3 PRODUKTINFORMATION MMX 300 Sie haben sich für das Headset MMX 300 von beyerdynamic entschieden. Vielen Dank für Ihr Vertrauen. Nehmen Sie sich bitte einige Minuten Zeit und lesen Sie diese Produkt information vor Inbetriebnahme aufmerksam durch. Sicherheitshinweis Wenn Sie das Headset anschließen, achten Sie darauf, dass die Lautstärke (Volume) zunächst auf Mini mum gedreht ist. Regeln Sie die Lautstärke erst nach Aufsetzen des Kopfhörers. Im allgemeinen wird mit Kopfhörern lauter abgehört als mit Laut spre chern. Hohe Lautstärken können, sofern sie über längere Zeit auf das Ohr einwirken, zu dauerhaften Hörschä den führen. Schonen Sie Ihr gesundes Gehör - auch bei niedriger Laut stärke haben beyerdynamic-kopfhörer ihren vollen Klang. Kopfbügel Um den Tragekomfort zu optimieren, müssen Sie den Kopfbügel des Headsets an Ihren Kopf anpassen. Wenn der Kopfbügel über die Kopfmitte verläuft, sollte der Bügel so eingestellt sein, dass beide Ohren komplett umschlossen sind ein leichter Druck um die Ohren zu spüren ist beide Seiten des Bügels gleich verlängert sind Mikrofon Drehen Sie am festen Mikrofonarmhalter (niemals am Schwanenhals!) das Mikrofon auf die von Ihnen gewünschte Seite. deutsch Anwendungen Das MMX 300 ist das ideale Headset für alle Gaming- und Multimedia-Anwendungen und eignet sich ebenfalls hervorragend für den Anschluss an Hifi-Anlagen und portable Geräte (CD/DVD/MP3). Das lärmkompensierende Mikrofon sorgt für eine deutliche und präzise Sprachübertragung auch in geräuschintensivsten Umgebungen. Die geschlossene Bauweise garantiert einen absolut ungestörten Spielspaß und Soundgenuss mit höchstem Tragekomfort durch weiche, auswechselbare Ohr- und Kopfpolster. Über den mitgelieferten USB-Konverter kann die Lautstärke komfortabel geregelt und das Mikrofon stumm geschaltet werden. Anschluss Das MMX 300 ist mit zwei Miniklinkensteckern ausgestattet. Sie können das Mikrofon- und Kopfhörerkabel direkt an die entprechenden Buchsen Ihres PCs anschließen bzw. an den mitgelieferten USB-Konverter und diesen an den USB-Port Ihres PCs anschließen. Ziehen Sie den Windschutz auf das Mikrofon, so dass dieser das Mikrofon komplett umschließt. Biegen Sie den flexiblen Schwanenhals so, dass das Mikrofon etwa zwei Zentimeter mittig vor Ihrem Mund platziert ist. Wichtig: Zur Vermeidung von Überdehnungen und frühzeitigem Verschleiß darf der Schwanenhals nur max. 90 Grad gebogen werden. Inbetriebnahme USB-Konverter Der mitgelieferte USB-Konverter ist mit einem USB-Stecker ausgestattet und lässt sich problemlos an jeden PC oder Laptop mit USB-Port anschließen, der unter folgenden Betriebssystemen läuft: Kopfhörer Mikrofon PC: Windows 98 SE (Second Edition) Windows ME Windows 2000 Windows XP Windows Vista Inbetriebnahme Headset Setzen Sie das Headset auf den Kopf. Das Mikrofon ist dabei auf der linken Seite. Positionieren Sie das Mikro fon seitlich vor dem Mund. Zur Vermeidung von Popp - ge räuschen sollten Sie das Mikro fon nur mit Poppschutz verwenden. Wichtig: Während der Aufnahme oder Wiedergabe darf der USB-Konverter Headset nicht vom PC getrennt werden, da das jeweilige Programm oder der PC abstürzen könnte. Apple: MAC OS 9 MAC OS X Nach Beendigung der Aufnahme bzw. Wiedergabe können Sie das Headset einfach durch Herausziehen der Klinkenstecker vom USB-Konverter bzw. durch Herausziehen des USB-Konverters vom PC trennen. 4 5

4 Bedienelemente USB-Konverter Anschluss Kopfhörer Anschluss Mikrofon Mute-Taster LED Bei Aufnahmen können Sie über den PC für das Mikrofon die Verstärkung um 20 db erhöhen. Dies wird empfohlen, wenn der Anwender sehr leise spricht. Wenn Sie einen PC mit dem Betriebssystem Windows benutzen, verfahren Sie wie nachfolgend beschrieben. Wählen Sie an Ihrem PC Start, Einstellungen, Systemsteuerung und Sounds und Audiogeräte. Wählen Sie im Fenster Eigenschaften von Sounds und Audiogeräte die Register karte Audio aus. Wählen Sie für Soundwieder gabe bzw. Soundauf nahme das USB Audiogerät aus dem Pull-Down-Menü aus. Klicken Sie im Bereich Sound auf - nahme auf die Taste Laut stärke. deutsch Lautstärkeregler Installation USB-Konverter Wenn Sie den USB-Konverter zum ersten Mal an den PC anschließen, erfolgt eine Installation. Je nach Betriebssystem wird diese automatisch oder mittels einer Installations-CD ausgeführt. Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista Die Installation erfolgt automatisch. Windows 98 SE Die Installation erfolgt mit der Windows 98 SE Installations-CD. Auf dem Bildschirm erscheint eine Aufforderung, die Windows 98 SE Installations-CD einzulegen. Folgen Sie bei der Installation den weiteren Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm. Aufnahme und zuschaltbare Verstärkung Mit der Mute-Taste am USB-Konverter können Sie das Mikrofon ein- oder ausschalten. Eine LED zeigt den Status an. Das Fenster Wave In wird geöffnet. Mit dem Lautstärkeregler können Sie die Aufnahmelautstärke des Mikrofons einstellen. Unter dem Menüpunkt Optionen muss Erweiterte Einstellungen aktiviert sein, damit die Taste Erweitert vorhanden ist. Klicken Sie auf die Taste Erweitert. Im Fenster Erwei terte Einstellungen für Mikrofon können Sie bei Bedarf das Kon troll feld im Bereich Andere Einstel lungen aktivieren, um die Verstärkung des Mikrofons um 20 db zu erhöhen. 5 Wiedergabe Mit dem Lautstärkeregler am USB-Konverter können Sie die Wiedergabelautstärke des Kopfhörers regulieren. Zur Steuerung der Wiedergabe am PC öffnen Sie das Fenster Lautsprecher. Klicken Sie hierfür im Fenster Eigen schaften von Sounds und Audio geräte unter Soundwiedergabe auf die Taste Lautstärke. Der Lautstärkeregler arbeitet interaktiv, d.h. wenn Sie die Lautstärke am USB- Konverter verändern, bewegt sich der Lautstärkeregler im Fenster Lautsprecher entsprechend mit. Ist unter Mikrofon das Kontrollfeld Ton aus nicht aktiviert, können Sie sich selbst über den Kopfhörer hören. Wollen Sie sich selbst nicht hören, müssen Sie das Kontrollfeld Ton aus aktivieren. Pflege Aus hygienischen Gründen sollten Sie die Ohr polster und den Kopfbügel gelegentlich mit einem weichen feuchten Tuch reinigen. Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser in die Wandler läuft. Den Windschutz des Mikrofons können Sie abnehmen und unter fließendem Wasser reinigen. Bei Bedarf können Sie ein mildes Reinigungsmittel (z.b. Geschirrspül mittel) verwenden. Der Wind schutz muss ganz trocken sein, bevor Sie ihn wieder auf das Mikrofon setzen. Wechsel der Ohrpolster Da Ohrpolster einem natürlichen Verschleiß unterliegen, wird es von Zeit zu Zeit notwendig sie auszutauschen. Dies können Sie leicht selbst machen. Zum Wechsel des Ohrpolsters ziehen Sie das alte von der Hörerkappe. Das neue Ohrpolster lässt sich am besten aufziehen, wenn Sie es vorher leicht erwärmt haben. Service Im Servicefall wenden Sie sich bitte an autorisiertes Fach personal. Öffnen Sie das Headset auf keinen Fall selbst, Sie könnten sonst alle Garantieansprüche verlieren. 7 PRODUCT INFORMATION MMX 300 Thank you for selecting the MMX 300 headset. Please take some time to read carefully through this product information before using the headset. Safety Information When you connect your headset, please make sure that the volume control is set at minimum and is adjusted after it has been put on. It is a common phenomenon to listen to music through headphones at high levels. The very low levels of distortion present within the headphone can make the listening levels higher than is perceived and we would like to warn you of this so that you are able to enjoy the sound from this headphone for many years without damaging your ears. Headband For best comfort and noise attenuation, the headband has to be adjusted to fit your head properly. Wear the headset so that the headband runs over the top of your head and adjust the headband so that your ears are completely enclosed by the ear cushions, you feel a gentle pressure around your ears, both ends of the headband have the same length to ensure a proper fit Microphone Turn the microphone holder (not the gooseneck!) to position the microphone on the left or right hand side of the mouth. Applications The MMX 300 is ideal for all gaming and multimedia applications as well as for use with hi-fi systems or mobile devices (CD/DVD/MP3). The noise-cancelling microphone ensures a clear and precise voice transmission even in noisy surroundings. The closed design guarantees absolute undisturbed enjoyment of game and sound combined with a high comfort due to soft, replaceable ear and headband pads. The microphone can be muted and the volume can easily be controlled via the supplied USB converter. Connection The MMX 300 provides two mini jack plugs (3.5 mm). You can directly connect the microphone and headphone cables to the appropriate sockets of your PC or to the supplied USB converter which is connected to the USB port of your PC. Headphone Microphone Place the wind shield onto the microphone and make sure that the microphone is completely enclosed. Bend the flexible gooseneck so that the microphone is placed about 2 cm in front of the middle of your mouth. Important: In order to avoid overstretching and premature wear and tear never bend the gooseneck more than 90. Setting up and Use of the USB Converter The supplied USB converter provides a USB plug and can easily be connected to the USB port of any PC or laptop operating with one of the following operating systems. Setting up and Use of the Headset Put the headset on your head. The microphone is on the left side. Position the microphone to the side of the mouth. In order to avoid pop noise you should use the microphone with a pop shield. Important: Avoid disconnecting the USB converter during recording or playback, as the currently open program or the PC system could crash. 8 Controls and Indicators of the USB Converter Headphone socket Microphone socket When recording you can increase the gain of the microphone by 20 db via the PC. This is recommended for very low speaking users. If you use a PC with the Windows operating system, proceed as described in the following. Select Start, Settings, Control Panel and Sounds and Audio Devices. In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window select the Audio tab. Select under Sound playback and Sound recording the USB Audio Device from the pull-down menu. Select the Volume button under Sound recording. Mute button LED Volume control Installation of the USB Converter When connecting the USB converter to the PC for the first time, an installation process is carried out. Depending on the operating system the installation process is carried out automatically or with an installation CD. The Wave In window will be opened. With the volume control you can set the recording volume of the microphone. The Advanced Controls option must be activated under Options. Select the Advanced button. Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista The installation is carried out automatically. Windows 98 SE The installation is carried out with the Windows 98 SE installation CD. A message to insert the Windows 98 SE installation CD will be displayed on the screen. During the installation process follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Recording and switchable Gain With the mute button of the USB converter you can turn the microphone on or off. An LED indicates the status. In the Advanced Controls for Microphone window you can tick the tick box under Other Controls to increase the gain of the microphone by 20 db if necessary. english LED blue = Microphone off; or the recording control for the microphone in the Wave In window is very low LED off = Microphone on 14 15

9 Playback With the volume control of the USB converter you can adjust the volume of the headphone. To control the playback open the Speaker window. To open select the Volume button in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window. If the Mute tick box under Microphone is not ticked, you can hear yourself via the headphone. If you do not want to hear yourself, tick the Mute tick box to activate. Maintenance As with any equipment which will be used in close proximity to sensitive areas of the body, it is essential that the ear pads and headband are kept clean. Use a damp cloth for cleaning using warm water only taking care not to allow any water drops into the transducers. For cleaning the pop shield remove it from the microphone and wash it under clear running water. If necessary you can use a mild cleansing agent (e.g. washing-up liquid). Make sure that the pop shield is completely dry before you replace it onto the microphone. How to replace the Ear Pads Should it become necessary, replace the ear pads. Pull the ear pads up and remove them from the earcups. Attach the new ear pads to the earcups. If other components have to be replaced, please contact your beyerdynamic dealer. Please keep your sales receipt and/or invoice. Without this proof of purchase repairs will be chargeable. The warranty extends to cover against defects in both materials and workmanship but excludes faults occurring due to; operating errors, improper operation, electric and mechanical damage, as well as repairs carried out by an unauthorised service centre. Excluded from the warranty claim are batteries and rechargeable batteries (included in the delivery) as well as parts that are subject to natural wear and tear during usage such as connecting cables, ear cushions, headband pads etc. This warranty is valid in any country in which beyerdynamic is represented by an authorised distributor.
