2 ABOUT STUDYWORLD 2014 StudyWorld 2014, the 9th International Fair for Higher and Continuing Education, offered a unique opportunity for motivated study-seekers to take home first-hand information on higher education, internships, funding opportunities and other educational services in Germany and abroad. From May 23-24, Russisches Haus der Wissenschaft und Kultur in Berlin became an international networking hub, with 8,124 visitors connecting with national and international higher education institutions, scholarship providers, consulting services and internship placement and exchange organisations from 25 countries. In addition to one-on-one advice from 193 exhibitors, 63 free presentations on study and career-related topics took place. Organised by ICWE GmbH, in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), StudyWorld continues to be Germany s only fair dedicated to worldwide continuing education. 5 TRENDS AND TESTIMONIALS Special Focus International Study Programmes This year StudyWorld s thematic focus was on International Study Programmes, shining the spotlight on programmes that provide university students with options for integrated international placements during their studies. Exhibitors and other organisations gave presentations on: Integrative programmes that specify a certain number of terms either as part of the study curriculum or as an internship at an international partner university abroad Multi-national study programmes which facilitate a dual or triple degree Programmes with emphasis on international studies that involve collaboration with foreign partner universities Focus topics Financing opportunities How to apply Working abroad Gap year Further education for professionals There are lots of really good talks to help plan for study abroad. 8 PRESS COVERAGE Radio shows were broadcast live from StudyWorld by German-wide station Deutschlandfunk, as well as coverage from Berlin stations Jam FM, Kiss FM and Star FM Extensive social media coverage reaching thousands of Facebook and Twitter fans from across the globe Over 250 press clippings from print and online newspapers, including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Der Tagesspiegel, Berliner Zeitung and Hamburger Abendblatt L i VE FROM STUDYWORLD! Special guests spoke to Deutschlandfunk about financing studies on the programme Campus and Careers, and German apprentices shared their experiences of work abroad on PISAPlus. 8

9 SYMPOSIUM Go out! Studieren weltweit (study worldwide) was again the slogan for the 8th Symposium on the International Mobility of German Students. Held on May 22, in the lead up to StudyWorld 2014, the conference attracted around 200 visitors. It was aimed at university staff working in the fields of administration, international exchange and public relations, as well as representatives from different faculties and institutes. The event, held at Aquino/Tagungszentrum Katholische Akademie in Berlin, was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in co-operation with ICWE GmbH.
