Check the accuracy of the type/model and the electrical voltage. Place the appliance and any accessories on a sufficiently solid structure [2 & 3], taking into account the minimum free space required [1]. Use the M10 suspension points for this. Note in particular the space needed for cleaning the burner and flue gas fan. Note: the heat exchanger s maximum temperature is approximately 500 C. The appliance may be installed in an area where the ambient temperature lies between -10 C and 40 C. 2.2 Positioning the flue gas exhaust system and air supply C32 Flue gas exhaust system The maximum length L [3] of the intake and flue pipe is six metres incl. 2x2 90 bends (3xD). Each additional right-angled bend shortens the length by 2 metres. If possible, use bends of 45. The maximum length for type 95 is 1 metre, incl. 1x2 90 bends. Different flue plans are possible on request. C12 Flue gas exhaust system A bend may, if required, be located directly on the appliance. The maximum length L [3] of the intake and flue pipe is six metres incl. 2x2 90 bends. Each additional right-angled bend shortens the length by 2 metres. If possible, use bends of 45. The maximum length for type 95 is 1 metre, incl. 1x2 90 bends. Different flue plans are possible on request. The flue gas exhaust system should be installed with a minimum of a 3 pitch from the appliance. [3] Put the flue gas system into position and attach it correctly according to the installation instructions for the flue gas discharge system. Ensure that connections to the appliance are properly tightened. Use the restrictor provided if the flue gas discharge system is less than 3 metres in length (L<3m),. See table [3] for the correct diameter and position. The appliance only has CE approval if the roof or wall pass-through supplied by the manufacturer is used. This may be supplied by the manufacturer under the following part numbers: Device type Roof pass-through C32 Wall pass-through C12 20 to to

The extension pipes and bends of the gas flue exhaust system must meet the following requirements: EN Device type Nominal diameter 20 to 45 80mm 50 to mm Temperature class: T250 or higher Pressure class: P1 The flue equipment must have been positively assessed for application with gas-fired appliances. This positive assessment should have been issued by an inspection body with ISO accreditation. We advise you to obtain supply and flue equipment from the manufacturer. This complies with these requirements. 2.3 Gas connection The installation of the gas pipeline and gas tap must comply with the relevant local and/or national regulations. The gas tap must be positioned within reach of the appliance [3]. If the connection line is subject to pressures above 60mbar, this gas tap must be closed. In the event of any doubt about engrained dirt, apply a gas filter. Always blow through the gas pipe in compliance with the regulations prior to operating the appliance. If the appliance needs to be converted to a different type of gas than the one indicated on the type plate, the supplier of the appliance must be contacted. He can advise you which parts must be replaced in order for the appliance to operate correctly with the type of gas required. 2.4 Electrical connection Installation must comply with the relevant local and/or national regulations. Ensure that there is a correct connection set with mains fuse. The electrical diagram appears on the appliance. A basic diagram for type G(N)SD can be found in chapter 7 Electrical Diagram. PLEASE NOTE: the unit is phase-sensitive and will only operate when it has been appropriately earthed. The appliance must be fitted with an isolator switch which interrupts phase and zero (not the earth). The isolator switch must be accessible at all times. Never, under any circumstances, allow the supply to the appliance to be interrupted by other switches. This could result in the appliance overheating. 2.5 Room thermostat and reset button The room thermostat must be located at a height of approx. 1.5m and not directly within the flow of warm air. Connect the room thermostat using a shielded cable in accordance with the wiring diagram supplied for the appliance. Refer also to the technical information handbook supplied with the room thermostat. Incorrect connection will render the manufacturer s warranty void. PLEASE NOTE: The maximum lengths and diameters are specified in the table [17]. Earth the cable shielding to the appliance. For connecting multiple appliances, see [15] and [16]. 2.6 Choice of bus cable Selection of the correct type of bus cable is based on the specific model for the country concerned. When selecting the cable, the values noted in the technical details must be complied with. Bus cables of the appropriate specifications, which are offered in countries with an EIB market, 7

are: YCYM Fixed system EIB specification Dry, damp, wet rooms In the open air (no direct exposure to sunlight) Face-fit, flush-fit, in conduits J-Y(st)Y Fixed system EIB specification Only in interior spaces Face-fit, in conduits JH(st)H Halogen-free conduits, remote system A-2Y(L)2Y or A-2YF(L)2Y Telephone ground cable, system in the outside area 3.0 Start-up/shutdown 3.1 General Before being packed, each appliance is fully tested for safety and correct operation. This includes the setting of the gas pressure, burner pressure and CO. However, always check the burner pressure variation and the pre-pressure. Never turn set screws without good cause. Do not forget to instruct the user on the proper use and operation of the appliance and accessoires. 3.2 Appliance address details If multiple (maximum of 8) appliances are connected to a single thermostat, the appliances must be given an address. When setting an appliance s address, both dip switches must be set to the correct position. For the correct setting, refer to [16] and [18]. When connecting the room thermostat to multiple appliances (maximum of 8), you must ensure that the room thermostat is connected to appliance 1. You do so by correctly setting the dip switches and switch S4 on the air heater s burner controller [18]. 3.3 Control activities Switch off electricity mains switch. Set the room thermostat to the minimum temperature. Open the gas stop cock, then carefully purge the gas pipes and check for leaks. Under no circumstances use an open flame! Close gas stop cock. Switch on the electrical mains switch and set the room thermostat to the maximum temperature. After a pre-purge period, the automatic ignition control will produce an electric arc on the pilot burner and the gas control unit safety valve will open. Because the gas stop cock is closed, no flame will appear. The automatic ignition control will fail after 4 attempts at ignition, each lasting about 5 seconds. After waiting for approximately 30 seconds, the automatic control can be released and the same cycle can be repeated. Open the gas stop cock, the appliance will now start up. Check the flame profile on the main burners (clear flame centre, burning evenly). On a G(N)CD device, check the direction in which the fan is rotating and the air flow intake. On units with an external fan, check that the maximum heating of 40K is not exceeded. 3.4 Check that the room thermostat is functioning correctly At a setting below the ambient temperature, the burners should switch off. At a setting higher than the ambient temperature, the burner should ignite. 3.5 Check the nominal pressure 8

Check the variation in burner pressure by using a pressure gauge connected to the gas pressure measuring nipples [4]. The variation in pressure is found in the type plate and in table [3] under D. When connecting to the burner pressure measuring nipples, the main burners must temporarily be turned town (using the room thermostat). Make sure that the appliance cannot be switched off during this check by setting the thermostat to the highest setting. The burner pressure can be corrected by first removing the cover screw and adjusting the screw on the pressure regulator (anti-clockwise gives a lower pressure; clockwise a higher pressure). Replace the cover screw! EN 3.6 Check the pre-pressure The gas pre-pressure on the gas unit must be measured on an appliance that is in operation. The pre-pressure is indicated on the appliance s type plate. To check, the volume of gas consumed [3] can be measured via the gas meter (temporarily switch off all other appliances that consume gas). 3.7 Finally, check that the operation of the appliance cannot be influenced by other appliances close to it, localised air flows or corrosive or explosive vapours. 3.8 Shutting down the heater For short periods of time: Set the room thermostat to the minimum temperature. Do not switch off the electricity mains switch as this may damage the maximum temperature and safety thermostat. For longer periods of time: Set the room thermostat to the minimum temperature. After ± 5 min., the electrical power may be switched off. 4.0 Maintenance 4.1 General The appliance must be subjected to maintenance at least once a year, more often if necessary. If applicable, ask a qualified installer for maintenance advice. When carrying out maintenance, the appliance must have been shut down for an extended period. Make sure that you comply with all safety rules. 4.2 Cleaning Burner tray. Remove the inspection cover with sight-glass [3], slide out the burner tray and blow off the burners from above using compressed air. Also check the condition and setting of the electrode in accordance with the diagram [8]. Heat exchanger. Inspect the heat exchanger externally and internally (with a mirror) for signs of damage. Clean the exterior of the heat exchanger if necessary (taking care not to bend or damage the sensor on the safety thermostat!). The interior of the heat exchanger should - if necessary - be cleaned. Clean the air discharge louvres. 9

Maximum and/or safety thermostat: Check the condition of the sensor (no metal on metal contact with heat exchanger and that they are central between the elements). Flue gas fan. Remove the inspection hatch. Check the bypass and fan restriction for soot and dust. Remove any soot and dust with a brush. For restriction diameters, see [3]. V-belt pulleys for type G(N)CD. Check the fan pulley(s) and belt tension, clean the pulley(s) if required. Check the belt tension after 20 to 40 hours of operation. Regularly check the tension in the first year of operation [13]. After cleaning, put the appliance back into operation as described in section Description of parts General Faulty parts may only be replaced by identical parts. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer. 5.1 Automatic ignition control and gas combination units [6] Argus burner controller, order code , in all appliances. Gas valves are suitable for the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium and for types 90 and 95. [7] B C D Adjusting screw pressure regulator Cable connections Pressure measuring nipple inlet pressure 5.2 Ionisation and ignition [8] Ionisation electrode order code Ignition electrode order code C Burner box D Burner bar 5.3 Thermostat combination [9] A One safety thermostat (STB), order code A safety thermostat is a thermostat with a fixed setting, which is set higher than the maximum temperature thermostat. If the maximum temperature thermostat fails, and the appliance overheats, this thermostat switches the appliance off. Once the cause of the failure has been rectified, the thermostat can be released, after which the appliance will begin to operate automatically (if heat is required at the time). B One minimum temperature thermostat, order code [14] The sensor ensures that the fan(s) are switched on after a set warm-up time. The sensor also controls post-operation purging to remove all the residual heat from the heat exchanger. C/D One or two maximum temperature thermostats, order code The maximum temperature thermostat switches the burner off when the value set is reached. The fans continue to operate and the burner becomes operational (reciprocating motion) again after cooling to below the value set. One or two thermostats may be installed depending on the type of appliance. See the value-setting table for details [9]. 10
