2 These instructions are specific to the AUDIOVOX VXE 6020 NAV car receiver s software only with the Article No The software is not interchangeable with other models. This software improves the Bluetooth /FM-tuner/Rear View Camera functions. IMPORTANT NOTES 1. Read and understand these instructions before proceeding with the software update. 2. Please follow all steps exactly in the following order! If any error occurs during the update the unit will be damaged irreparably. 3. Do not power OFF the head unit during the software update or the head unit may become inoperable. 4. Turn on the electrical system of the car by the ignition key without starting the engine. The engine must not be activated during the update. Do not activate any consumers during the update. 5. Audiovox Audio Produkte GmbH does not accept any liability for an erroneous update and as a consequence a damage of the unit. PREPARING A SD CARD FOR THE VXE 6020 NAV SOFTWARE UPDATE 1. Items needed to update the VXE 6020 NAV software: - SD/USB adapter; this can be purchased at any office supply store - 1GB (or larger, up to 4 GB) SD card Insert the SD into the adapter and plug it into your computer. 2. Format the SD card using the Windows file explorer to FAT32 directly before copying all files of the firmware to the SD card!!! Important note: Deleting all files on the SD card is not the same like formatting!!! You must use the FAT32 format for the SD card!!! Do never use the Micro SD card with the navigation software for the firmware update!!! 3. Download the file VXE6020NAV rar and unzip it. 4. After unzipping the file VXE6020NAV rar, the folder VXE6020NAV rar contents 8 files and the directory CE4E. The content of the folder VXE6020NAV rar (7 files and the directory CE4E including all subdirectories) must be copied directly to the SD card. Use the Windows Explorer to check the content of the SD card. The SD card should look like the below image when loaded correctly. You should see the folder CE4E and 7 files. 3 VXE 6020 NAV Software update 1. Check the position of the contacts, the contacts of the SD card must be on the left side. Insert the SD card with the files for the software-update into the SD slot left side below the rotary encoder (volume control). Never turn off the power during the update, see point 3 and 4 of the Important Notes!!! 2. Turn on the receiver by pressing the rotary encoder. 3. Calibration of the touchscreen After the OS update has been finished the following screen with a cross will appear: Press and hold each point for 2 seconds - hit the center of the cross - in the sequence that you see on the image below. Principle sketch for the sequence of the points of calibration: After pressing point 5 you see this image with a countdown timer: Tap on the screen within 30 seconds to save the calibration to the device, to save the data. 5 5. MPU update The MPU update starts automatically after the calibration of the screen is complete. You should see the progress bar of the MPU update. 6. MCU update After the MPU update the following screen will appear. Remove the SD card with the software to start the MCU update. Wait until the MCU update is completed and the device reboots. 7 Diese Anleitung wurde speziell erstellt nur für die Software des Car Receivers AUDIOVOX VXE 6020 NAV mit der Artikel-Nr Die Software für den VXE 6020 NAV Receiver ist nicht anwendbar auf andere Modelle. Diese Software verbessert die Bluetooth -, UKW-Tuner- und Rear-Kamera-Funktion. Wichtige Hinweise 1. Bitte lesen Sie diese Anleitung sorgfältig durch, bevor Sie mit dem Update beginnen. 2. Bitte befolgen Sie alle Schritte genau in der beschriebenen Reihenfolge! Falls während des Updates ein Fehler auftritt, wird das Gerät irreparabel beschädigt. 3. Schalten Sie den Receiver nicht während des Updates aus, ansonsten wird der Receiver funktionsunfähig werden. 4. Schalten Sie das elektrische System im Fahrzeug an, ohne den Motor zu starten. Der Motor darf währende des Updates nicht gestartet werden. Aktivieren Sie keine Stromverbraucher während des Updates. 5. Audiovox Audio Produkte GmbH übernimmt keine Haftung im Falle eines fehlerhaften Software-Updates und als Folge für die Beschädigung des Gerätes. Vorbereitungen für das Update des Receivers 1. Zum Update der VXE 6020 NAV-Software werden folgende Gegenstände benötigt: - SD/USB-Adapter - SD-Karte 1GB oder größer (bis zu 4 GB) 2. Formatieren Sie die SD-Karte mittels des Windows Datei Explorers auf FAT32. Wichtiger Hinweis: Das Löschen aller Dateien auf der SD-Karte bewirkt nicht dasselbe wie ein Formatieren der SD-Karte. Formatieren Sie die SD-Karte bitte unbedingt und unmittelbar vor dem Kopieren der Firmware-Dateien auf die SD-Karte! Benutzen Sie niemals die Navigations-Mikro-SD-Karte für das Firmware-Update!!! 3. Laden Sie die Datei VXE6020NAV rar herunter und entpacken Sie die Datei. 4. Nach dem Entpacken der Datei VXE6020NAV rar entsteht ein Ordner VXE6020NAV rar, der acht Dateien und das Unterverzeichnis CE4E beinhaltet: Der Inhalt des Ordners VXE6020NAV rar (7 Dateien und das Verzeichnis CE4E mit allen Unterordnern) muss direkt auf die SD-Karte kopiert werden. Bitte benutzen Sie den Windows Explorer, um den Inhalt der SD-Karte zu überprüfen. Der Inhalt der SD-Karte sollte so aussehen wie nachfolgend gezeigt, der Ordner CE4 soll sichtbar sein und 7 Dateien: VXE 6020 NAV (Artikel-Nr ) Software-Update

8 VXE 6020 NAV Software-Update 1. Stecken Sie die SD-Karte mit den Dateien für das Software-Update in den SD-Kartenleser links unter dem Lautstärkeregler. Achten Sie dabei auf die Position der Kontakte der SD-Karte, die Kontakte müssen links liegen. Schalten Sie niemals die Versorgungsspannung während des Updates aus, siehe auch Punkt 3 und 4 im Abschnitt Wichtige Hinweise! 2. Schalten Sie den Receiver ein durch Drücken des Drehreglers. 3. Das OS-Update beginnt nun automatisch nach dem Einschalten wie in dem Bild unten gezeigt. VXE 6020 NAV (Artikel-Nr ) Software-Update

Kalibrierung des Touchscreens Nach dem OS-Update sehen Sie den Bildschirm für die Kalibrierung, es erscheint ein Kreuz in der Mitte: Berühren Sie die Kalibrierungspunkte (Kreuze) zentral in der Reihenfolge wie unten gezeigt, halten Sie dabei jeden Punkt für 2 Sekunden gedrückt. Prinzipbild zur Darstellung der Lage der Kalibrierungspunkte: Nach dem Drücken von Kalibrierungspunkt 5 erscheint dieser Bildschirm mit einem Countdown: Tippen Sie innerhalb von 30 Sekunden auf den Bildschirm, um die Kalibrierung zu speichern VXE 6020 NAV (Artikel-Nr ) Software-Update

10 5. MPU-Update Das MPU-Update startet automatisch nach der Kalibrierung des Bildschirms. Sie sehen nun einen Balken, der den Fortschritt des MPU-Updates zeigt. 6. MCU-Update Nach dem MPU-Update sehen Sie den Bildschirm mit der unten gezeigten Nachricht. Nehmen Sie die SD-Karte mit der Software aus dem SD-Kartenhalter, um das MCU-Update zu starten. Warten Sie, bis das MCU-Update vollständig ist und das Gerät gebootet hat. Das Update ist erst vollständig nach dem Booten des Gerätes.
