7 [1] Body Preparation Correct preparation of raw materials is essential to achieving excellent, consistent results - and requires the reliability, experience and know-how that only a world leader can offer. Automatic raw material batching offers flexible solutions that can be adapted to suit individual body characteristics and output volumes. Especially for the demanding and difficult requirements of high quality ceramics and hard metal industries, a special model range of wet and dry grinding ball mills has been developed in co-operation with potential users. The most important characteristics are: Heavy-duty direct driven shaft for precise and nonslip grinding and mixing procedures controlled by frequency converters, Explosion-proof equipment, Pressure evacuation with TÜV approval certificate VA- water cooling casing, dust protection equipment made of various materials for dry grinding, Construction also in stainless steel at the customer s request, lining and grinding media according to customer s request, PLC control for various grinding and mixing procedures, Computer-aided process monitoring system and control with display and reporting for quality assurance. The complete range for technical ceramics comprises all types of mills, ranging from the smallest laboratory jar mill up to high-performance mills. The operating conditions as well as the application resp. the product range are of a remarkable wide variety. Therefore starting from a basic principle the regarding achines are designed and equipped as per the customers demand. The application area ranges from the pre-pugging of insulators over the extruding of kiln rollers and SiC beams to the shaping of catalysers DENOX, DPF, CDPF and SCI. The machines sizes range from pug diameter of several millimeters (tube of thermo-couple) up to 1,5 meter (insulator). 12 Tape Caster Process & Technology The slip is cast onto a precisely machined stone plate, on which the carrier tape is moved smoothly and without perturbations. By the electric adjustable doctor blade the slurry is spread homogeneously and the thickness is exactly controlled by the laser measuring device. Subsequently the wet ceramic tape is passing a 3-partite drying channel with individual adjustment of air flow and temperature. After the exit of the drying channel the ceramic tape is forwarded to the following working steps, whilst the carrier tape is automatically re-winded. All relevant process parameters are adjusted and regulated by an up-to-date central control unit. The concept of the tape caster is made as per the individual resp. specific requirements of the user. Mediante una lama regolabile elettricamente l impasto viene distribuito in modo omogeneo e lo spessore è misurato con precisione con uno strumento a laser. Successivamente il nastro ceramico grezzo viene fatto passare in un canale di essiccazione a tre zone con regolazione indipendente del flusso dell aria e della temperatura. All uscita dal canale di essiccazione il nastro ceramico è inviato ai passi successivi di lavorazione mentre il nastro di supporto viene automaticamente riavvolto. Tutti i principali parametri di processo sono tenuti sotto controllo e regolati da una centrale di controllo all avanguardia. Mittels motorisch verstellbarer Gießrakel ( Doctor Blade ) wird die Gießmasse exakt aufgetragen und anschließend die Schichtdicke über Lasermesstechnologie festgehalten. Die nasse keramische Folie durchläuft hernach einen dreigeteilten Trockentunnel mit separat einstellbaren Luftmengen und -temperaturen. Nach dem Austritt aus dem Trockenkanal wird die keramische Folie weiter konfektioniert, während die Trägerfolie wieder aufgerollt wird. Sämtliche prozessrelevanten Parameter werden über die zentrale Steuereinheit vorgegeben und überwacht. Die Ausführung der Foliengießanlage erfolgt nach den individuellen Kundenerfordernissen. 13 [2] Shaping Shaping technology with hydraulic presses from LAEIS With its technical and technological developments in hydraulic pressing LAEIS opens a wide field of new applications. Volumetric and gravimetric feeding systems or also combined systems guarantee highest precision and repeat accuracy for mould filling and individual weight of the pressed products. Specifically adapted mould filling systems (including two-component systems) allow for a controlled material distribution in the mould in order to ensure a uniform densification, even where complex geometries or largesized elements are to be produced. The forming process itself also takes place depending on the application and supported by an effective vacuum pressing technology and separately controlled axis of an active mould. These new qualities in shaping technology with hydraulic presses allow for their use also in the manufacture of products such as large size plates from ceramic oxide for PDV plants (sputtering targets), complex structure products or curved shapes. Other examples are components for fuel cells, ceramic high-performance brake discs and further products from the wide field of high-performance ceramics. Queste nuove caratteristiche della tecnologia di formatura con presse idrauliche consentono di applicarla anche nella realizzazione di prodotti quali lastre di grande formato in ossiceramica per impianti PVD ( sputtering targets ), prodotti con strutture particolarmente complesse, ad esempio a due strati, o elementi curvilinei o tubolari con spessore omogeneo. Altri esempi sono celle a combustibile, dischi per freni in ceramica ad elevate prestazioni e altri prodotti del vasto settore della ceramica ad alte prestazioni.
