2 2 SECTION B Reading and Writing Recommended time for Section B: 1 hour In Section B there are 5 marks for Quality of Language. Aufgaben 3 bis 5 Diese Aufgaben beziehen sich alle auf den Text Eine historische Sensation. Eine historische Sensation Nach mehr als 100 Jahren hört man die Stimme von Bismarck! Vor kurzem wollten amerikanische Medienhistoriker auf einer historischen Phonograph- Aufnahme eine Stimme identifizieren und wendeten sich daher an den Deutschen Stephan Puille, einen international bekannten Experten für frühe Tonaufnahmen. Puille verbringt einen erheblichen Teil seiner Freizeit sozusagen in der Vergangenheit und ist immer auf der Suche nach frühen Audio-Aufzeichnungen. Ihn fasziniert die Zeit um 1900, insbesondere die Alltagskultur. Aus seiner Sicht ist es die gute alte Zeit, als Europa noch nicht von Weltkriegen erschüttert wurde und alles möglich schien. Ein Mann mit unverkennbar deutschem Akzent rezitiert auf diesen Aufnahmen aus einem amerikanischen Volkslied. Darauf folgen einige Verse auf Deutsch. Weiter spricht er die ersten Zeilen der Marseillaise, der französischen Nationalhymne. Die Rezitation endet mit dem Rat eines Vaters an seinen Sohn, Arbeit, Essen und Trinken in Maßen zu treiben. Die Aufnahmen, die man schon 1957 gefunden hatte, wurden neulich wieder untersucht, und erst dann hat man ihre mögliche Bedeutung erkannt. Es gelang den Forschern, zwölf der insgesamt siebzehn Aufnahmen abzuspielen und sie in digitale Audiofiles umzuwandeln. Schnell wurde klar, dass hier etwas Wichtiges war: Brahms selbst spielte darauf, und man hörte auch die erste Aufnahme eines Chopin-Stücks, von einem berühmten Kölner Pianisten gespielt. Und dann eine männliche Stimme: Friedrichsruh am 7. Oktober Für Puille war das ein klares Zeichen: Friedrichsruh war ja der Familiensitz der Bismarcks bei Hamburg. Die Stimme gehört ohne Zweifel dem 74-jährigen Otto von Bismarck. Es ist die einzige Audio- Aufnahme Bismarcks und entstand 1889 mit dem Phonographen, Erfindung des amerikanischen Wissenschaftlers Thomas Edison. Theo Wangemann, ein deutschstämmiger Mitarbeiter Edisons, reiste durch Europa, um den Phonographen öffentlich vorzuführen und Aufnahmen prominenter Stimmen zu machen. Könnte es sich aber um eine Fälschung handeln? Kommt gar nicht in Frage, meint Puille.
3 3 Aufgaben 6 bis 9 Diese Aufgaben beziehen sich alle auf den Text Roma in Deutschland. Roma in Deutschland Seit einer Woche wohnen etwa 80 rumänische Staatsbürger in einem Berliner Asylbewerberheim. Zuerst haben die Roma-Familien unter freiem Himmel in einem öffentlichen Park gelebt, dann besetzten sie eine Kirche in Kreuzberg. Mitglieder der Kirchengemeinde konnten die Roma schließlich überzeugen, mit Hilfe der Behörden in das Heim umzusiedeln. Geht gut hier, sagt eine Frau. Auf die Frage, warum sie nach Deutschland gekommen ist, führt sie ihre Hand in schnellen Bewegungen zum Mund. Aus Hunger. Sie schiebt ihren Kinderwagen mit einem kleinen Jungen darin weiter. Die Rumänen haben als Touristen ein Aufenthaltsrecht in Deutschland für drei Monate. Als EU-Bürger haben sie aber wenige Aussichten auf politisches Asyl trotz der Verschlechterung der Situation für Roma, sowohl in Rumänien als auch in Ungarn, wo rechte Parteien gegen sie hetzen. Auch in Bulgarien häufen sich rassistisch motivierte Anschläge. Roma und Sinti werden auch häufig Zigeuner genannt. Diesen Begriff lehnen sie als diskriminierend ab. Als Sinti bezeichnen sich Angehörige einer Gruppe, deren Vorfahren vermutlich vor rund 600 Jahren in das deutschsprachige Gebiet einwanderten. Gruppen, die später aus ost- und südosteuropäischen Ländern nach Deutschland gekommen sind, nennen sich Roma. In der NS-Zeit wurden Roma Opfer des Rassismus und kamen in Konzentrationslagern ums Leben. In dieser Zeit wurden deutsche Sinti als,zigeuner stigmatisiert; zwei Drittel bis drei Viertel von ihnen wurden ermordet. Heute wird die Zahl der Sinti und Roma, die deutsche Staatsangehörigkeit haben, auf etwa geschätzt. Vor allem in der letzten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts kamen Flüchtlinge und Arbeitsmigranten mit Roma-Zugehörigkeit nach Deutschland. Am 1. Februar 1998 trat das europäische Gesetz zum Schutz nationaler Minderheiten in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Kraft. Damit gelten auch die deutschen Sinti und Roma als Minderheit. Turn over

Wird die Situation besser oder schlimmer? 13 Die Umwelt: Energie Schreiben Sie einen Brief an eine Zeitung, in dem Sie argumentieren, dass der Energiebedarf in Deutschland nur mit Atomkraft gedeckt werden kann.
5 5 14 Naturwissenschaften und Technologie: Neues in der Technologie/Wissenschaftliche Fortschritte Kann man alle technologischen bzw. wissenschaftlichen Entwicklungen, die das Leben der Deutschen innerhalb der letzten fünfzig Jahre verändert haben, wirklich als Fortschritte bezeichnen? 15 Naturwissenschaften und Technologie: Wissenschaftliche Fortschritte/Medizinische Fortschritte Neulich gab es eine Demonstration gegen Tierversuche. Schreiben Sie einen Artikel für eine Schülerzeitung, in dem Sie argumentieren, warum Tierversuche für manche Produkte bzw.
