Health and safety at work is now one of the most important and most advanced areas of EU social policy. As reported in the mid-term review of the current strategy ( , recently released by the Commission (SEC(2011) 547), occupational hazards are still relatively high for certain categories of workers (young, older, migrant workers, workers with insecure jobs), for certain types of companies (SME enterprises are particularly exposed, accounting for 82% of all occupational injuries and 90% of all fatal accidents), and for certain sectors, as healthcare and welfare services. In this context, the information and training of workers are universally recognized as effective measures to improve workplace health and safety. Within the project "H & S - Training Programme for Health and Safety in the cleaning industry", funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme in 2010, COCETA, Oltremodo, Inforcoop, APSHTDC and ANJAF collaborated to the implementation and the transfer of tools and methodologies easy to use and useful to ensure safety at work in the field of civil and industrial cleaning. The general objective of the project "Web Based Training Tools for Health & Safety" is to transfer the model tested in the social sector, providing a large number of training agencies and companies - from those affiliated to the networks of the project partners with methodologies and training toolkits for workplace safety on a "friendly" support, multilingual and of easy consultation for the working men and women in the social sector, adapting and implementing a training audiovisual product for security, already successful in the cleaning industry. The product will offer the opportunity to focus more on certain types of workers (women, youth, migrants), on the most critical phases of work for workers (new hires, job changes, innovations in the production process, etc..) and on specific characteristics of the social sector. The new product will be developed in video formats and will be available online. Define, establish and implement the Bodies of the project management (Steering Committee and Working Group)). (ACHIEVED) 2. Define the responsibilities and tasks of management structures and coordination of the project. (ACHIEVED) 3. Define a steering system of the project that will be shared by all the partners in order to share the model of economic management, the control of financial flows and the modes of communication between partners. (ACHIEVED) 4. Develop and implement the details of the programming of each WP (IN PROCESS DURING ALL THE PROJECT) WP2: Analysis of the Experience and Tools for Training in Health and Safety at work in the Social Sector. 1. Rehabilitation of the audio-visual material existing DVD format to support video (TO BE DONE) 5. Testing and validation of the product to two companies in Italy (TO BE DONE) 6. Schedule, method, and areas where to perform the transfer and the dissemination of the product (IN PROCESS) WP 4: Experimentation of the model 1.
