2 Sokndal Guide Velkommen til det gode liv i Sokndal! Sokndal er den sørligste kommunen i Rogaland med ca innbyggere. Administrasjonssenter er Hauge i Dalane (Haua). Andre tettsteder: Åna-Sira, Jøssingfjord, Sogndalstrand, Rekefjord, Nesvåg, Ålgård, Myssa, Mydland, Barstad og Eia. Fylkesvei 44/Nordsjøvegen går gjennom store deler av kommunen og forbinder Sokndal med Egersund og Flekkefjord. Ekspressbuss fra Sokndal til Stavanger. Bergverksbedriften Titania er kommunens hjørnesteinsbedrift med ca. 275 ansatte. Dette er verdens største ilmenittmalmgruve og drives som dagbrudd. Ellers har Sokndal et variert næringsliv med en rekke mindre bedrifter. Overnattingsmuligheter på kulturhotell, campingplass og private hytter/hus. I kommunesenteret Hauge i Dalane finnes en rekke butikker som er kjent for god service. Jøssingfjord Vitenmuseum et sted der natur- og kulturhistorie møtes er under etablering. Det planlegges aktiviteter i tilknytning til temaene vannkraft og gruvedrift. Tur- og klatreløype er tilrettelagt for besøkende. Regionalt motorsportsenter er under planlegging. Det er søkt om konsesjon for flere større vindkraftprosjekt, både på land og til sjøs. Sokndal kommune arbeider aktivt for etablering av nye arbeidsplasser. Byggeklar kommunal næringstomt, ledige kontorlokaler og attraktive boligtomter. Ny/rehabilitert grunnskole. Full barnehagedekning. Sogndalstrand Sogndalstrand er et av de best besøkte reisemål i Rogaland. Sogndalstrand er det eneste tettstedet i Norge hvor både trehusbebyggelsen fra og 1800-tallet og omkringliggende kulturlandskap er fredet. Tidligere ladested og egen kommune fram til Stedet har de siste årene hatt et kraftig oppsving med kulturhotell, galleri, golfbane, landhandel, utendørs amfi, skulpturmolo, havrafting og fiskerimuseum. Om sommeren er det flere store konserter i Sogndalstrand Amfi. Lakseelva Sokna har sitt utløp ved Sogndalstrand. Hav, fjorder og fjell Kystlinjen mot Nordsjøen er 48 km. Sju små fjordarmer skjærer inn i landet og danner naturlige havner. Det er kort vei fra du løser fortøyningen til du er ute på det åpne havet med mange gode fiskeplasser. Unike fiskemuligheter i sjø, lakseelva Sokna og innlandsvann. Fra kystområdene strekker Sokndal seg innover et heilandskap med topper på opptil 600 meter over havet. Flotte turområder med mange merkede turløyper. De merkede toppturene er svært populære. The North Sea Cycle Route (Nordsjø Sykkelrute) og Nave Nortrail (Nordsjøløype) går gjennom Sokndal. En sjelden geologisk arv Geologien i Sokndal og Dalane er spesiell og har resultert i et karakteristisk landskap. Geologiske prosesser for 935 til 920 millioner år siden har etterlatt en spesiell geologisk arv som man ikke finner andre steder. Geologiske ressurser i form av malmårer har resultert i etableringe n av bergverksbedriften Titania. Magma Geopark er medlem av det europeiske geoparknettverket, European Geoparks Network, som den 2. geoparken i Skandinavia. Magma Geopark ønsker å være et nyskapende selskap som skal tilrettelegge, formidle, utvikle og styrke regionen basert på dens helt unike geologi og kulturhistorie. For mer informasjon: Foto: Knut Bry/Tinagent Cittaslow et merke med mange kvaliteter Sokndal var den første kommunen i Norden som sluttet seg til Cittaslow, en inter nasjonal bevegelse som startet i Italia i Tanken er å bremse litt på jaget, skru ned tempoet og prioritere livskvalitet og det gode liv. I Sokndal er det lov å være annerledes og litt gal. Vi har begravd Janteloven. Vi har egen Kjærlighetsuke og fokus på de nære ting. Vi har ingen turister bare gjester! SOKNDAL Kulturkommunen Sokndal Sokndal er en kulturkommune med en rekke frivillige organisasjoner, idrettshall, fotballbaner med kunstgras, skytebane, tennisbane, ballbinge, plastisbane og mye mer. Sokndal is the southernmost municipality in Rogaland and has around 3,250 inhabitants. Its administrative centre is Hauge i Dalane (Haua). Other villages in the region include: Åna-Sira, Jøssingfjord, Sogndalstrand, Rekefjord, Nesvåg, Ålgård, Myssa, Mydland, Barstad and Eia. County road 44 ('The North Sea Road') runs through large parts of the municipality and links Sokndal with Egersund and Flekkefjord. There is an express coach service from Sokndal to Stavanger. The mining company Titania is a cornerstone of the municipality's economy and employs around 275 people. It operates the world's largest ilmenite ore mine, an opencast mine. Otherwise Sokndal has a varied business community with a number of smaller companies. Accommodation can be found at the culture hotel, campsite and private cabins/houses. The administrative centre Hauge i Dalane offers a range of shops, well known for their good service. Jøssingfjord Museum a place where nature and cultural history meet is under development. There are plans to organise activities relating to the themes hydropower and mining. Hiking and climbing routes have been marked out for visitors. A regional motor sports centre is being planned. Licence applications have been submitted for a number of large wind power projects, both onshore and offshore. The municipality of Sokndal is actively seeking to establish new jobs. Plots ready for business development, available office premises and attractive residential plots. New/renovated primary and lower secondary school. Full nursery school coverage. Sogndalstrand Sogndalstrand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rogaland. Sogndalstrand is the only village in Norway where both the wooden buildings from the 1700s and 1800s and the surrounding cultural landscape are protected. It used to be a staple port and its own municipality up until In the last few years it has experienced quite a boom with the development of a culture hotel, gallery, golf course, village shop, outdoor amphitheatre, sculpture jetty, sea rafting, a fishing museum and more. Several large concerts are held in Sogndalstrand Amfi in the summer. The Sokna, a salmon river, flows into the fjord near Sogndalstrand. Sea, fjords and mountains The North Sea coastline stretches for 48 km. Seven small fjord arms penetrate the land, creating natural harbours. It s never far from the open sea and excellent fishing opportunities. There are unique fishing opportunities in the sea, the salmon river Sokna as well as lakes. Sokndal stretches inwards from the coastal areas through a hilly landscape with peaks of up to 600 metres. There are great trekking areas with numerous marked trails. The marked hill walks are very popular. The North Sea Cycle Route and Nave Nortrail both pass through Sokndal. A rare geological heritage The geology of Sokndal and Dalane is unusual and resulted in its characteristic landscape. Geological processes 935 to 920 million years ago produced a unique geological heritage that cannot be found anywhere else. Geological resources in the form of ore veins provided a basis for the establishment of the mining company Titania. Magma Geopark became the second Scandinavian member of the European Geoparks Network. Magma Geopark's ambition is to be an innovator who adapts, promotes, develops and strengthens the region based on its unique geology and cultural history. For more information, please visit: Cittaslow a brand of many qualities Sokndal was the first municipality in the Nordic Region to join Cittaslow, an international movement which started in Italy in The idea is to slow down the pace of life and choose quality of life instead. Here in Sokndal, non-conformity is encouraged and competing with your neighbours and colleagues forgotten. We have our own 'love and affection week' and focus on the things dear to us. Das Verwaltungszentrum liegt in Hauge i Dalane (Haua). Weitere Ortschaften: Åna-Sira, Jøssingfjord, Sogndalstrand, Rekefjord, Nesvåg, Ålgård, Myssa, Mydland, Barstad und Eia. Die Straße 44 Nordseestraße führt durch große Teile des Kreises und verbindet Sokndal mit Egersund und Flekkefjord. Ein Expressbus verkehrt zwischen Sokndal und Stavanger. Das Ilmenitbergwerk Titania ist mit ca. 275 Beschäftigten der Eckstein der Industrie im Kreis Sokndal und weltweit das größte dieser Art. Das Titanerz wird im Tagebau abgebaut. Ansonsten überwiegen Kleinbetriebe. Unterkünfte stehen im Kulturhotel, auf dem Campingplatz und in privaten Hütten und Häusern zur Verfügung. Die Geschäfte in Hauge i Dalane, dem Sitz der Kreisverwaltung, sind für ihren guten Service bekannt. Das Wissensmuseum Jøssingfjord, das der Natur- und Kulturgeschichte gewidmet ist, steht kurz vor seiner Fertigstellung. Vielerlei Aktivitäten sind zu den Themen Wasserkraft und Bergbau geplant. Schöne Wanderwege und Kletterparcous sind angelegt. Ein regionales Motorsportzentrum gehört zu den Planvorhaben. Die Antragsverfahren für Windkraftprojekte zu Land und zu Wasser sind eingeleitet. Sokndal unternimmt viele Anstrengungen, um neue Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen. Kommunale Gewerbegrundstücke, freie Büroräume und attraktive Baugrundstücke stehen bereit, ebenso die neue/renovierte Grundschule. Kindergartenplätze gibt es für alle. Sogndalstrand Sogndalstrand ist eines der meistbesuchten Reiseziele von Rogaland. Nicht nur die Holzhäuser aus dem 18. und 19. Jh., sondern auch die sie umgebende Kulturlandschaft stehen unter Denkmalschutz, eine in Norwegen bisher einzigartige Maßnahme. Der Ort, der bis 1944 ein Hafen- und Marktort und ein eigener Kreis war, hat in den letzten Jahren eine neue Blüte erlebt. Davon zeugen das Kulturhotel, die Galerie, Golfplatz der, der Laden, das Amphitheater, die Skulpturmolo, das Fischereimuseum, Seerafting usw. Im Sommer finden im Sogndalstrand Amfi viel beachtete Konzerte statt. Der Lachsfluss Sokna mündet in Sogndalstrand ins Meer. Berge, Meer und Fjorde Wir haben 48 km Nordseeküste. Sieben kleinere Fjordarme bilden natürliche Häfen. Vom Bootssteg bis zum offenen Meer, das mit vielen guten Fischplätzen lockt, ist es nie weit. Der Fischreichtum im Meer, im Lachsfluss Sokna und in zahllosen Seen muss alle Angelsportler freuen. Landeinwärts erstreckt sich eine hügelige Heidelandschaft, deren höchste Gipfel 600 m über den Meeresspiegel ragen. Ein Netz von markierten Wanderpfaden macht es einfach, die Natur zu Fuß zu erkunden. Die gekennzeichneten Gipfelrouten sind besonders beliebt. Wussten Sie, dass The North Sea Cycle Route (Nordsee-Fahrradroute) und Nave Nortrail (Nordsee-Küstenpfad) durch Sokndal führen? Ein seltenes geologisches Erbe Erdgeschichtlich sind Sokndal und Dalane ein besonderes Phänomen, erkennbar an der charakteristischen Landschaft. Er hat die Erd- und Kulturgeschichte der Region zum Thema und hat sich das Ziel gesetzt, auf dieser Grundlage zur Entwicklung und Stärkung der Region zukunftsweisend beizutragen. Weitere Informationen finden Sie unter CittaSlow wir sind eine Langsame Stadt Sokndal war die erste nordische Gemeinde, die sich Cittaslow übersetzt die langsame Stadt angeschlossen hat. Dies ist eine internationale Bewegung, die 1999 in Italien ihren Anfang nahm. Der Gedanke ist, der Schnelllebigkeit Einhalt zu gebieten und das Tempo abzubremsen. Her er et lite utdrag av mulighetene: Severdigheter 1. Åna-Sira ligger på grensen mellom Flekkefjord og Sokndal og på grensen mellom Rogaland og Vest-Agder. Elva deler bygda i to. Gammelt fiskevær hvor det bl.a. finnes kirke, interkommunal skole, rekefabrikk og kraftstasjon. Åna- Sira Grensehandel er nærbutikken som eies av bygdefolket. Butikken fungerer også som turistinformasjon. 2. Jøssingfjord kjent fra Altmark-affæren den første krigshandling på norsk jord under 2. verdenskrig 16. februar Minnesmerke og informasjonsskilt. Innerst i Jøssingfjord ligger to hus under Helleren, som er en gammel boplass. Husene er fra slutten av 1700-tallet/ begynnelsen av 1800-tallet. På stien inn til husene finnes en bronseplate over Kjell Aukrusts figur Mysil Bergsprekken, som skal være født under et steinsprang i Jøssingfjord i Nordsjøløype mellom Jøssingfjord og Sogndalstrand. Fra Helleren går det topptur til Hellershei ca. 2 timers tur med flott utsikt. Klatreløype i merket trasé med guide i Hellersdalen. 3. Titania AS, kommunens hjørnesteinsbedrift, verdens største ilmenittmalmgruve. Drives som dagbrudd og har enorme dimensjoner som er vel verdt et besøk. Norges største lastemaskin. Beregnet for grupper med guide. 4. Blåfjell Gruver ble drevet i perioden fra 1863 til Malmen fra gruven ble skipet ut i Rekefjord. Det ble bygget en jernbanetrasé fra Blåfjell til Rekefjord. Dette er i dag en fin gang- og sykkelsti. Flott tursti fra badeplassen Linepollen og videre innover til Blåfjellet. 5. Ruggesteinen er Nord-Europas største bevegelige steinblokk på 74 tonn. Parker ved badeplassen Linepollen og gå videre innover til Ruggesteinen og nedlagte Blåfjell Gruver. 6. Fredsvarden på Myssa består av stein fra alle landets kommuner. Fredsvarden ble åpnet av miljø- og utviklingsminister Erik Solheim 4. oktober Flott spaser tur fra Fylkesvei 1 til varden. 7. Sogndalstrand kulturmiljø ble fredet i statsråd 24. juni 2005 og består av trehusbebyggelse fra og 1800-tallet med omkringliggende kulturlandskap. Det eneste tettsted i Norge hvor både bebyggelse og kulturlandskap er fredet. Gammelt ladested og egen kommune fram til 1944, da det ble slått sammen med Sokndal kommune. Tidligere handelssenter for et større omland. Stedet har de siste årene hatt en kraftig oppblomstring med Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell, Galleri Rosengren, Horneland landhandel, Bryggegalleriet, Fiskerimuseum, Sogndalstrand Havrafting & Fritid, Sogndalstrand Golfbane, Sogndalstrand Amfi, Sogndalstrand skulpturmolo, villsau, merket topptur, Nordsjøløype mellom Sogndalstrand og Jøssingfjord, konditori m.v. Sogndalstrand er i dag et av Rogalands best besøkte reisemål. Se 8. Lille Presteskjær Fyr ved innløpet til Rekefjord er et støpejernsfyr bygget i Fyret ble automatisert i Fyret ble tidligere bebodd av fyrmester og hans assistent. Lille Presteskjær Fyr kan leies til overnatting, møter, selskaper m.v. For å komme ut til fyret er det nødvendig med båttransport. Ellers er Lille Presteskjær åpent for allmennheten hele året. Tlf Rekefjord med verneverdig trehusbebyggelse i Åve. Den østlige delen av Rekefjord var en del av Sogndal Ladested. Her var det bradbenk, rekefabrikker, fiskemottak, sildekummer, anløpsted for Kystruten, utskipning av malm fra Blåfjell Gruver m.v. I dag finnes pukkverk på begge sider av fjorden og asfaltverk. Det gamle Tollpakkhuset fra tidlig på 1800-tallet er restaurert og eies av Sokndal Bygdetun. Moderne gjestekai på Malmkaien innerst i fjorden. 10. Nesvåg er et gammelt fiskevær med verneverdig sjøhusrekke. På Nesvåg finnes Nesvaag Sjø- og Motormuseum med gamle, restaurerte båtmotorer, Fiskarheim som kan brukes til mindre møter og sammenkomster. MS Sjødis er en sertifisert fiskeskøyte for 12 personer, og brukes til fiske-/sjøturer m.v. 3 robåter til utleie. 11. Hauge i Dalane (Haua) er kommunens administrasjonsenter med et rikt utvalg av butikker, bank, post i butikk, næringshage, servicebedrifter, kafeteria, informasjonskontor i kommunehuset Soknatun m.v. Besøk gjerne den flotte parken midt i sentrum hvor du kan slappe av og ta livet med ro. I parken ble Janteloven begravet i Her finnes gravstein over Janteloven som er erstattet med Anti-Janteloven. Besøk også Thildahaugen, som er et flott parkområde bak kirken. 12. Sokndal kirke fra 1803 med prekestol og altertavle fra 1600-tallet. Korskirke bygget i Louis XVI-stil. Sokndal kirke feiret i 2003 sitt 200-års jubileum med bl.a. deltakelse av H. M. Kong Harald. Tlf Fruktbarhetskult på Rosland. Gudehode, steinalter og blotingskar fra eldre jernalder ca år gammelt. Sagnet forteller at alteret ble brukt til hesteofringer til guden Frøy. 8

Janteloven er begravd. /Janteloven (the law of jealousy!) is dead. / Janteloven gilt hier nicht. Aktiviteter 14. Sogndalstrand Golfbane ligger idyllisk plassert på Kjelland, nær det gamle ladestedet. Banen spilles på 6 hull, par 19. Selv om størrelsen er begrenset, vil du finne utfordringer også som øvet golfspiller. Fiske. Det er kort vei fra du løsner fortøyningen til du er ute på åpne havet med mange gode fiskeplasser. Hvis du heller ønsker å prøve fiskelykken med beina på fastlandet, har du muligheter i lakseelva Sokna eller i en rekke innlandsvann med gode muligheter for fangst. Kjøp av fiskekort: Lakseelva Sokna: MS Sjødis, sertifisert fiskeskøyte, kan leies til fisketurer eller til turkjøring. I tillegg er det 3 robåter m/redskap til leie. Tlf D y k k ing er det gode muligheter for mange steder utenfor kysten. Gode turmuligheter i flott turterreng. Mange merkede turløyper og toppturer. Sokndal er en del av The North Sea Cycle Route som går gjennom Sokndal. Sokndal er også en del av Nordsjøløypa, som har merket tur mellom Jøssingfjord og Sogndalstrand. Stavanger Turistforening leier kommunens eiendom på Gaudland med overnattingsmuligheter, fiskevann og mange fine turløyper. Dalane Friluftsråd: dalane Sokndal Havrafting & Fritid har en hurtiggående båt som brukes til spenning og opplevelser langs Dalanekysten. Tlf Malmtoget har 2 vogner, plass til 36 passasjerer, faste turer til Blåfjell og brukes i forbindelse med ulike arrangement. Kan leies av grupper. Tlf Gjestekai. På Malmkaien i Rekefjord er det moderne gjestekai med alle fasiliteter. På gjestekaien finnes sykler til gratis utlån. Sykling. I Sokndal finnes en rekke fine muligheter for sykling. Veiene i Sokndal er lite trafikkert og passer godt for sykling. Sykkelløypa Nordsjøløypa - The North Sea Cycle Route - går gjennom Sokndal. Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell har 20 sykler til utleie. Here is a short summary of all the opportunities: Attractions 1. Åna-Sira lies on the boundary between the municipalities of Flekkefjord and Sokndal and the counties of Rogaland and Vest-Agder. The river bisects the village. It is an old fishing village with a church, inter-municipal school, shrimp processing plant and power station. Åna-Sira Grensehandel is a local grocery store owned by the villagers. The store also functions as the tourist information centre. 2. Jøssingfjord famous for the Altmark affair the first act of war on Norwegian soil during the second world war on 16 February Memorial and information board. Innermost in Jøssingfjord lie two houses below Helleren, an ancient settlement. The houses date from the end of the 1700s to the beginning of the 1800s. On the path to the houses there is a bronze plaque commemorating Kjell Aukrust s character Mysil Bergsprekken, who reputedly was born underneath a rock ledge in Jøssingfjord in North Sea trail between Jøssingfjord and Sogndalstrand. Climb the tops from Helleren to Hellershei around 2 hours, beautiful views. Hillclimb with marked trail with guide in Hellersdalen. 3. Titania AS, the world's largest ilmenite mine, is the cornerstone company of the municipality. It is operated as an open cast mine and its enormous size makes it well worth a visit. Norway s largest truck loader. Tours for groups with a guide. 4. Blåfjell Mines were operated during the period of 1863 to The ore from the mine was shipped from Rekefjord. Railroad tracks were constructed between Blåfjell and Rekefjord. This is currently a pleasant walking and bicycle path. There is a beautiful trail from the bathing spot Linepollen inwards to Blåfjellet. 5. Ruggesteinen is Northern Europe s largest rocking stone, a boulder weighing 74 tons. Park at the Linepollen bathing spot and walk inwards to Ruggesteinen and the disused Blåfjell mines. 6. The Myssa peace cairn consists of stones from all of Norway municipalities. The peace cairn was unveiled on 4 October 2004 by Erik Solheim. There is a nice walk from county road 1 to the cairn. 7. Sogndalstrand cultural environment was protected by parliament on 24 June 2005 and consists of wooden buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries and the surrounding cultural landscape. The only village in Norway where both the buildings and the cultural landscape are protected. It is an old small seaport and was a separate municipality until 1944 when it was merged with Sokndal municipality. A former trading centre for the surrounding area. In the last few years it has experienced quite a boom with the establishment of Sogndalstrand culture hotel, Galleri Rosengren, Horneland Landhandel, Bryggegalleriet, a fishing museum, Sogndalstrand Havrafting & Fritid, Sogndalstrand Golf Course, Sogndalstrand Amfi, Sogndalstrand sculpture jetty, wild sheep, marked summit trails, the North Sea Cycle Route between Sogndalstrand and Jøssingfjord, a café and more. Today, Sogndalstrand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rogaland Lille Presteskjær Fyr (Little Presteskjær Lighthouse) a cast iron lighthouse standing at the mouth of Rekefjord. Built in 1895 and automated in Formerly occupied by a lighthouse keeper and his assistant. Available for let for holidays, conferences, parties etc. Can only be reached by boat. Open to the public all year. Tel Rekefjord, with protected wooden buildings in Åve. The eastern part of Rekefjord was a part of Sogndal seaport. There were repair docks, a shrimp factory, landing of fish, herring vats, port of call for the coastal ferry, shipping of ore from the Blåfjell mine etc. There are ore mines and an asphalt works along the sides of the fjord. The old customs warehouse dating from the early 1800s has been restored and is owned by Sokndal Bygdetun. There is a modern public wharf at Malmkaien deep in the fjord. 10. Nesvåg is an old fishing village with a protected collection of sea houses. At Nesvåg there is Nesvaag Sea and Engine museum displaying old, restored, boat engines and Fiskarheim which may be used for smaller meetings and gatherings. MS Sjødis is a certified fishing boat that can carry 12 people and is used for fishing/sea trips, etc. Three rowing boats for rent. 11. Hauge i Dalane (Haua) is the municipality s centre of administration with a wide selection of shops, a bank, an in-store post office, a business centre, services, a cafeteria, tourist information office in the town hall in Soknatun, and more. Pay a visit to the lovely park in the town centre where you can relax and take it easy. The Jante Law, a Scandinavian cultural code equivalent to the tall poppy syndrome or the who-do-you-think-you-are attitude, was buried in the park in There is a tombstone for the Jante Law, which has been replaced by the anti-jante law. 12. A new organ was inaugurated in Sokndal church celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2003 and was visited by His Majesty King Harald. Phone no Fertility cult at Rosland. A god s head, stone altar and blood vessel from the early iron age approximately 2000 years old. The legend tells that the altar was used for sacrificing horses to the god Frøy. Activities 14. Sogndalstrand Golf Course is idyllically located at Kjelland, close to the old seaport. It is a 6 hole, par 19 course. Despite the limited size, even experienced golfers will find challenges. Sogndalstrand Golf Course consists of 5 relatively long and demanding par three holes and a par four hole. You won t have to spend the entire day on a round of golf and you can combine your visit to Sogndalstrand with other activities. If you bring your fishing rod, you can take a break at hole five and try your luck in the Sokna salmon river which is just a long putt from the green. Fishing. After casting off the mooring lines, it is only a short trip to the open sea and numerous good fishing spots. If you would rather try your luck with your feet on solid ground, you could try the Sokna salmon river or one of the numerous lakes. The Stavanger Trekking Association rents the municipality s property at Gaudland with accommodation, fishing lakes and numerous trails. Dalane outdoor recreation office: Sokndal Havrafting & Fritid has a speedboat which is used for exciting trips along the Dalane coast. Åna-Sira an der Grenze zwischen den Orten Flekkefjord und Sokndal und den Fylken Rogaland und Vest-Agder. Der Ort zu beiden Seiten des Flusses gleichen Namens ist ein altes Fischerdorf, das trotz seiner bescheidenen Größe über eine Kirche, eine interkommunale Schule, eine Krabbenfabrik und ein Kraftwerk verfügt. Und über einen Laden, "Åna-Sira Grensehandel", der von einer dorfeigenen Genossenschaft getragen wird und auch die "Turistinformasjon" unterhält. 2. Jøssingfjord ist Geschichtskundigen als Ort der Altmark-Affäre bekannt auf norwegischem Boden die erste Kriegshandlung des Zweiten Weltkriegs am 16. Februar Daran erinnern ein Gedenkstein und eine Infotafel. Am inneren Ende des Jøssingfjords stehen zwei Häuschen unter einem Felsvorsprung, der schon den Höhlenmenschen Schutz bot. Die Häuser wurden um die Wende vom 18. zum 19. Jh. gebaut. Entlang des Pfads zu den Häusern befindet sich eine Gedenktafel aus Bronze, die an Kjell Aukrusts Figur Mysil Bergsprekken, der angeblich 1918 unter einem Felsüberhang im Jøssingfjord geboren wurde, erinnert.
