Profil des Instituts Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Spandauer Str Berlin Tel Fax Web: Direktor: Prof. Oliver Günther, Ph.D. Oliver Günther was born on October 22, 1961 in Stuttgart, Germany. He received his Diplom in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in 1984, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985 and 1987, respectively. Since 1993 he has been Professor and Director of the Institute of Information Systems at Humboldt University. Since 1996, he has also been Chair of the Berlin- Brandenburg Graduate School of Distributed Information Systems. Professor Günther has conducted research projects in the areas of database management, distributed information management, geographic and environmental information systems, as well as knowledge-based systems. His list of publications includes 11 books and more than 90 papers on related topics. He is Associate Editor of GeoInformatica and the International Journal on Geographic Information Science. He was one of the founders of the SSD symposium series on spatial databases, and he has served on more than 40 conference program committees. Professor Günther also taught at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications and the Pole Universitaire Leonard de Vinci in Paris, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the University of Cape Town. He serves as a consultant and board member to various government agencies and high-tech companies. Lehrprogramm Grundstudium Die Belegung des 2-semestrigen Veranstaltungszyklus Grundlagen der Wirtschaftsinformatik ist für alle Studierenden der Volks- und Betriebswirtschaftslehre obligatorisch. Ziel der Vorlesung ist, die Studierenden mit den Grundlagen der Informatik und ihren Anwendungen in der Ökonomie vertraut zu machen. Neben einigen theoretischen Grundlagen stehen dabei Fragen des Softwareentwurfs und der Programmierung (Java), der PC-Nutzung (MS Windows, MS Office) sowie des Daten- und Informationsmanagements (SQL, SAP R/3) im Vordergrund. Die Veranstaltung Grundlagen der Wirtschaftsinformatik I (2 SWS Vorlesung + 1 SWS Übung/Rechnerpraktikum) wird in jedem Wintersemester angeboten. Die Veranstaltung Grundlagen der Wirtschaftsinformatik II (2 SWS Vorlesung + 1 SWS Übung/Rechnerpraktikum) wird in jedem Sommersemester angeboten. Hinzu kommen Übungszeiten zum freien Arbeiten am Rechner. Die Lehrinhalte beider Veranstaltungen werden komplett in Form einer vierstündigen Klausur (240 Minuten) geprüft. Diese Blockprüfung wird in jedem Semester angeboten. Hauptstudium Die zum 1. Oktober 1994 in Kraft getretene Prüfungsordnung sieht vor, daß das Fach Wirtschaftsinformatik im Hauptstudium entweder als Wahlpflichtfach oder als Besondere Betriebswirtschaftslehre gewählt werden kann. Die Anforderungen sehen den Besuch folgender fünf bzw. sechs Lehrveranstaltungen vor: 1.Einführung UNIX Diese Einführung wird an den ersten beiden Freitagen jedes Semesters, jeweils von 14 bis 18 Uhr angeboten. Es ist nur eine der beiden Veranstaltungen zu belegen. In den ersten beiden Semesterwochen finden keine Übungen zu den sonstigen Lehrveranstaltungen statt. 2. Software - Entwurf und Realisierung Diese Lehrveranstaltung wird in jedem Wintersemester angeboten und sollte gleich zu Beginn des Zyklus gehört werden. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte: Objektorientierte Modellierung (UML) (ca. 6 Wochen) Objektorientierte Implementierung (JAVA) (ca. 6 Wochen) Middleware (CORBA etc.) (ca. 4 Wochen) 3. Databases and Internet-Based Information Management (in English) Diese Lehrveranstaltung wird in jedem Sommersemester angeboten und sollte unmittelbar im Anschluss an Software - Entwurf und Realisierung gehört werden. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte: Datenbanken (6-8 Wochen) Internet-basierte Informationssysteme: WWW, Intranet, Extranet, semistrukturierte Daten, EDI/XML, ECommerce (4-6 Wochen) Data Warehouses, Data Mining, Sicherheit im Netz (ca. 4 Wochen) 4. Informations- und Kommunikationssysteme Diese Lehrveranstaltung wird in jedem Wintersemester angeboten. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte: Geschäftsprozess-/Systemanalyse, ARIS Betriebswirtschaftliche Standardsoftware (SAP R/3) und Workflow Groupware (Notes) - 2 -

(Nur für Studierende der BWL) Eine weitere Lehrveranstaltung aus dem Lehrangebot des Instituts für Wirtschaftsinformatik. Das Angebot an sonstigen Lehrveranstaltungen umfaßt derzeit folgende Vorlesungen und Seminare: Automatisierung betrieblicher Prozesse (Seminar) Betriebliche und globale Informationssysteme (Seminar, Wintersemester) Data Warehouses and Data Mining (Vorlesung und Übung, Wintersemester) Electronic Commerce: Konzeption, Realisierung und Bewertung (Seminar) Software Engineering (Vorlesung und Übung, Sommersemester) Umweltinformationssysteme und betriebliches Umweltmanagement (Vorlesung, Sommersemester) Web Information Systems and Data Mining (Seminar, Sommersemester) Workflow-Management-Systeme (Seminar) Die Lehrinhalte der Veranstaltungen 2 bis 5 (VWL) bzw. 2 bis 6 (BWL) werden in Form einer jeweils einstündigen Klausur (60 Minuten) geprüft. Für jede bestandene Klausur wird ein Leistungsschein im Umfang von je 2 SWS ausgestellt. Die Klausuren werden im allgemeinen jedes Semester angeboten; der verbindliche Prüfungsplan wird per Aushang bekanntgegeben. Zu beachten ist, daß sämtliche Wirtschaftsinformatik-Klausuren eines Prüfungszeitraums am selben Tag stattfinden. Bei Belegung als Besondere Betriebswirtschaftslehre können die Lehrinhalte der Veranstaltungen 1 bis 6 wahlweise komplett in Form einer vierstündigen Klausur geprüft werden. Um eine Diplomarbeit in Wirtschaftsinformatik abzulegen, ist es erforderlich, daß Wirtschaftsinformatik im Hauptstudium (als Besondere Betriebswirtschaftslehre oder als Wahlpflichtfach) belegt wurde. Es wird erwartet, daß jede(r) Diplomand(in) für mindestens ein Semester das Diplomanden- und Doktorandenseminar des Instituts für Wirtschaftsinformatik besucht. In diesem Semester muß spätestens bis zur Abgabe der Diplomarbeit beim Prüfungsamt auch ein Vortrag über die Ergebnisse der Diplomarbeit gehalten werden. Electronic Business Forum der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Das Electronic Business Forum wurde im August 1999 am Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik gegründet. Ziel des Forums ist eine intensive Interaktion zwischen Hochschulforschung und -lehre einerseits und unternehmerischer Praxis andererseits. Teilnehmer des Forums sind Studierende der Wirtschaftswissenschaften, die sich im Hauptstudium befinden und sich durch besondere Leistung qualifiziert haben. Die Zusammenarbeit mit der Praxis konzentriert sich auf innovative Geschäftsfelder im Bereich Electronic Business. Hier wird ein Austausch sowohl mit jungen Unternehmen als auch mit Risikokapitalgesellschaften und etablierten IT-Firmen gefördert. Für den kontinuierlichen Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis organisiert das Electronic Business Forum eine Reihe von Aktivitäten: Praxisprojekte mit studentischen Beratern Vortragsreihe, vornehmlich mit Referenten aus den Partnerfirmen Wissensaustausch mit Firmenpartnern (Groupware & Bibliothek) Special Events (z.b. Berliner Forum Electronic Commerce, ) Im Rahmen eines Praxisprojekts erstellen ausgewählte studentische Berater der Humboldt-Universität ein Konzept für mögliche einschlägige Aktivitäten eines Partnerunternehmens. Dies erlaubt den Partnerunternehmen, einerseits ihre Wettbewerbsposition in dem zunehmend wichtigen Umfeld Electronic Business zu stärken und andererseits qualifizierte Studenten als potentielle Wachstumspartner kennenzulernen. Die Projektinhalte orientieren sich in erster Linie an den konkreten Bedürfnissen des Partnerunternehmens. Rahmenbedingung ist, dass es sich um eine Problemstellung im thematischen Umfeld des Electronic Business handelt. Die Projektteams sind in themenbezogenen Arbeitsgruppen organisiert. Jede Arbeitsgruppe wählt einen oder zwei Studierende als Sprecher. Die Gesamtkoordination läuft über die Seminarleitung, die die Arbeitsgruppen anleitet und bewertet. Ein Projekt erstreckt sich über den Zeitraum eines Semesters (ca. 3 Monate), wobei die teilnehmenden Studierenden mindestens einen Arbeitstag pro Woche für das Projekt aufwenden

Prof. Günther war im WS 1996/97 Gastprofessor an der University of California in Berkeley und in den Jahren Gastprofessor an der Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications in Paris. Des weiteren zahlreiche Forschungsaufenthalte am International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, am INRIA Rocquencourt und am CSIRO in Canberra. Björn Rupp war im akademischen Jahr 1998/99 Gastforscher an der University of California in Berkeley, School of Information Management and Systems. 7. Promotionen Dr. rer. nat. Volker Gaede, Extending Query Optimization for Spatial Database Systems, Herr Dr. Gaede ist derzeit leitender Mitarbeiter der Oracle Deutschland GmbH. Dr. rer. pol. Hans-Knud Arndt, Entwurf von betrieblichen Umweltinformationssystemen im Spannungsfeld von Umweltmanagement, Umwelthaftung und Kostenrechnung, Herr Dr. Arndt ist derzeit wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Habilitand am Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik der Humboldt-Universität. Dr. rer. pol. Ildiko Knaack, Die Einführung von Vorgangsbearbeitungssystemen in der öffentlichen Verwaltung als ITorganisatorischer Gestaltungsprozess, Frau Dr. Knaack arbeitet inzwischen als selbstständige Projektverantwortliche bei der Firma INFORA, Köln und Berlin. Dr. rer. pol. Jan Röttgers, Metainformationssysteme im Umweltbereich, Herr Dr. Röttgers ist inzwischen bei der Immobilien-Treuhand und Vermögensanlage (ITAG) AG tätig. Dr. rer. pol. Gregor Poschmann, AGORA: Ein Group Decision Support System (GDSS) zur rechnerbasierten Unterstützung von unstrukturierten, vollständigen Entscheidungsprozessen, Dr. rer. pol. Hans-Arno Jacobsen, Distributed Infrastructure Support for Electronic Commerce Applications, Diese Promotion wurde mit dem IBM Best Paper Award 2000 und dem Humboldt-Preis 2000 ausgezeichnet.
