KAZANTZIDIS ΑG The company MEDIPAC Th.Kazantzidis S.A was established on December 987, headquarters in the Industrial Area of Stavrohori, Prefecture of Kilkis. The exclusive aim of the company was the construction of fabrication unit for surgical sutures. MEDIPAC was, and still remains, the unique productive unit in Greece dealing with this article. Das Unternehmen MEDIPAC Th. Kazantidis AG wurde im Dezember des Jahres 987 gegründet. Sitz des Unternehmens war die Industriegegend Stavrohori in der Präfektur Kilkis. Zweck dieses Unternehmens war ausschließlich die Errichtung einer Einheit, die chirurgisches Katgut (Nahtmaterial) herstellt. Bis zum heutigen Tage ist MEDIPAC das einzige Unternehmen in Griechenland, welches dieses Material produziert. Since 989, the company has concluded exclusive contracts for the disposal of its products in many important public Hospitals in Greece. The perpetual pursuit for high quality of the produced products constituted the principal aim of the business since the beginning. Thus, in 996 the productive procedure was certified according to the requirements of the Quality Inspection System ISO 9 and complied fully with the Common Harmonised Technical Standards by European Pharmacopeia (CE mark directive 93/4/EC). Today, MEDIPAC produces a wide and integrated line of surgical sutures and possesses a high percentage of local market, by meeting, through current contracts, a great part of needs of approximately 9 Greek public hospitals. The company covers also a satisfying part of the private sector market for health rendering of services of the country and recently it develops an important export activity, mainly in European Union countries. DAS Bereits seit dem Jahre 989 hat das Unternehmen mit vielen großen öffentlichen Krankenhäusern Griechenlands Verträge zur Lieferung der Produkte geschlossen. Hauptziel des Unternehmens war von vornherein die Herstellung von Produkten mit hoher Qualität. Im Jahre 996 wurde das Produktionsverfahren nach ISO 9 zertifi ziert. Das Produktionsverfahren entspricht den technischen Normen des europäischen Arzneibuches für Medizinprodukte (CE mark Richtlinie 93/4/EOK). Heutzutage produziert das Unternehmen MEDIPAC eine umfangreiche und komplette Reihe von chirurgischem Katgut. MEDIPAC ist ein führendes Unternehmen auf dem Innlandsmarkt. Es ist in der Lage, einen großen Teil der Anforderungen von etwa 9 griechischen Krankenhäusern nachzukommen. Darüber hinaus deckt das Unternehmen auch einen angemessenen Teil der Privatkrankenhäuser Griechenlands. In den letzten Jahren verzeichnet das Unternehmen MEDIPAC eine nennenswerte Exporttätigkeit, insbesondere in Staaten der Europäischen Union.

9 PGA Polyglycolic Acid Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological procedures. Polyglycolic Acid Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture elicits a minimal acute infl ammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fi brous connective tissue. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of Polyglycolic Acid Synthetic Absorbable Sutures occurs hydrolysis, where the polymer degrades to glycolic acid which is subsequently absorbed and metabolized by the body. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass. Polyglycolic Acid Synthetic Absorbable Suture PGA retains approximately 75% of the average E.P. tensile strength requirement at the end of the nd post implantation week, and more than 35% at the end of the 3rd week. The absorption of the suture is essentially complete between 5 and 9 days. Nach Implantation der synthetischen absorbierbaren chirurgischen Naht PGA beobachtet man eine mittel schwere lokale Entzündung des Gewebes, charakteristische Reaktion auf einen Fremdkörper, gefolgt von phasenweiser Umwandlung in FaserBindegewebe. Es folgt ein teilweiser Verlust der Ausdauer und des Nahtvolumens aufgrund ihrer Absorption durch die mechanische Hydrolyse während der das Polymer in Glykolsäure gespalten wird, das absorbiert wird und in den Körper zu Körper Stoffwechsel übergeht. Während der Absorption der Naht PGA bemerkt zunächst einen Ausdauerverlust, ohne bedeutenden Massenschwund. Die Naht PGA verfügt über eine Dehnfestigkeit von über 75% der Anforderungen der Europäischen Pharmazie, am Ende der zweiten Woche nach seiner Implantation und über 35% etwa zum Ende der dritten Woche. Die Absorption der Naht ist innerhalb von 5 9 Tagen abgeschlossen. 7

It is not indicated for use in ligation, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, or neurological procedures. NEOSORB RAPID Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of NEOSORB RAPID Synthetic Absorbable Sutures occurs hydrolysis, where the polymer degrades to glycolic and lactic acids which are subsequently absorbed and metabolized in the body. NEOSORB RAPID retains approximately 5% of the original tensile strength at 5 days post implantation. All of the original tensile strength is lost by approximately to 4 days. Absorption is essentially complete by 4 days. Das synthetische, resorbierbare, chirurgische Nahtmaterial NEOSORBPGLA RAPID ist für das Befestigen oder Verschließen von Weichteilen vorgesehen, einschließlich einer Verwendung bei der Mundschleimhaut, der plastischen Chirurgie und im Allgemeinen wo kurzfristige Unterstützung notwendig ist. Implantation of the suture elicits a minimal infl ammatory reaction followed by gradual encapsulation by fi brous connective tissue. PROPYLEN is not absorbed nor degraded and it its tensile strength is not infl uenced from the action of proteolytic enzymes. As it is relatively biologically inert its use is recommended in cases where minimal tissue reaction is desired. It is especially recommended for use in infected wounds or in wounds with high risk of later infection. PROPYLEN suture is not adherent to the tissues and it can be removed easily and painlessly. Therefore it can be used as a pull out suture. The suture is usually removed in a period of 3 days. The use of the suture in some patients can cause initial skin irritation followed by a minimal infl ammatory reaction at the wound site. As every foreign body it can enhance an existing infection.
