3 Antrag auf Finanzierung der Huygens-Software für die gesamte JGU und UM Mainz im Rahmen der NMFZ-Ausschreibung Wir beantragen die Finanzierung der Huygens Deconvolution Software, welche universitätsweit genutzt werden soll. Die Dekonvolutionssoftware ist in der Lage fehlerhafte Bilder von Mikroskopen zu korrigieren und dadurch die Auflösung zu verbessern. Da alle Mikroskopiebilder fehlerhaft sind (Streulicht aus anderen Fokusebenen, durch die Optik bestimmte Unschärfe), profitieren die verschiedensten Mikroskopiearten (Weitfeld- und Konfokal-Mikroskopie) von der Nachbearbeitung durch ein Dekonvolutionsprogramm. Die Software wird von einem zentralen Server der ZDV aus angeboten, wodurch alle Arbeitsgruppen (nicht nur die hier mitunterzeichnenden), die mikroskopisch arbeiten, die Software nutzen und von dieser profitieren. Angefügt, ein Bild vor und nach einer Dekonvolution mit der hier beantragten Software. Die hier beantragte Software hat den großen Vorteil, dass sie zentral auf einem Server läuft und jeder Forscher der JGU und UM von seinem Rechner aus über den Huygens Remote Manager (HRM) eine Dekonvolution abschicken kann und dann benachrichtigt wird, sobald die Dekonvolution abgeschlossen ist. Im Vergleich zu Einzelplatzlösungen ist die Serverversion zum einen sehr wirtschaftlich und zum zweiten äußerst einfach in der Administration. Gleichzeitig wäre die optimale Soft- und Hardwarebetreuung durch kompetentes Personal (ZDV) sichergestellt. Die Geschwindigkeit der Rechenprozesse hängt von der Anzahl der Nutzer und der Anzahl an Rechenkernen ab. Die Huygenssoftware wird für verschiedene Servergrößen angeboten. Rücksprachen mit den Core Facilities der ETH Zürich und des EMBL Heidelberg ergaben, dass ein Medium-Server (16 Kerne) für den Standort Mainz ausreichend sein sollte. Im Fall von Kapazitätsengpässen, kann das System im jährlichen Rhythmus angepasst werden. Die Software kostet in der gewünschten, sehr flexiblen Variante mit den notwendigen Optionen: Die Hardware, ein virtueller Server mit Virtualisierungslizenzen für 16 Kerne könnte für /Jahr von der ZDV angeschafft und betreut werden. Für die Aufrechterhaltung der Lizenz fallen jährlich 9% des Kaufpreises an, 2.687,40 pro Jahr. Daraus ergeben sich Gesamtkosten von ,40 für ersten zwei Jahre. Wir beantragen ,40 für die Einrichtung des Huygens-Servers, welcher universitätsweit von allen interessierten Arbeitsgruppen genutzt werden kann. Die Einrichtung wird von der ZDV (A. Brinkmann) und die Schulung für alle Anwender wird von der Core Facility Microscopy (A. Vonderheit) des IMB in Kursen übernommen. Angefügt die Unterschriften von 18 Gruppenleitern, welche die Anschaffung der Huygens-Dekonvolutions- Software unterstützen. Im Anhang die genaue Auflistung der Kosten, das Angebot der Firma SVI für die Huygens-Dekonvolutions- Software und ein Beispielbild.

Moving your license to a different Operations Systems (Windows, Mac or Linux) is seen as a new Huygens SysID and included in your valid maintenance contract. When out of maintenance, we offer an upgrade alone for 7% per year out of maintenance (of current total list price). If you decide to combine M&U for one or more years with an upgrade of your license, you need to pay an upgrade for 5% per year out of maintenance and the M&U fee from the month the new license is issued. When you need to move your Huygens license with an older version number to another computer (same OS) while your maintenance has expired you may do so for an administrative fee. The former license must be removed and this right is strictly limited to moving the Huygens license within the same group.
