. 6 MISTER X Design: Biagio Cisotti, Sandra Laube MISTER-X / tavolo Mister X è un tavolo elegante e versatile, ideale per l ambiente pubblico come i bar, caffè o ristoranti. Si caratterizza con linee rigorose e con un profilo essenziale e contemporaneo. Per la base in fusione in ghisa è stato messo a punto un sistema di giunzione molto innovativo che lo rende un prodotto tecnologicamente avanzato. La base tavolo è zincata e verniciata a polvere e disponibile come standard con i piani in HPL Fullcolor nei colori nero e bianco. Destinazioni: Contract, gastronomia, casa e ufficio. MISTER-X / Tisch Mister X ist ein eleganter und vielseitiger Tisch ideal für den Einsatz in öffentlichen Bereichen wie zum Beispiel Bars, Cafés oder Restaurants. Er ist durch seine zurückhaltende, zeitlose Linienführung gekennzeichnet. Für das Kreuz Fußgestell in Gusseisen wurde ein innovatives Verbindungssystem entwickelt, welches den Tisch zu einem technologisch fortgeschrittenen Produkt macht. 7 MIURA stool / table Design: Konstantin Grcic MIURA sgabello / tavolo Lo sgabello MIURA in polipropilene caricato è stampato in un unico blocco. Dall innovativa tecnologia d iniezione e l esigenza di sviluppare uno sgabello impilabile destinato al settore contract e casa, nasce la forma molto caratterizzante di MIURA. Otticamente lo sgabello si esprime tramite la sua dinamicità, nella quale costruzione ed ergonomia si trovano in sintonia. In abbinamento allo sgabello è stato sviluppato il tavolo MIURA, il quale tramite la sua materialità e funzionalità si adatta sovranamente alle destinazioni ed agli ambienti gastronomici come caffé, bistrò si che anche per l ambiente casa. La struttura a tre gambe d acciaio è composta da un profilo ellittico, fabbricato espressamente (stesso profilo dello sgabello) e sviluppato con tecnologia Laser 3D. Anche il piano (Ø60cm, Ø70cm e 70x70cm) è di acciaio ed è supportato da un meccanismo pieghevole per accatastare i tavoli insieme. The innovative injecting technology as well as the requirement to develop a barstool for contract and domestic environments has lead to the characteristic form of MIURA. Optically this stool has a truly dynamic shape, of which construction and ergonomics are developing into a powerful and expressive harmony. As a supplement to the barstool the MIURA table was developed. Because of its material and function is highly suitable for destinations like cafeteria, bistro, catering industry, but also for private homes. The three leg steel frame is manufactured by an elliptical profile and produced with 3D laser technique. The table top (Ø60cm, Ø70cm and 70x70cm) is also made of steel and available with a folding mechanism to stack tables together. The table is produced in 3 heights and available in black and white. Application areas: domestic and contract spaces, for Indoor and Outdoor use. Die innovative Spritzguss-Technologie, sowie der Anspruch einen stapelbaren Barhocker für die Bereiche Privat und Objekt zu entwickeln, haben zur charakteristischen Form des Hockers MIURA geführt. Optisch zeichnet sich der Hocker durch seine dynamische Form aus, bei der Konstruktion und Ergonomie zu einem ausdrucksstarken Einklang werden. In Ergänzung zum Barhocker wurde der MIURA Tisch entwickelt, der sich durch seine Materialität und Funktion souverän für den Einsatz in Cafés, Bistros, aber auch für den Privatgebrauch eignet. Das dreibeinige Tischgestell aus Stahl wird aus einem spezial angefertigten Ovalprofil und mit 3D Lasertechnik gefertigt. Die Tischplatte (Ø60cm, Ø70cm und 70x70cm) ist ebenfalls aus Stahl und lässt sich wahlweise mit einem Klappmechanismus zum Stapeln ausrüsten. 8 MONZA chair / armchair / table Design: Konstantin Grcic MONZA poltroncina / sedia / tavolo Il concetto della poltroncina e la sedia MONZA è la combinazione dei due materiali legno e plastica a iniezione e di conseguenza le radici artigianali della ditta Plank con le caratteristiche moderne dell industrial design. Sono composti di una ridotta struttura in legno, che prende spunto dalla tipologia delle sedie in legno scandinave. Poltroncina e sedia MONZA sono caratterizzate da un bracciolo/schienale in polipropilene di forma organica, il quale fornisce da un lato la stabilità necessaria alla sedia e dall altro le dona comodità e vivacità cromatica. Both are conceived as a simple wood-construction which formally refers to a typology of chairs originating in Scandinavia. The chairs main character is defined by an organically formed polypropylene back-/armrest, which on the one hand serves the chair s structure and on the other provides comfort and colour. Optionally, in addition, a removable seat cushion can be attached. The MONZA armchair also fits perfectly for seminars and conferences, integrated with a smart linking device that at the same time functions as a tray. The bar and bistro area are best equipped with the MONZA chair. Its curvy shape of the backrest and the short armrests makes it possible to dock the chair on the table top and thus facilitates cleaning. To complete the collection the MONZA table was created, a table system which can be variously configured. Biography Designing shape is to give form to values that people tacitly share and wish for. Naoto Fukasawa visually captures these values and he draws the exact outline of them. His ability for visualizing such unseen outlines for things is not easily worded and described, nonetheless, people are convinced with his ability when they experience his design. Fukasawa s notions and expressions to approach essential values of things through design travel beyond borders or domains and his thoughts are well respected internationally. His concept for finding hints in subconscious behavior of people which he named Without Thought, is most known and he runs Without Thought workshops to share his thoughts. Insegna Design presso l ISIA - Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche di Firenze. Insieme con un gruppo di architetti fiorentini fonda nel 1990 MADE, associazione culturale e spazio espositivo che promuove iniziative legate all architettura ed al design. Nel 2000 tiene un corso di post-grado a Montevideo, Uruguay e conduce varie conferenze in Europa e Sud-America. Dal 2003 insegna presso l Università di Architettura di Firenze Disegno Industriale. Sandra Laube nasce a Francoforte (Germania), nel 1986 si trasferisce a Firenze e studia Industrial Design all ISIA. Nel 1992 vince una borsa di studio al College of Art and Design of Minneapolis (USA) e svolge un esperienza professionale alla 3M, settore comunicazione. Si occupa della direzione artistica nel campo della grafica occupandosi di comunicazione interattiva. Insegna all Istituto Internazionale di Fashion Design & Marketing Polimoda di Firenze e tiene corsi in collaborazione con il Fashion Institute of Technology di New York. Partecipa a numerose mostre nazionali ed internazionali. Nel 1992 nasce la loro collaborazione Studio Cisotti Laube che lavora in diversi campi del design come il mobile, l oggettistica, mostre e grafica. BIOGRAPHIE Biagio Cisotti, geboren in Aradeo (Lecce), lebt und arbeitet in Florenz, wo er 1980 in Architektur promoviert. Er ist Dozent an der ISIA - Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Florenz. Zusammen mit einer Gruppe Florentiner Architekten gründet er 1990 MADE, eine kulturelle Vereinigung mit Ausstellungsfläche, die architektonische und design orientierte Initiativen fördert. In 2000 unterrichtet er als Gastdozent an der Universität in Montevideo, Uruguay und hält mehrere Konferenzen in Europa und in Südamerika. Seit 2003 ist er Dozent für Industriedesign an der Architekturfakultät in Florenz. Er ist als Art Director für verschiedene Firmen tätig und nimmt mit seinen Werken an zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungen teil. Sandra Laube, geboren in Frankfurt, verlegt nach dem Abitur ihren Wohnsitz nach Florenz und studiert an der ISIA - Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche wo Sie 1993 Ihr Diplom erhält Stipendium am College of Art and Design of Minneapolis (USA) und Tätigkeit im Kommunikationssektor bei 3M (St.Paul, USA). Sie ist als Art Direktor im Grafik Bereich tätig und beschäftigt sich im multimedialen Design Bereich mit interaktiver Kommunikation. Sie unterrichtet an der Hochschule für Mode Design und Marketing Polimoda in Florenz und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Fashion Institute of Technology of New York. Ihre Werke werden an zahlreichen Ausstellungen sei es in Italien als auch international präsentiert gründen Sie Cisotti Laube Studio. Das Studio arbeitet in verschiedenen Branchen des Designs wir: Möbel, Gestaltungsgegenstände, Ausstellungen und Grafikdesign. Das Studio arbeitet für renommierte Unternehmen der italienischen und internationalen Designindustrie.
