5 A Survey on Channel Selection Strategies in Cognitive Radio Network for Efficient Data Dissemination Description: Responsible Professor: Supervisor: Prof. Andreas Mitschele-Thiel M.Sc. Ausama Yousef Message delivery is a challenging task in multi-hop Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) due to the availability of different channels for the usage by a CR node with high probability of switching among those channels during a time. Therefore, a good selection of channels may decrease the collision with PU s and increase the probability to deliver data to all nodes. Page 5

6 Klassifikation der aktuellen zuverlässigen Broadcast Techniken in MANETs Responsible Professor: Supervisor: Prof. Andreas Mitschele-Thiel M.Sc. Ausama Yousef Description: Broadcasting spielt eine zentrale Rolle in Ad-Hoc-Netzwerken, da es von vielen Protokollen verwendet wird. Für effizienten und zuverlässigen Broadcasting in MANETs sind verschiedene Algorithmen, die speziellen Methoden folgen, entwickelt. In dieser Arbeit sollen die Studenten einen Überblick über aktuelle zuverlässigen Broadcast-Techniken für Ad-Hoc-Netze liefern. Diese sollen klassifiziert und hinsichtlich Vor- und Nachteilen verglichen werden. Page 6

7 Implementation of a Mobility Model For a Cluster of Mobile Users Responsible Professor: Supervisor: Prof. Andreas Mitschele-Thiel M.Sc. Oleksandr Andryeyev Description: According to the literature, users of mobile stations (MSs) usually are moving in a predictable pattern. Moreover, together they are organizing clusters. Usually it is assumed that each user is doing random walk while we are interested also in the movement of the cluster itself. Thus, the mobility model with the following features should be implemented: each user is moving inside the cluster the cluster is moving towards some target waypoint support for different mobility patterns - uniform random walk, Gaussian random walk etc. Tasks Literature study on available models Mobility model implementation Verification of the developed model Requirements Analytical mind, ability to work independently Python programming skills Focus 1 students theory / programming / hardware / measurements Page 7

8 Implementation of a Directional Antenna Model For Aerial Base Station Responsible Professor: Supervisor: Prof. Andreas Mitschele-Thiel M.Sc. Oleksandr Andryeyev Description: Aerial Base Stations (ABSs) are attracting more and more attention nowadays. In order to make realistic simulations on a signal propagation of ABSs, a model for directional antenna onboard needs to be designed and implemented. The input for the model is a gain and orientation of the antenna (additionally to power, pathloss etc.), output is received signal strength at some location (x, y, z).
