Das Modul gibt eine Einführung in die erfolgreiche Betreuung von selbstständig experimentierenden Schülerinnen und Schülern, die im Lehr-Lern-Labor eigenständig Experimente durchführen. Die Studierenden lernen dabei u. a. die verschiedenen Schülergruppen in ihrem fachlichen und experimentellen Leistungsniveau einzuordnen, schüleradäquate sowie altersgerecht anzuleiten und passende Hilfestellungen beim selbstständigen Experimentieren zu erteilen (Betreuungskompetenz in offenen Unterrichtssituationen). Die Studierenden besitzen die Fähigkeit ihr eigenes Handeln systematisch und kritisch zu reflektieren. Durch individuelle Rückmeldung von Seiten eines Dozenten an einen studentischen Betreuer werden negative Handlungsdispositionen vermieden und Stärken gefördert.
