3 Grußwort Der Präzisionsflug hat weltweit viele Fans und Anhänger. Als Schirmherr der 21. Weltmeisterschaft im Präzisionsflug freue ich mich deshalb, Pilotinnen und Piloten aus 15 Nationen, ihre Freunde und Förderer sowie viele Flugsport begeisterte Gäste zu dieser Veranstaltung in Bautzen begrüßen zu können. Die Wettkämpfe lassen Spannung und Spaß enruarten, müssen die Pilotinnen und Piloten doch auf der Strecke sekundengenau Ziete anfliegen und beim Landen punktgenau aufsetzen. Beide Disziplinen erfordern ein Höchstmaß an fliegerischem Können und Geschick, das über die perfekte Beherrschung des Flugzeuges hinaus geht. Allen Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern wünsche ich spannende Wettkämpfe, hervorragende Wetterbedingungen und den erhofften sportlichen Erfolg sowie den Organisatoren einen reibungslosen Ablauf der Weltmeisterschaften. 4 Grußwort Liebe Pilotinnen, liebe Piloten, liebe Freunde des Motorflugs, ein lapidares passt schon hört man bei dieser Weltmeisterschaft nicht. Piloten beim Präzisionsfliegen nehmen es ganz genau. Es geht um Sekunden, um Details und beim Landen können Zentimeter entscheiden. Unterstützung durch elektronische Geräte, die heute im Flugbetrieb üblich sind, gibt es nicht. Mit Karte und Kompass gilt es, in der festgelegten Zeit die richtige Strecke und Bilder zu finden. Respekt! Wer diese Aufgaben lösen will braucht viel Erfahrung, höchste Konzentration, intensives Training und muss sein Flugzeug perfekt beherrschen. Der Deutsche Aero Club freut sich sehr und ist stolz darauf, dass diese Weltmeisterschaft in Bautzen ausgetragen wird. Mit dem Deutschen Präzisionsflug-Verein haben der DAeC und die Bundeskommission Motorflug einen sehr kompetenten und in aller Welt gut bekannten Ausrichter gefunden. Der Verein wird unterstützt durch die Fachleute in der Kommission. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an alle, die ihre Freizeit für die Wettbewerbsvorbereitung und -durchführung zur Verfügung stellen. Diese Meisterschaft verspricht ein spannendes Ereignis zu werden. Mehr als 60 Teilnehmer aus 13 Nationen werden um den Titel kämpfen. Bei allem sportlichen Ehrgeiz zählt aber hier auch die Fliegerkameradschaft. So ganz nebenbei lernt man auch viele nette Leute kennen oder trifft alte Bekannte und Gleichgesinnte wieder. Ich wünsche den Teilnehmern, den Wettbewerbsorganisatoren und dem ausrichtenden Verein einen erfolgreichen, fairen und unfallfreien Wettbewerb. We are talking here about accuracy to the second, paying attention to even the smallest detail, and inch-perfect spot landings. Just using a map and a compass, the competitors are required to follow a precise flight path and to identify photographs from the air while sticking to a tight time schedule. And all this without the backup of the electronic systems used in today s modern aircraft! Hats off! Precision flying requires a lot of experience, utmost concentration, intensive training and perfect aircraft handling skills. Deutscher Aero Club (DAeC) is extremely pleased and proud to host the 21st FAI World Precision Flying Championship being held in Bautzen this year. The DAeC and its power flying commission are glad to partner with Deutscher Präzisionsflug-Verein (German Precision Flying Association), an experienced and world-renowned organizer of precision flying events. 5 Bautzen ist Austragungsort der 21. Weltmeisterschaft im Präzisionsflug Im September dieses Jahres richtet der Deutsche Aero Club, Bundeskommission Motorflug, die 21. FAI Weltmeisterschaft im Präzisionsflug in Deutschland aus. Dazu werden etwa 80 Teilnehmer aus der ganzen Welt erwartet. Über 60 Piloten aus 16 Nationen haben sich bereits angemeldet. Der Deutsche Aero Club freut sich sehr, dass der Flugplatz Bautzen sein Gelände für die Durchführung des Wettbewerbs zur Verfügung stellt und ihn bei den Vorbereitungen tatkräftig unterstützt. Vertreter der Stadt bis hin zum Bürgermeister, Herrn Christian Schramm, helfen bei der Ausgestaltung der offiziellen Veranstaltungen und der Ausarbeitung des Freizeitprogramms für die Gäste. Die Weltmeisterschaft wird mit einer vorgeschalteten Trainingswoche vom 2. bis 14. September 2013 durchgeführt. Am Sonntagvormittag, den 8. September, absolvieren die Teilnehmer der WM das obligatorische Landetraining auf dem Flugplatz. Die offizielle Eröffnung findet am späten Nachmittag auf dem Rathausmarkt in Verbindung mit den Feierlichkeiten zum Stadtfest Bautzen statt. Zur Eröffnung auf dem Rathausmarkt erwarten wir neben nationalen und internationalen Vertretern des Sports Gäste aus Politik und Wirtschaft sowie viel Publikum. Schüler und Vereine der Stadt gestalten den Festakt aktiv mit. Bautzen is the host city for the 21st FAI World Precision Flying Championship Deutscher Aero Club (DAeC - German Aero Club) and its Power Flying Commission will be organizing the 21st FAI World Precision Flying Championship to be held in in September this year. About 80 competitors from all over the world are expected to participate. Entries from more than 60 pilots from 16 countries have been received so far. The DAeC is delighted to partner with Bautzen Airfield. The aerodrome operators do not only make the necessary facilities available for the championship, they also assist the organizers in their preparations for the event. Numerous city representatives including the Mayor of Bautzen, Christian Schramm, are actively involved in preparing the official functions and a leisure program for their guests. The FAI World Championship will take place from 2nd to 14th September 2013, including a practice week prior to the championship. Mandatory for all competitors, there will be a landing practice at Bautzen Airfield on Sunday, 8th September. As part of the City of Bautzen Festival, the opening ceremony will be held in the market square by the City Hall in the late afternoon of the same day. In addition to representatives of the German and international sports world, the organizers expect numerous guests from politics and business as well as a large number of spectators to attend the opening ceremony in the market square by the City Hall. 7 Results: 20 st FAI World Precision Flying Championship 2011 South Afrika The 20th World Precision Flying Championships was held in Brits, South Africa from October The winner of the event was Michal Wieczorek (Poland). He was followed by Boleslaw Radmoski (Poland) in 2nd position and Michal Filip (Czech Republic) in 3rd position. Michal Wieczorek Poland were the winners of the team trophy with the Czech Republic and France in 2nd and 3rd prosition respectively. The team landing was also dominated by Poland. They were joined on the podium by South Africa and France in 2nd and 3rd prosition respectively. The Czech Republic fared well in the individual navigation trophy by taking up three of the top five positions. 12 Präzisionsflug Im Wettbewerbs-Präzisionsflug messen sich die Piloten in akkurater Flugroutenberechnung, exakter Flugdurchführung und Landung auf den Punkt. Die Herausforderung ist es, das Flugzeug sowohl in der Luft in jeder Lage absolut zu beherrschen als auch bei der Landung die Räder auf einer kleinen, genau definierten Fläche aufzusetzen. Ehrgeiz und Spaß sind der Anreiz, an diesen Wettbewerben teilzunehmen. 1. Flugplanung Der Pilot erhält nach dem Briefing, bei dem er Informationen über den allgemeinen Flugver kehr und die Wetterlage erhält, seine genaue Startzeit. Jetzt muss er innerhalb einer halben Stunde seine Flugroute berechnen. Dazu werden ihm die Karte, das Aufgabenblatt mit den Angaben zum Flug, ein Formular für seine Berechnungen sowie An- und Abflugkarten der Flugplätze ausgehändigt. Damit errechnet er unter Berücksichtigung des Windes die genauen Steuerkurse und Etappenzeiten in Minuten und Sekunden. 2. Navigationsaufgabe Vor dem Start erhält der Flugzeugführer seine geprüfte und gegebenenfalls korrigierte Flugplanung zurück. Dadurch werden überraschende Flugbewegungen in der Luft vermieden und die Flugsicherheit gewährleistet. Während des etwa einstündigen Fluges stellt der Pilot seine Fähigkeiten in folgenden Bereichen unter Beweis: exakte Navigation sekundengenaues Einhalten der Start-, Überflugund Landezeiten Beibehalten des Flugkorridors und der Höhe Einhalten der Geschwindigkeit auf allen Kursen Darüber hinaus muss der Pilot Objekte auf den ihm mitgegebenen Bilder-Tableaus erkennen und deren Lage in die Wettbewerbskarte einzeichnen. Der Flug wird von GPS-Geräten aufgezeichnet und kann sekundengenau ausgewertet werden. Ein Wettbewerb enthält zwei solcher Navigationsaufgaben. 3. Landeaufgabe Bei den Landeaufgaben wird die Fähigkeit des Piloten überprüft, in vier verschiedenen Anflugkonfigurationen eine Ziellandung durchzuführen. Diese Landungen werden bereits in der Flugausbildung trainiert, haben hier im Wettbewerb aber einen besonderen Anspruch: Das Null-Fehler-Feld ist zwei Meter lang. Normale Landung Die erste Landeaufgabe bildet eine normale Landung unter Nutzung aller technischen Möglichkeiten des Flugzeugs. Notlandeübung mit Klappen Die Landung wird ohne Nutzung der Motorkraft durchgeführt. Notlandeübung ohne Klappen Bei dieser Landeübung werden weder Motorkraft noch Landeklappen benutzt, das Flugzeug wird zum Ziel gesegelt. Landung über ein Hindernis Diese Variante sieht am spektakulärsten aus. Das Flugzeug wird unter Nutzung aller technischen Möglichkeiten gelandet, muss vor dem Ziellandefeld jedoch über ein aufgestelltes Hindernis, eine Wimpelkette, gesteuert werden. Sieger des gesamten Wettbewerbs wird derjenige Pilot, der die wenigsten Fehlerpunkte angesammelt hat. Diese Wettbewerbe finden in Deutschland auf verschiedenen Flugplätzen statt und werden bis zu Deutschen Meisterschaften geführt. Europa- und Weltmeisterschaf ten finden in jährlichem Wechsel statt. Precision Flying The sport of precision flying aims at emphasizing the pilots ability to calculate an accurate flight plan, to follow a precise track and to make a spot landing into a marked grid. Perfect aircraft handling in the air and putting the airplane s main wheels down onto a small stripe painted on the runway are indeed challenging tasks. Ambition, fun and competing with others are major reasons to participate in precision flying competitions. 1. Flight Planning Test Following a briefing, where the pilots are provided with all relevant weather and flight information, each competitor will be given his/her assigned takeoff time. He/ she is now required to calculate his/her flight plan for the navigation route within 30 minutes by using the competition map, a set of instructions, a flight plan- 12 FAI Weltmeisterschaft im Präzisionsflug 2013 Bautzen, 7. bis 14. 13 ning form and the arrival and departure charts handed over to each competitor. The flight planning test includes the calculation of distance, ground speed, time and heading of each leg based on a constant airspeed and a given wind factor. 2. Navigation Test Following submission of the calculated flight plan, the pilot will receive a computerized flight plan. This measure is intended to ensure flight safety by avoiding course deviations. During the one-hour flight, the pilot is given the opportunity to demonstrate his/ her skills in the following disciplines: Precise navigation Precise timing, accurate to the second, on takeoff, overhead checkpoints and on landing Maintaining correct tracks and altitudes Maintaining correct ground speeds In addition, the pilot has to identify photographs and canvas targets along the track. These need to be marked on the competition map. GPS loggers are used to record and analyze the flight data. There will be two such navigation tests. 3. Landing Test The objective of the landing test is to demonstrate the pilot s ability to perform four spot landings in different approach configurations. During a competition, these spot landings, which are also part of basic pilot training, aim at touching down on a two-meter wide line painted on the runway. Normal Landing The first landing test is a landing where the use of engine power, spoilers, flaps or sideslip is at the discretion of the pilot. Forced Landing A landing where engine power shall not be used. Flaps, spoilers and sideslip may be used at the discretion of the pilot. Forced Landing without Flaps A landing where engine power, flaps and spoilers shall not be used. Sideslip may be used at the discretion of the pilot. Obstacle Landing The most spectacular landing test. The pilot makes an approach over a two-meter high tape located 50 meters before the touchdown line. The use of engine power, flaps, spoilers and sideslip is permitted. Winner of the competition is the pilot with the lowest number of penalties. Precision flying competitions, including German championships, are being held at different airfields throughout. There is either a World or European Championship in each alternate year. 14 Die Stadt Bautzen Bautzen, das Zentrum der Oberlausitz, ist über tausend Jahre alt und eine der reizvollsten mittelalterlichen Städte in Deutschland. Deutsche und Sorben, eine slawische Minderheit, die in dieser Region mit ihrer eigenen Kultur heimisch ist, leben hier seit vielen Jahrhunderten zusammen. Hoch über der Spree auf einem prächtigen Granitplateau gelegen, befindet sich die gut erhaltene und sorgfältig restaurierte historische Altstadt. Sie besticht durch ihre siebzehn Türme und Bastionen, die ursprünglich gebaut wurden, um das alte Handelszentrum zu schützen. Bautzen ist von faszinierenden Landschaften umgeben: Im Süden erstreckt sich das Oberlausitzer Bergland mit seinen Höhen, im Norden eine wunderschöne Heide- und Teichlandschaft. Nur wenige Kilometer nördlich von Bautzen beginnt diese einzigartige Heidelandschaft mit tausenden von Teichen, von der ein Teil zum UNESCO- Biosphärenreservat erklärt wurde. Das Biosphärenreservat umfasst ein Gebiet von Hektar, dessen Fläche zur Hälfte von Wald und zu etwa 10 Prozent von 335 Teichen bedeckt ist. Mehr als Pflanzenarten und über Tierarten werden hier geschützt. Und vielleicht von besonderem Interesse für uns Piloten: Oft kann es vorkommen, dass wir hoch in den Lüften den majestätischen und imposanten Seeadlern mit Flügelspannweiten bis zu 2,4 Metern begegnen. The City of Bautzen Bautzen, the center of the Upper Lusatia (Oberlausitz) with over 1,000 years of history, is one of the most charming medieval cities in. The Germans and the Sorbs, a Slavic minority indigenous to the region with their own unique culture, have lived here together for centuries. High up over the Spree valley on a plateau of a splendid granite rock the well-preserved and painstakingly restored historical old town impresses with seventeen towers and bastions built originally to protect the old trade center. Bautzen is surrounded by fascinating landscapes: in the south the peaks of the Upper Lusatia mountains, in the north a beautiful heath and pond region. A few kilometers from Bautzen to the north, there is a magnificent heath region with thousands of ponds, a part of which is an UNESCO protected biosphere reserve. The biosphere reserve covers an area of 30,000 hectares, half of it with forests, 10 percent with 335 ponds. More than 1,000 species of flora and more than 3,000 species of fauna are protected here.
