Installatin 1 Water and misture D nt use this unit near water, such as near a bathtub, washbwl, swimming pl, r the like. 2 Heat D nt use this unit near heat surces, including heating vents, stves, r ther appliances that generate heat. It als shuld nt be placed in temperatures less than 5 C r higher than 35 C. 3 Munting surface Place the unit n a flat, even surface. 4 Ventilatin The unit shuld be situated with adequate space arund it s that prper heat ventilatin is assured. Allw 10 cm clearance frm the rear and the tp f the unit, and 5 cm frm each side. - D nt place the unit n a bed, rug, r similar surface that may blck the ventilatin penings. - D nt install the unit in a bkcase, cabinet, r airtight rack where ventilatin may be impeded. 5 Objects and liquid entry Take care that bjects r liquids d nt get inside the unit thrugh the ventilatin penings. 6 Carts and stands When placed r munted n a stand r cart, the unit shuld be mved with care. Quick stps, excessive frce, and uneven surfaces may cause the unit r cart t verturn r fall. 7 Wall r ceiling munting The unit shuld nt be munted n a wall r ceiling, unless specified in the Operating Instructins. Electric Pwer 1 Pwer surces Cnnect this unit nly t pwer surces specified in the Operating Instructins, and as marked n the unit. 2 AC pwer crd - When discnnecting the AC pwer crd, pull it ut by the AC pwer plug. D nt pull the crd itself. - Never handle the AC pwer plug with wet hands, as this culd result in fire r shck. - Pwer crds shuld be firmly secured t avid being severely bent, pinched, r walked upn. Pay particular attentin t the crd frm the unit t the pwer scket. - Avid verlading AC pwer sckets and extensin crds beynd their capacity, as this culd result in fire r shck. 3 When nt in use Unplug the AC pwer crd frm the AC pwer scket if the unit will nt be used fr several mnths r mre. When the crd is plugged in, a small amunt f current cntinues t flw t the unit, even when the pwer is turned ff. NOTE AIWA CO. 4 PREPARATIONS CONNECTIONS Befre cnnecting the AC crd The rated vltage f yur unit shwn n the rear panel is 230 V AC. Check that the rated vltage matches yur lcal vltage. IMPORTANT Cnnect the speakers, antennas, and all ther external equipment first. Then cnnect the AC crd at the end. CONNECTING EQUIPMENT Jacks and plugs f the cnnecting crd are clr-cded as fllws: Red jacks and plugs : Fr the right channel f audi signals White jacks and plugs: Fr the left channel f audi signals Yellw jacks and plugs: Fr vide signals NOTE Insert the plugs fully int the jacks. Lse cnnectins may prduce a humming sund r ther nise interference. * 1 Be sure t cnnect the VIDEO OUT terminal f a DVD player directly t a TV set, nt thrugh this unit. Otherwise, the picture nise may appear when playing cpy prtected DVDs. * 2 Input sund thrugh the digital in terminals (VIDEO 2 COAXIAL IN, VIDEO 1 OPTICAL IN) cannt be recrded. When recrding the sund frm the DVD, CD, MD r LD player, cnnect the analg AUDIO OUT terminals f the player t the crrespnding AUDIO IN terminals f the receiver. * 3 When cnnecting a mnaural vide, use a stere-mn cnnecting crd (nt supplied). * 4 When cnnecting an LD player equipped with the AC-3 RF OUT terminal, use an RF demdulatr unit. Check that the crd is cnnected securely. - the center speaker crd t the CENTER SPEAKER terminals - the surrund speaker crds t the SURROUND SPEAKERS terminals. Lift up the terminal flap, insert the speaker crd lead int the terminal slt, then clse the flap. Check that the crd is cnnected securely. - fr mre pwerful bass, the sub wfer (with a built-in amplifier) crd t the SUB WOOFER 3 jack When cnnecting the sub wfer, be sure t select the SUBW ON (sub wfer n) mde (see page 6). Surrund speakers En Speaker impedance Fr all speakers, use speakers f 8 hms r mre. Cnnecting + t +, t terminals T get the prper sund effect, the speaker terminals n the unit and the speaker shuld be cnnected with prper plarity; the + terminal n the unit shuld be cnnected t the + terminal n the speaker (and t ). NOTE Be sure t cnnect the speaker crds crrectly as shwn in the illustratin n the right clumn. Imprper cnnectins can cause shrt circuits in the SPEAKER(S) terminals. D nt leave bjects generating magnetism near the speakers. Sub wfer Center speaker ENGLISH 5

6 POSITIONING THE SPEAKERS Psitin the speakers t make the mst f Dlby, DTS r DSP surrund effect. Frnt speakers (L/R) Center speaker (C) Psitin in the center f the tw frnt speakers. In additin, psitin n r belw the TV set, if cnnecting a TV set t the unit. Surrund speakers (LS/RS) Place the surrund speakers directly t the side f r slightly behind the listening area. Align them hrizntally, abut 1 meter (3.2 feet) abve ear height. Sub wfer (SW) Place the sub wfer in any place between the tw frnt speakers. When cnnecting a sub wfer Select SUBW ON mde. 1. Press MANUAL SELECT n the remte cntrl nce s that SUBW OFF appears n the display. 2. Within 4 secnds, press TUNING DOWN M r turn MULTI JOG t the left t display SUBW ON. If a sub wfer is nt cnnected, be sure t select SUBW OFF. Display SUBW ON in step 1 and press TUNING UP N r turn MULTI JOG t the right in step 2. CONNECTING THE SUPPLIED ANTENNAS 3 Cnnect the FM antenna t the FM 75 Ω terminal and the MW/ LW antenna t the MW/LW LOOP jack. FM antenna MW/LW antenna T stand the MW/LW lp antenna n a surface Fix the claw t the slt as shwn in the illustratin. NOTE Sund frm the surrund speakers r center speaker depends n the setting f Dlby, DTS r DSP surrund. T psitin the antennas FM feeder antenna: Extend fully and psitin fr the best pssible receptin. This antenna is f an instant type, s the use f an utdr antenna is recmmended. MW/LW lp antenna: Psitin fr the best receptin. NOTE D nt bring the FM antenna near metal bjects r curtain rails. D nt bring the MW/LW antenna near ther external equipment, the unit itself, the AC pwer crd r speaker crds, as nise will be picked up. D nt unwind the MW/LW lp antenna wire. CONNECTING AN OUTDOOR ANTENNA USING AC OUTLETS ON THE UNIT 2 The unit is equipped with AC utlets. Yu can use them nce the unit is cnnected t an AC utlet n a wall. D nt cnnect equipment beynd their capacity (120 W MAX. and TOTAL) Fr better FM receptin, use f an utdr antenna is recmmended. Cnnect the utdr antenna t the FM 75 Ω terminal. 6 ENGLISH

7 ABOUT THE REMOTE CONTROL Inserting batteries Detach the battery cver n the rear f the remte cntrl and insert tw R6 (size AA) batteries. Operating AIWA CD r DVD players with the remte cntrl Yu can cntrl the basic functins f AIWA CD r DVD players with the remte cntrl. In principle, the buttns described belw have the same functin as thse n the DVD r CD players. Fr mre details, refer t the perating instructins f the player. PREPARATIONS When t replace the batteries The maximum peratinal distance between the remte cntrl and the sensr n the unit shuld be apprximately 5 meters (16 feet). When this distance decreases, replace the batteries with new nes. Using the remte cntrl The instructins in this manual refer mainly t the buttns n the main unit. In principle the buttns n the remte cntrl and the main unit with identical r similar indicatins have the same functins. Sme buttns have tw functins. T use the functin indicated n the buttn, r n the plate in black, simply press the buttn. T use the functin indicated n the plate in green, press the buttn while pressing SHIFT. Imprtant ENTER n the remte cntrl des nt substitute fr ENTER n the main unit. This buttn is fr perating the DVD player nly (see right clumn.) T select the functin (audi surce) with the remte cntrl Press FUNCTION repeatedly. The functin changes cyclically. NOTE If the unit is nt ging t be used fr an extended perid f time, remve the batteries t prevent pssible electrlyte leakage. The remte cntrl may nt perate crrectly when: - The line f sight between the remte cntrl and the remte sensr in the display windw is expsed t intense light, such as direct sunlight. - Other remte cntrls are used nearby (thse f a televisin, etc.) Operating CD players Press the fllwing buttn. c/a(cd) - Starts r pauses playback. f,g - Searches a track. Hld the buttn dwn. r(cd),t(cd) - Skips a track. Press the buttn repeatedly. s - Stps playback. DISC SKIP(CD) - Skips a disc in the CD changer. Operating DVD players Press the fllwing buttn while pressing SHIFT. c - Starts playback. f,g - Searches a track. s - Stps playback. i,k,j,l (up, dwn, left r right) - Mves the cursr t select a prgram etc. AUDIO - Changes an audi track (language etc.) ENTER - Enters the selected prgram etc. TITLE r MENU - Enters the title r menu screen. RETURN - Returns t the previus mde etc. DVD PAUSE - Pauses the playback f a DVD. NOTE There are sme AIWA COMPACT DISC PLAYERs fr which sme f the functins f the remte cntrl d nt wrk. En ENGLISH 7

8 BEFORE OPERATION POWER ECONOMIZING (ECO) MODE Setting this unit t ECO mde reduces pwer cnsumptin in standby mde. Initial setting f ECO mde is ON. When the current time is set, the clck display disappears immediately. While the pwer is ff, all the display lights turn ff, and nly the ECO indicatr lights in red. T cancel ECO mde 1 Press ECO t display ECO MODE while the unit is turned n. 2 Within 4 secnds, press ENTER. 3 Within 4 secnds, turn MULTI JOG t select ECO OFF. The mde will be autmatically set after 4 secnds. It will als be set if ENTER is pressed within 4 secnds after step 3. T turn the unit n Press POWER 6STANDBY/ON. Operatin is pssible after fur secnds. The VOL (vlume) level r functin name is displayed ne after the ther fr the first fur secnds. The selected functin indicatr lights up in red. T change the brightness level f the display 1 Press ECO repeatedly until DIM MODE is displayed. 2 Within 4 secnds, press ENTER. 3 Within 4 secnds, turn MULTI JOG t select the dimmer mde as belw. The mde will be autmatically set after 4 secnds. It will als be set if ENTER is pressed within 4 secnds after step 3. - DIM-OFF: The nrmal display. DIMMER 1: The illuminatin f the display is dimmer than usual. DIMMER 2: The illuminatin f the display is dimmer than DIMMER 1. The functin indicatr turns ff. Using the headphnes Cnnect headphnes t the PHONES jack with a standard stere plug (ø6.3 mm, 1/4 inch). Be sure t set FRONT SPEAKERS t hoff. Otherwise sund is utput frm the speakers. NOTE When the headphnes are plugged in: - The Dlby Pr Lgic r DSP system is autmatically canceled. - The Dlby Digital r DTS surrund mde is changed t 2chSTEREO (2CH DOWNMIX). T turn the unit ff, press POWER 6STANDBY/ON. 8 ENGLISH

9 SETTING THE CLOCK When the AC crd is cnnected fr the first time, the clck n the display flashes. Set the time as fllws while the pwer is ff. 1 Press ENTER. The display becmes a little brighter. T crrect the current time Press POWER 6STANDBY/ON t turn the unit ff. Carry ut steps 1 t 3 abve. T display the current time Press CLOCK while pressing SHIFT n the remte cntrl. The clck is displayed fr 4 secnds. When perating n the main unit, press CLOCK while the pwer is n and ENTER while the pwer is ff (standby). T switch t the 24-hur standard Display the current time, and press BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG n the unit within 4 secnds. Repeat the same prcedure t restre the 12-hur standard. In the 12-hur standard, AM 12:00 indicates midnight and PM 12:00 indicates nn. If the clck display flashes while the pwer is ff This is caused by a pwer interruptin. The current time needs t be reset. If pwer is interrupted fr mre than apprximately 24 hurs, all settings stred in memry after purchase need t be reset. PREPARATIONS 2 Within 4 secnds, turn MULTI JOG t designate the hur and the minute. The time advances by turning it t the right, and decreases by turning it t the left. N/M n the main unit is als available. Press the buttn repeatedly. T change the time rapidly in 10-minute steps, hld it dwn. En 3 Press ENTER. The clck starts frm 00 secnds. NOTE When the clck is set fr the first time after purchase Everything n the display will clear. This is because the pwer ecnmizing mde f the unit is activated, and is nt a malfunctin. The pwer ecnmizing mde can be canceled. See page 8 fr details. ENGLISH 9

10 SOUND CUSTOM AUDIO ADJUSTMENT SUPER T-BASS SYSTEM The T-BASS system enhances the realism f lw-frequency sund. Press T-BASS. Each time it is pressed, the level changes. Select ne f the three levels, r the ff psitin t suit yur preference. VOLUME CONTROL Turn VOLUME n the unit, r press VOL n the remte cntrl. The vlume level is shwn n the display fr fur secnds. It can be adjusted between 0 and MAX (50). It flashes when set ver the level f 44. The vlume level remains memrized even after the pwer is turned ff. Hwever, if the pwer is turned ff when the vlume is set t 21 r higher, it is autmatically set t 20 the next time the pwer is turned n. T adjust the left/right balance f the frnt speakers Press BALANCE t display L/R 0dB. Then press N/M repeatedly r turn MULTI JOG within fur secnds. Nte that the frnt speaker balance fr the Dlby and DTS surrund is als changed. T mute the sund temprarily Press MUTING (MUTE) ( 20 db). MUTE ON appears n the display fr fur secnds. While muting the sund, the selected functin indicatr flashes. Press MUTING again t restre the sund. NOTE Lw-frequency sund may be distrted when the T-BASS system is used fr a disc r tape in which lw-frequency sund is riginally emphasized. In this case, cancel the T-BASS system. SOURCE DIRECT FUNCTION Yu can cancel all the sund adjustments (except the vlume), with their settings kept in memry, t listen t the riginal surce sund. Press SOURCE DIRECT. SOURCE DIRECT runs thrugh n the display and the indicatr lights up. Press it again t restre the sund adjustments. NOTE While the surce direct functin is activated TAPE MONITOR and all the buttns t adjust the sund cannt be used. The surce direct functin is nt available in digital mde. TONE CONTROL Yu can adjust treble and bass sund. 1 Press TREBLE r BASS. 2 Within 4 secnds, press M/N repeatedly r turn MULTI JOG t select the desired level. SOUND ADJUSTMENT DURING RECORDING The utput vlume and tne f the speakers r headphnes may be freely varied withut affecting the level f the recrding. Bth the levels can be adjusted between -10 db and +10 db in 2 db steps. TONE is displayed while the TREBLE r BASS cntrl is activated. T adjust with the remte cntrl 1 Press GEQ repeatedly while pressing SHIFT t display TREBLE r BASS. 2 Press TUNING DOWN r UP while pressing SHIFT t adjust the level. 10 ENGLISH

11 DSP SURROUND T adjust the vlume f the surrund speakers 1 Press MANUAL SELECT n the remte cntrl three times t display S 0dB while the DSP system is turned n. 2 Within 4 secnds, press TUNING DOWN r UP while pressing SHIFT n the remte cntrl. T perate n the unit, press N/M repeatedly r turn MULTI JOG. NOTE The DSP surrund system is autmatically canceled and cannt be turned n: - When headphnes are plugged in. - When the bit stream f Dlby Digital r DTS surrund cmes in the unit in DIGITAL mde. - When the SOURCE DIRECT functin is activated. The DSP surrund system is autmatically canceled when the Dlby Pr Lgic system is turned n, and vice versa. SOUND The DSP (Digital Signal Prcessr) surrund circuits can recreate the effect f sunds reflected frm walls r ceilings, t btain the sund presence f real envirnments. The unit prvides 5 DSP preset mdes. 1 Press DSP. 2 Within 4 secnds, press M/N repeatedly r turn MULTI JOG t select the desired DSP mde. The DSP and S (surrund speakers) indicatrs light up. En Selected mde When the music surce is mnaural The DSP system may nt wrk effectively. T cancel the selected mde Press DSP t display the DSP mde name, and press the buttn again within 4 secnds. DSP OFF appears n the display. T select with the remte cntrl 1 Press DSP. 2 Within 4 secnds, press TUNING UP r DOWN repeatedly while pressing SHIFT until the desired DSP mde is displayed. 5 preset mdes can be selected. ENGLISH 11

12 BASIC OPERATIONS SELECTION OF AUDIO/VIDEO SOURCE T select the vide surce 1 Turn FUNCTION t select PHONO, CD r AUX. 2 Press ENTER t display VIDEO 1. 3 Turn MULTI JOG t select VIDEO 2 r VIDEO 3. T change a displayed name fr the VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2 functin When the VIDEO 1 functin is selected, VIDEO 1 is displayed initially. It can be changed t DVD r MD. Press BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG while pressing ENTER, then release ENTER first. The displayed name fr the VIDEO 2 functin can be changed t VIDEO 2, LD r TV; while the VIDEO 2 functin is selected, press BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG while pressing ENTER, then release ENTER first. 1 Select the prgram surce. Turn FUNCTION r press TAPE MONITOR. The selected functin indicatr lights in red. T listen t r watch Tape Radi Recrd Cmpact disc Televisin, etc. Vide LD r Cable TV MD r DVD The indicatr in red TAPE MONITOR TUNER PHONO CD AUX VIDEO 1/DVD/MD, VIDEO 2/LD/TV, VIDEO 3 VIDEO 2/LD/TV VIDEO 1/DVD/MD The functin t be selected (except PHONO) depends n the equipment cnnected t the input terminals n the rear panel f the unit. T select with the remte cntrl Press TAPE MONITOR r FUNCTION repeatedly. NOTE When using a turntable with a built-in equalizer amplifier, set the switch f the equalizer amplifier t ff. See the instructins f the turntable fr further infrmatin. 2 Start the selected prgram surce. 3 Adjust the sund. T select ANALOG r DIGITAL (aut) mde f the VIDEO 1 r VIDEO 2 functin Press BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG when the VIDEO 1 r VIDEO 2 functin is selected. The selected mde ANALOG r DIGITAL appears n the display. In DIGITAL mde: Equipment cnnected t the VIDEO 1 OPTICAL IN terminal is selected as a surce fr the VIDEO 1 functin, and equipment cnnected t the VIDEO 2 COAXIAL IN terminal fr the VIDEO 2 functin. In ANALOG mde: Equipment cnnected t the VIDEO 1/DVD/ MD IN terminals is selected as a surce fr the VIDEO 1 functin, and equipment cnnected t the VIDEO 2/LD/TV terminals fr the VIDEO 2 functin. NOTE DIGITAL mde changes t ANALOG, when pressing TAPE MONITOR. When the OVER LEVEL indicatr lights up The unit is equipped with the OVER LEVEL indicatr. When input analg signals frm the cnnected equipment are t high t accept, the indicatr lights up. In this case, adjust the input level as mentined belw s that the indicatr disappears. T adjust the sund level f the cnnected surce The input sensitivity level f each functin can be adjusted (except the TUNER, VIDEO 1 (DIGITAL) and VIDEO 2 (DIGITAL) functins). Befre peratin Check that TAPE MONITOR r SOURCE DIRECT is nt activated. When cnnecting an LD player equipped with the AC-3 RF OUT terminal, use an RF demdulatr unit. Als cnnect the analg AUDIO OUT terminals f the LD player t the receiver t play all the surces. Fr further infrmatin, refer t the instructins f the LD player. 1 Turn FUNCTION t select the VIDEO 1 (VIDEO 2) functin and press BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG repeatedly until DIGITAL (aut) is displayed. BASIC OPERATIONS En NOTE While TAPE MONITOR r SOURCE DIRECT is activated, DIGITAL cannt be selected. When headphnes are plugged in, Dlby Digital surrund mde r DTS surrund mde is autmatically changed t 2chSTEREO and the STEREO indicatr lights n the display. Even if SURROUND is pressed while the headphnes are plugged in, the mde cannt be changed. This unit supprts input signals f the Dlby Digital surrund bit stream, DTS surrund bit stream and linear PCM whse sampling frequency is 32 khz, 44.1 khz and 48 khz. When cnnecting sme DVD players t the receiver thrugh the digital in terminals, nise may be heard in the DVD peratin: e.g. searching a disc, skipping a chapter. Selecting DTS digital mde There are sme audi CDs recrded in DTS surrund. Yu can play DTS audi CDs in the same way as DVDs, but there may be a nise at the beginning part f the disc. When playing DTS audi CDs, it is recmmended t select DTS digital mde. 1 Select ANALOG mde. 2 Hld dwn BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG until DTS appears n the display. FM MW LW 2 Press N / M t select a statin (Manual tuning). When the tuner detects * 2 identical RDS statins with alternative frequencies Only the statin with the strnger signal is stred. Befre string an RDS statin, the tuner checks first whether the same statins n the ther frequencies are present, and stres the statin with the best receptin. It enables receivers equipped with memry t stre the list, t reduce the time needed fr switching t anther transmitter. * 3 Prgram service statin name (PS) This is a name cnsisting f nt mre than 8 alphanumeric characters, which is displayed in rder t infrm listeners abut the prgram service being bradcast by the radi statin. Example: BBC 1 Characters If a character transmitted by the bradcast is nt applicable t receivers, a blank space is inserted. * 4 Raditext (RT) Infrmatin such as the cast list f a play r the title f a sng is shwn n the display. When a statin is nt fund NOT FOUND is displayed and the unit returns t the previus statin. When the TRAFFIC prgram type is selected The unit searches fr a statin transmitting a * 7 TP cde. Hwever, the tuned statin may nt be bradcasting a traffic annuncement currently. Wait fr a while. The tuned statin bradcasts traffic infrmatin regularly and a traffic annuncement will be made. OTHER FUNCTION OF RDS CODES Clck-time (* 8 CT) The CT functin prvides the unit with infrmatin abut the lcal time. Once the CT functin is set t n, the clck time will be updated every hur n the hur whenever a CT statin is received. T activate the CT functin Hld dwn CT until CT ON appears n the display. RADIO RECEPTION EON SEARCH During FM receptin, the unit switches t radi prgrams with the specified PTY autmatically as sn as they begin. 1 Press PTY. The prgram type f the currently tuned statin is displayed. 2 Within 4 secnds, press N / M t select a prgram type. 3 Within 4 secnds, press ENTER. EON ON is displayed fr 3 secnds. Then, the EON indicatr starts flashing and the unit enters EON search standby mde. When radi prgram with the specified PTY in anther radi statin begins, it interrupts the currently playing radi prgram and the radi prgram with the specified PTY is heard. At this time, the EON indicatr flashes rapidly. At the end f the radi prgram with the specified PTY, the previus FM radi statin is restred. EON search standby mde is stred until it is cancelled even if the pwer is turned ff. T cancel EON search standby mde Keep PTY pressed. (D nt release PTY yet.) EON PTY and the specified PTY are displayed alternately. At this time, press ENTER with pressing PTY. EON OFF is displayed and EON search standby mde is cancelled. T change the MW tuning interval The default setting f the MW tuning interval is 9 khz/step. If yu use the unit in an area where the frequency allcatin system is 10 khz/step, change the tuning interval as fllws. Hld dwn BAND/DIGITAL/ANALOG and press POWER 6STANDBY/ON. T reset the interval, repeat this prcedure. NOTE When the MW tuning interval is changed, all preset statins are cleared. The preset statins have t be set again. Independent cntrl f the five channels allws the listener t enjy the same type f sund reprductin experienced in mvie theaters. Vices are reprduced in the frnt and center sund field, while ambient sunds like cars and crwds are reprduced n all sides f the listener fr an incredibly lifelike audi/vide experience. Please read the fllwing carefully t tune the system s utput t match the characteristics f yur listening space. Dlby Pr Lgic The speakers delay time is initially set t 20 ms. It can be adjusted between 15 and 30 ms in 5 ms steps. NOTE When adjusting the delay time f the surrund speakers r center speaker fr Dlby Digital surrund, that f Dlby Pr Lgic is changed, and vice versa. When the surrund speakers delay time f Dlby Digital surrund is set t 0 ms (5 ms, 10 ms, r 15 ms), that f Dlby Pr Lgic is set t 15 ms (20 ms, 25 ms r 30 ms), and vice versa. The sund level f the LFE signals can be adjusted accrding t yur speakers while Dlby Digital r DTS surrund is activated. Preparatin When cnnecting a sub-wfer, select SUBW ON (see page 6). Play a disc recrded in Dlby Digital r DTS surrund. [MIN] Yu can enjy the full dynamic range f sund like in the mvie theater. [STD] Original psitin, when playing back in hme, that is recmmended by the sftware prducers. [MAX] Select this mde when playing back at lw vlume. This is the mde used with the midnight setting. The full DTS surrund effect cannt be btained when using sftware nt recrded in DTS surrund. In this case, use the DSP surrund system instead (see page 11). When headphnes are plugged in, DTS surrund mde is autmatically changed t 2chSTEREO. While headphnes are plugged in, DTS surrund mde cannt be changed. TO LISTEN TO THE ORIGINAL DTS SOUND When dts appears n the display, all the sund settings can be canceled. 1 While DTS surrund is activated, press ENTER s that BYPASSOFF appears n the display. 2 Press ENTER again t display BYPASS ON. T restre the sund settings Repeat steps 1 and 2 s that BYPASSOFF appears. Preparatin When selecting DTS surrund mde, select the DIGITAL functin and play a disc recrded in DTS surrund befre selecting the mde. 1 Press SURROUND and turn MULTI JOG t select the apprpriate mde.
