Question 9 (11 marks) Hallo Freunde! Morgen reisen wir ab! Morgen treffe ich mich mit Jessica am Flughafen, und ein neues Abenteuer beginnt! Wie ihr wisst, haben wir den letzten Urlaub in Los Angeles verbracht, was für Jessica toll war aber meine Erwartungen nicht erfüllt hat. Merkwürdigerweise kam mir alles vor wie in einem Film. Da ich mit so vielen amerikanischen Fernsehserien aufgewachsen bin, hatte ich den seltsamen Eindruck, dass ich alles schon mal gesehen hatte! Aus diesem Grund wollte ich dieses Mal etwas ganz anderes machen. Eine anstrengende Reise, wo wir die Landschaft intensiver erleben und Lebenserfahrungen sammeln könnten, was ohne den Luxus eines Fünfsternehotels leichter wäre. Zum Glück will Jessica noch mal mitfahren und behauptet, dass sie mit meiner Wahl einverstanden ist, auch wenn sie ohne den üblichen Komfort reisen muss. Da sie neulich gekündigt hat (sie fand ihre Stelle nicht mehr interessant!), habe ich mich für etwas Preiswertes entschieden. Also fliegen wir morgen nach Afrika ab, und ich muss sagen, ich bin begeistert wie noch nie zuvor! Mit Wildbeobachtungsfahrten werden wir den Tieren ganz nahe kommen und sie nachts von unseren Zelten hören. Unsere Gruppenreise nimmt eine ungewöhnliche Route und führt in abgelegene Naturlandschaften. So kann ich mehr als das Bilderbuchafrika kennen lernen und hoffentlich in Jessica eine Leidenschaft für die Natur erwecken. Wie ihr wisst, ist sie eine Großstädterin mit wenig Welterfahrung. Ich habe Jessica geraten, nur leichtes Gepäck mitzunehmen, aber das geht gegen ihre Gewohnheiten. Wenn wir unterwegs sind, können wir nicht regelmäßig waschen, daher wollte sie eine Menge Klamotten zum Wechseln mitbringen. Das kommt aber nicht in Frage besonders weil Jessica das Gepäck selbst tragen muss. Hat sie mir aber zugehört? Das finde ich erst morgen heraus! Daniel

10 Question 10 (14 marks) Fünf Minuten mit Melanie Kellermann Sie ist eine der erfolgreichsten Radrennfahrerinnen Deutschlands und auf dem Sprung, eine der besten der Welt zu sein. In einem kurzen Interview spricht sie über ihre Stärken und Träume. Melanie, wie erklären Sie sich Ihren Erfolg? Heute liegt ein schwieriges Jahr hinter mir! Obwohl ich viele Rennen gewonnen habe, musste ich als Profi-Radfahrerin auch mit Enttäuschungen und Verletzungen zurecht kommen. Vor sechs Monaten hatte ich einen Unfall, als ich auf eisglatter Straße aus einer Kurve rutschte und die Kontrolle über das Rad verlor. Egal ob ich die Gefahr unterschätzt oder die Konzentration verloren hatte: Ich war selber Schuld. Mein Fuß war gebrochen, und ich durfte zwei lange Monate keinen Sport machen. Zuerst habe ich mich sehr über mich selbst geärgert, aber das hat nicht lange gedauert. Jeder hat mal seine Probleme, und man muss sich einfach durchkämpfen wenn möglich mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht. Letztendlich sind wir alle Menschen und manchmal geht etwas schief. Ich weiß nicht genau wieso, aber seit meiner Kindheit bin ich grundsätzlich ein glücklicher Mensch und will auf jeden Fall so bleiben. Ich war ganz sicher, dass kein dauernder Schaden am Fuß zurückbleiben würde, und mit der Zeit hat der Fuß sich tatsächlich erholt. Meine persönliche Einstellung zum Leben habe ich von meinem Vater. Er hat hart gearbeitet, um meinen Geschwistern und mir ein besseres Leben zu ermöglichen und blieb immer lebenslustig und gut gelaunt, auch in schwierigen Zeiten. Ich bewundere ihn sehr und habe zu ihm auch heute eine enge Beziehung. Bis heute bleibt er mein Vorbild, und ich habe ihm viel zu verdanken. Obwohl es mich freut, Rennen zu gewinnen, ist das Radfahren für mich nicht das Wichtigste auf der Welt. Mein Ziel ist nicht bekannt zu werden, sondern das Leben zu genießen und dem Sport etwas zurückzugeben. Zu diesem Zweck helfe ich Sehbehinderten beim Radfahren damit sie aus der Isolation heraus kommen und einen neuen Freundeskreis finden können. Im Moment fahre ich an Wochenenden als Pilotin eines Tandems * in einem integrierten Team. Nächsten Monat fangen die Wettkämpfe an und wir haben gute Aussichten, die Meisterschaft zu gewinnen. * ein Tandem: a bicycle built for two people 10

Und noch etwas: Leider hat Oma uns auch erzählt, dass unsere Nachbarn sich bei ihr beschwert haben, dass sie am Samstag Abend erst nach Mitternacht einschlafen konnten, weil es bei dir so laut war. Das macht uns Sorgen, obwohl Oma ja manchmal übertreibt. Alex, wir haben das Thema Partys mit dir besprochen, und dachten, dass du für nichts anderes Zeit hättest, als für die Schule zu lernen.
