They bring the vision inside the human body, they make structures visible and deliver those images, surgeons need in order to perform a safe operation and to make the right decisions. As an experienced manufacturer we are obliged to integrate the engineering progress constantly in our product development. 4 1 Compatible Endoscopes Kompatible Endoskope Compatibility Kompatibilität Different endoscopy systems with individual sheath systems are used in the operation theatres worldwide. In order to give the surgeons the possibility to proit from the beneits of LUT endoscopes using the existing instrument sets we have compatible endoscopes, suitable to the most common systems, in our product range. In urology and gynecology we offer compatible endoscopes to brands Wolf, Olympus and ACMI. 5 1 Uretero-Renoscopes Uretero-Renoskope Uretero-Renoscopy Uretero-Renoskopie Uretero-renoscopy is used for diagnostic purposes but more often for therapy. For diagnostic, the ureterorenoscope (URS) is used for the examination of the ureter and the renal pelvis, in therapy e.g. for removal of stones. In order to insert the LUT URS smoothly and to offer an ideal view to the ureter and the ureteric oriice, the distal tip was realised with a special, atraumatic form. There is no need of camera re-focusing and no loss of picture while the URS is bended due to special ocular construction. The URS offers a safe and ergonomic handling because of a quick and easy locking/unlocking of the instrument bridge by a unique click-lock mechanism. This high-quality URS with semi-rigid sheath is fully autoclavable and meets all requirements for a safe sterilization. Die Uretero-Renoskopie dient zu diagnostischen, mehr aber noch zu therapeutischen Zwecken. Das Uretero- Renoskop (URS) wird dabei diagnostisch zur Spiegelung des Harnleiters und therapeutisch z. B. zur Entfernung von Steinen eingesetzt. Damit das LUT URS besonders schonend eingeführt werden kann und einen idealen Blick in Harnleiter und Nierenbecken bietet, wurde das distale Ende mit einer speziellen, atraumatischen Form realisiert. Um der Anatomie zu folgen wird das URS im Einsatz sanft gebogen. Dabei werden Bildausfall und Nachfokussieren der Kamera durch eine besondere Okularkonstruktion vermieden. Sicherheit und ergonomisches Arbeiten bietet die Schnellverriegelung der Instrumentenbrücke. Dieses hochwertige URS mit semi-lexiblem Schaft ist voll autoklavierbar und erfüllt alle Ansprüche an eine sichere Aufbereitung.

6 1 Percutaneous Nephroscope Perkutanes Nephroskop Nephroscopy Nephroskopie Nephroscopy is not common for diagnostic purposes. The intervention is made percutaneously, the main indication is the removal of kidney stones. Especially stones which are stucked in the renal pelvis or which are too big for the ureter. The nephroscopy can therefore be regarded as an alternative to ESWL. The percutaneous nephroscope from LUT consists of two integrated irrigation channels. The generous instrument channel offers together with the instrument bridge and a continuous low nephroscope sheath a safe set for nephroscopy. Adequate instruments as grasping forceps, micro scissors and threefold grasper can be ordered separately. Die Nephroskopie wird selten nur zu diagnostischen Zwecken eingesetzt. Der Eingriff indet perkutan, also durch die Haut, statt. Hauptindikation ist die Entfernung von Nierensteinen. Hier werden Steine behandelt, die sich im Nierenbecken verhakt haben oder zu groß sind, um durch den Harnleiter abzugehen. Die Nephroskopie kann somit alternativ zur Extrakorporalen Stoßwellen- Lithotripsie eingesetzt werden. Das perkutane Nephroskop von LUT, ausgestattet mit zwei integrierten Spülkanälen und einem großzügigen Instrumentenkanal bietet zusammen mit der Instrumentenbrücke und dem Nephroskop-Dauerspülschaft ein sicheres Set zur Nephroskopie. Passendes Instrumentarium wie Fasszangen, Mikro-Schere und Dreigreifer können separat bestellt werden.

7 1 Surgical Laparoscopes OP-Laparoskope Laparoscopy in Gynecology Laparoskope in der Gynäkologie During a gynecological laparoscopy it is possible to make the ovary and the fallopian tube visible. The surgical laparoscope is introduced into the abdomen through a trocar sleeve and the ring applicator for fallopian tube sterilization will be adapted. The ring applicator sets a clip over the tube and thereby disconnects the way to the uterus. The surgical laparoscopes from LUT offer a brilliant picture, as they are built with a highest quality rodlense system. A straight forward wide angle objective delivers a perfect view of the operation ield. Bei einer gynäkologischen Laparoskopie ist es möglich, Eierstock und Eileiter über einen perkutanen Zugang durch die Bauchdecke sichtbar zu machen. Über eine Trokarhülse wird das OP-Laparoskop eingeführt und der Ringapplikator zur Tubensterilisation eingesetzt. Mit Ringapplikatoren können Clips so über den Eileiter gelegt werden, dass dieser abgeklemmt und somit der Weg zur Gebärmutter blockiert wird. LUT OP-Laparoskope bieten ein brillantes Bild, da sie mit einem Stablinsensystem höchster Qualität ausgestattet sind. Ein Geradeaus-Weitwinkelobjektiv macht das OP-Feld optimal sichtbar.

9 2 Laser Resectoscope Laser Resektoskop Laser Resectoscopy Laser Resektoskopie In search of an ideal treatment for patients, a procedure which will set new standards in gentle and effective resection of the prostata was developed thanks to the latest laser technology. Today, the laser resectoscopy applies for an excellent alternative to conventional HF-resection. The laser radiation is transported via a glass iber probe from the Laser unit to the tip of the resectoscope and vaporizes the prostata tissue precisely and controlled. The LUT laser resectoscope working unit, passive acting, guides the glass iber probe safe and accurate. The probe can ideally be adjusted by a push button on the side of the working unit. Our recommended LUT endoscope in 4.0 mm / 30 offers best image conditions. A rotatable continuous low sheath completes the set. Auf der Suche nach der idealen Behandlung für den Patienten wurde mit Hilfe der Laser-Technologie ein Verfahren entwickelt, das neue Maßstäbe in der schonenden und effektiven Resektion der Prostata setzt. Heute gilt die Laser Resektoskopie als hervorragende Alternative zur konventionellen Resektion mit HF-Strom. 14 2 Laser Cystoscope Laser Cystoskop Laser Cystoscopy Laser Cystoskopie The laser technology founds its way also to the cystoscopy. With the LUT continuous-low laser cystoscopeurethroscope sheath an instrument for use in the lower urinary tract was developed. The inner sheath has a generous, integrated working channel and therefore guides instruments as well as the glass iber probe for laser treatment safely to the tip of the sheath. The necessary cooling effect for the probe as well as a clear view during operation is provided by a continuous low system which offers steady irrigation conditions. The appropriate LUT endoscope in 4 mm / 30 offers best image condition without distortions. A visual obturator for the introduction of the cystoscope under sight completes the set. Auch in der Cystoskopie kommt die Laser Technologie zum Einsatz. Hier wurde mit dem LUT Dauerspül Laser Cystoskop-Urethroskop-Schaft ein Instrument speziell für Anwendungen in der Harnröhre und der Blase entwickelt. Der Innenschaft mit einem großzügigen integrierten Arbeitskanal führt sowohl Instrumente als auch die Glasfaser-Sonde zur Laser-Behandlung sicher an die Spitze des Schafts. 18 2 Optical Stone Punch Optische Steinzertrümmerungsstanze Punch Lithotripsy Blasensteinzertrümmerung Today, stones in the urinary bladder can mostly be treated successfully by endoscopy. With the optical stone punch of LUT very hard stones are broken mechanically under sight. Operating the hand piece, the inner sheath is drawn backwards and the stone is ixed. Drawing further the stone is broken. If a sheath with central stop cock is used the punched stone fragments can be rinsed immediately. The working element exerts high force on the stone and is therefore especially suitable for hard stones. The adequate LUT endoscopes in 4 mm / 0 and 30 provide optimal sight and excellent pictures for this purpose. Steine in der Harnblase können heute größtenteils auf endoskopischem Weg effektiv behandelt werden. Mit der optischen Steinzertrümmerungsstanze von LUT werden sehr harte Steine unter Sicht mechanisch zerkleinert. Beim Betätigen des Handgriffs wird der Innenschaft nach hinten gezogen und der Stein zunächst festgeklemmt, bei weiterem Zug dann zerkleinert. Wird hierbei der Schaft mit Zentralhahn verwendet, können die ausgestanzten Steinfragmente sofort ausgespült werden. Das Arbeitselement bringt eine große Kraft auf den Stein und ist deshalb besonders gut für sehr harte Steine geeignet. The uterus can be moved in different directions in order to make all areas visible. Different manipulator tips allow a precise adaption to anatomy. 52 4 Sterilization Sterilisation Sterilization / Preparation Since the outbreak of the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, many scientists have been eager to ind out how to avoid the risk of virus transmission during surgical operations. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends for endoscopes a mandatory holding time of minutes at 134 C / 273 F. According to this recommendation, the steam sterilization = autoclavation, is the method of choice. All LUT endoscopes in this catalogue feature the Autoclave Logo as they have certiied their outstanding performance and standing by passing several tests. Further recommended sterilization methods: STERRAD from Johnson & Johnson = low temperature plasma sterilisation. STERIS SYSTEM1 from Steris Corporation = cold liquid sterilization. Both methods avoid high temperatures on optical systems and are therefore very gentle. Nevertheless the use of peracedic acid as well as hydrogen peroxide may cause a more intensive wear of the surface.
