2 Projektinformation Titel: Projektnummer: Lernsituationen für die Ausbildung mit 'embedded systems' Study Labs - NetLab LEO05-TOI-01 Jahr: 2011 Projekttyp: Status: Marketing Text: Zusammenfassung: Innovationstransfer bewilligt EE-Estland Lernsituationen für die Ausbildung mit 'embedded systems' Bei dem geplanten Projektergebnis handelt es sich um eine Plattform für internetgesteuerte Versuche aus den Bereichen Robotik, Mechatronik, eingebettete Systeme und Mikrocontrollersysteme.Die innovative Plattform ermöglicht es auf reale Versuchsstände über das Internet zuzugreifen und diese dadurch sehr einfach in der Ausbildung, unterstützt durch kollaboratives Lernen einzusetzen. Studierende und internationale Studierendenteams können die definierten Lernsituationen mit diesen 'remote labs' durchführen und so in einem international gestützten Umfeld Erfahrung sammeln. Das ganze System baut auf verschiedene Internettechnologien auf und setzt diese gezielt ein. The aim of the project is contribution to raising the level of vocational education students and continuous education of professional workers in broad field of engineering domains, but specially in ICT and embedded systems by transferring the innovative study concept, namely Learning Situations from Germany to Nordic Europe region (mainly Estonia, but also to Finland and later Sweden), by adopting the product to Estonian needs and bringing them to Internet environment. The aim is planned to archive by carrying out following activities: - Performing deep analysis of current industrial situation, study methods and student behavior in target sector - Adopting the Learning Situation according to acquired knowledge - Establishing the Remote Lab Centers (the runtime environment for Learning Situations) - Bringing the Learning Situations to e-learning environment - Full piloting of the solution in Estonia and Finland, light piloting in Germany and Sweden. All listed activities are on the frame of professional project management and financial surveillance. The dissemination is continuous process starting on the very beginning of the project and continuing after the official end, by following the developed Future Strategy document. Beschreibung: Embedded systems are in everyday life and there is a frantic need of well-educated developers, operators and programmers. This field itself is in a big change because the borders of pure ICT and embedded system are fusing and according to this process the skilled workforce is even more needed, with focus on both sub-domains. It is important that ICT education will become more and more to real systems education, instead of just computer software development (in most vocational schools curricula these two domains are still separated). This application addresses to the lack of skilled worker in ICT, by building bridge for simple and logical study process for using ICT for controlling and understanding real word processes and situations. Reason of the project With the project NetLab we are focusing on the fact that currently there is a lack of skilled worker in ICT and embedded system sector due the rapid growth of this domain. The trend shows constant growth of the gap between industry need and available skilled workforce, specially due the rise of Asian manufacturers and engineers and competition with Europe. Several studies in Estonia (and whole Europe) point out that the engineering fields are not the first choice of young people, however the engineering skills and ICT field itself are one of the key knowledge of European including Estonian economy growth in a long perspective. Practical aids for ICT and embedded system study for vocational and continuous education supported by the universal e-platform and direct links to industrial needs. The long term outcomes are the rise of competence of new and practicing engineers and the contemporary learning tools. To come along with significant better vocational education in the end there will be a better position of European companies (including SME-s) in global competition. 3

10 Produkt 'Collection of Learning Situations' Lernsituationen für die Ausbildung mit 'embedded systems' Study Labs - NetLab Titel: Collection of Learning Situations Produkttyp: Homepage Marketing Text: Learning Situations as a innovation has excellent integration of different domains like electronics, ICT, programming, etc. which is the nature and expected knowledge of embedded systems. The approach of Learning Situations is very novel and integrates very different knowledge on hands-on practice. The connection with real life situations is very often pointed out as a lack of ICT education. By studying the ICT and embedded systems in conjunction with real life situations rise the study to new level and demonstrates that ICT is a tool for solving the technological and other issues not as a thing in itself. Beschreibung: The example Learning Situation Project planning and implementation of a control for an injection system with a microcontroller. It is divided into two logical parts ( Project: Description of the learning situation and the subject content and Teaching Justification: Design of the educational series, taking into account their required subject area teaching ). The first part, describes a real-world, but fictive project, by the statement of the problem and technical background information as well as a set of sub-task formulations. This learning situation utilizes the developed micro controller Kit from project Interstudy and basics in Logic and Electrical Engineering including information about methodical sequences. In different chapters the manufacturing system for light switches (the general task assigned to the students) is planned and each sub-part important to full-fill this task described in detail. It provides the following knowledge - Positive / Negative Logic - Skills to develop electrical circuits - Knowledge about sensors (temperature, opener, closer, threshold) - Programming of micro controller a) How to visualize different plant states on micro controller display b) Simulation of control The second part is mainly about didactically aspects of the described learning situation, with the following content: - The concept of action-oriented teaching - Representation of the design principles of the learning situation, "an injection control system" a)how to structure learning groups b)learning behavior of the learning groups c)requirements of the directives and decisions of the conference education program d)importance of teaching the subject e)methodological choice - Concrete implementation of the planning of instruction, taking into account the particularities of the learning group - Observations from the current instruction sequence Second part is finalized by comments on the didactic year plan, with concrete time specifications about using the Learning Situation in classes. Remote Lab enables to access to school or university experimental equipment over the Internet. Equipment can be starting from small mobile robots up to complex classical mechanics test experimental machinery. Remote Lab Center offers certain functionality for certain labs (e.g. mobile robot, manipulator, etc.) and is connected with other similar labs forming so a network of Remote Lab centers. The purpose of networking is a resource sharing and international collaborative study for local students.
