1 EFFECTS OF GAMING CONTEXT ON PRESCHOOLER S PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR 1 KOKO Game Game is a one-side opened paperboard cylinder (height approx. 7cm, diameter approx. 20cm). In the horizontal middle of the cylinder a platform with two holes is placed. Three sections with different colored ground (blue and red) are under the platform. Platform has two holes, which underneath have a different colored ground. On the middle of the platform is a little deepening, which is the starting position for the marbles. Between deepening and holes little rubber pads are placed. Four ropes are anchored on the cylinder. Ropes are colored correspondingly to the holes (two blue and two red ropes). Same colored ropes are knotted with each other, resulting in two handles. Six marbles are colored correspondingly to the holes (three red, three blue). Additionally, two neutral marbles (white color) exist. Scoreboard is a laminated DIN A3 page on which a table with two rows and two columns is pictured. Top row is empty. In each of the lower rows ten pieces of Velcro closures are fixed. Corresponding Velcro closure parts are on laminated colored circles and crosses. Each ten Circles are colored red and blue. Three Crosses are colored black. We built a second game colored green and yellow with corresponding marbles and scoreboard. Marbles are hidden behind scoreboard. E guides the participants to the game. Participant 1 (P1) sits on the side of the red ropes, participant 2 (P2) on the side of the blue ropes. Introduction: E: Guckt mal ihr beiden. Hier haben wir ein Spiel und das könnt ihr jetzt spielen. Ihr müsst es schaffen die Murmeln auf der Platte, in die Löcher zu bekommen. Um die Platte zu bewegen, müsst ihr die Seile benutzen. Die roten Seile hier sind für dich (P1). Und die blauen Seile sind für dich (P2). Die Seile hält man hier ganz nah an der Platte fest [pointing at the spot where rope is fixed at the cylinder]. Ich habe hier rote und blaue Murmeln [showing two marbles]. Die roten Murmeln müssen immer in das rote Loch [holding marble over the red hole]. Die blauen Murmeln müssen in das blaue Loch [holding marble over the blue hole]. Man kann das Spiel immer nur zusammen spielen. Ihr könnt also nur beide gemeinsam das Spiel gewinnen oder beide verlieren. Und wenn ihr es schafft die Murmel ins richtige Loch zu bringen, bekommt ihr gemeinsam einen Punkt. Wenn eine rote Murmel ins rote Loch fällt, bekommt ihr gemeinsam einen roten Punkt [fixing a red point on the scoreboard]. Wenn eine blaue Murmel ins blaue Loch fällt, bekommt ihr gemeinsam einen blauen Punkt [fixing a blue point on the scoreboard]. Ihr müsst es gemeinsam schaffen 10 Punkte zu bekommen. Wenn ihr das schafft, habt ihr beide gemeinsam gewonnen. Aber wenn eine Murmel ins falsche Loch fällt, dann bekommt ihr hier ein Kreuz [pointing at the other side of the scoreboard]. Also, wenn eine rote Murmel ins blaue Loch oder eine blaue Murmel ins rote Loch fällt [holding marbles over the corresponding holes], bekommt ihr ein Kreuz. Wenn ihr 3 Kreuze habt, dann habt ihr beide gemeinsam verloren. Wenn eine Murmel in ein Loch fällt, lege ich eine neue Kugel auf die Platte und ihr könnt weiterspielen. If participants together answer the three questions correctly, gaming phase starts. If one answer is wrong, corresponding part of the procedure is repeated. Marbles are hidden behind scoreboard. E1 guides the participants to the games. Participant 1 (P1) gets the red/blue colored and participant 2 (P2) the green/yellow colored game. Introduction: Guckt mal ihr beiden. Hier haben wir für jede von euch ein Spiel und das könnt ihr jetzt spielen. Jede von euch hat so ein Spiel. Dieses Spiel ist für dich P1. Und dieses Spiel ist für dich P2. Ihr müsst es schaffen so viele Murmeln wie möglich in die Löcher auf eurer Platte zu bekommen. Um die Platte zu bewegen, habt ihr diese Seile. Die hält man hier [pointing at the ropes]. Man spielt das Spiel immer alleine spielen. Was die andere Spielerin macht, ist ganz egal. Ihr braucht nur auf euer Spiel zu achten.
