Und wer kauft Smartphones Für Deutschland gibt es diesbezüglich frische Zahlen: Erwartungsgemäß am größten ist der Anteil der Smartphone-Nutzer bei den 20- bis 29-Jährigen mit fast 45 Prozent. Eng verknüpft mit Smartphones wie mit Tablets sind neue Fotoanwendungen, so genannte Apps. Die Zahl der preiswert oder kostenlos verfügbaren Anwendungen für Endverbraucher umfasst mittlerweile viele tausende Apps, die sich vor allem um kreative Veränderungen der mit der Smartphonekamera aufgenommen Bilder, spezielle Funktionen für Foto- und Videoaufnahmen oder die Teilnahme an Bildcommunities drehen. Aber auch im professionellen Einsatz wird die mobile Kamera zum Werkzeug: In Krankenhäusern sehen Chirurgen detaillierte Aufnahmen der Nasennebenhöhle oder Ultraschallbilder werden auf das ipad-display übertragen. Oder: Um mit dem Patienten den bevorstehenden Eingriff zu besprechen, greift der Zahnarzt heute zum ipad und führt die Behandlungsschritte auf dem Display vor. Aber nicht nur im medizinischen Bereich wachsen die Mobile Imaging Anwendungen in Form von Apps: So wird das ipad via App zur Kommandozentrale und zeigt Liveaufnahmen verschiedener Überwachungskameras. Oder die eingebaute Kamera macht das Smartphone zum Business-Kartenlesegerät. Auch Immobilienmakler, Sachverständige und viele andere Berufsgruppen, die über Bilder kommunizieren, nutzen Mobile Imaging als neues Werkzeug in ihrem Beruf. Wir sehen gerade in dem Bereich der Business-Anwendungen noch sehr große Umsatzpotenziale für Mobile Imaging im Allgemeinen und entsprechenden Apps im Besonderen. Was diesbezüglich zählt, ist die zeit- und ortsunabhängige Kommunikation mit Bildern, erläutert Christoph Thomas. Eine wesentliches Segment des Mobile Imaging ist das Uploaden von Fotos und Videos in soziale Netzwerke. Alleine bei den führenden fotoaffinen Netzwerken Facebook, Photobucket oder flickr haben sich weltweit mittlerweile über 160 Milliarden Fotos angesammelt. Auf Youtube werden täglich etwa eine Milliarde Videos angeschaut, die zu 80 Prozent mit videofähigen Handys aufgenommen wurden. Etwa 60 Prozent aller Bilder in sozialen Netzwerken stammen von Smartphones und Co. dieser Wert wächst sprunghaft an. The important thing here is that independent communication using images does not depend on time and location, explains Christoph Thomas. An important part of Mobile Imaging is the uploading of photos and videos onto social networks. Over 160 billion photos worldwide have been collected by the leading photo-loving networks Facebook, Photobucket or flickr. On Youtube approximately a billion videos are watched daily whereby 80 percent of those had been filmed using a mobile phone with video capabilities. Während sich die neuen Kameras vom Prinzip her alle ähneln, könnten die Strategien und Positionierungen der Hersteller kaum unterschiedlicher sein. Die Begeisterung der Branche erklärt sich aus den hervorragenden Absatzzahlen, die von der japanischen Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) regelmäßig verbreitet werden. Für Panasonic-Produktplaner Michiharu Uematsu war schon damals klar: MicroFourThirds ist der beste Kompromiss zwischen kompakter Bauweise und anspruchsvoller Bildqualität. Eines der aktuell kleinsten MFT-Modelle ist die Olympus E-PM1, die inklusive Batterie und Speicherkarte gerade einmal 265 Gramm auf die Waage bringt. Kaum mehr als eine Kompaktkamera. Den Gewichtsvorteil erkämpft sich die Kleine dabei wie viele der ultrakompakten Systemkameras auch durch Verzicht auf ein eingebautes Blitzgerät. Dieser soll gegenüber den Micro- FourThirds-Kamera eine höhere Bildqualität bringen. So hebt etwa Canon hervor, dass sich mit der spiegellosen EOS-M in DSLR-Qualität fotografieren lasse. Der große Sensor ermögliche sowohl künstlerisch ansprechende Fotos mit attraktiver Hintergrundunschärfe als auch beeindruckende Nahaufnahmen. Pionier in der APS-C-Klasse war 2010 der koreanische Elektronikkonzern Samsung. Dessen Vizepräsident Byung Woo Lee betonte vor der offiziellen Einführung der Kamera vor allem die Kompaktheit des NX-Systems. Heute legt der Smartphone-Hersteller den Fokus auf eine seiner Stärken: Connectivity. Die neuen Modelle sind mit umfangreichen Drahtlos-Funktionen (Wi- Fi) ausgestattet. Zugleich bleibt die Bildqualität für Samsung ein Hauptargument: Jedes einzelne Pixel hat einen großen Sensorbereich und erhält somit mehr Licht. Das gewährleistet weniger Bildrauschen, einen hohen Dynamikbereich (HDR) und genaue Farbunterscheidung. Ähnlich argumentiert Sony, in deren NEX-7-Kamera ein großer Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor mit rekordträchtigen 24,3 Megapixeln verbaut ist. Dieser erzeugt Bilder mit sehr hoher Auflösung und schöne Unschärfe- Effekte. Fujifilm wiederum will sich von der Konkurrenz durch ein extrem profiliertes Retro-Design absetzen. Die Kameras der X-Serie verfügen als einzige Systemkameras über einen optischen Hybrid-Sucher. Sie sind zudem mit dem einzigartigen X-Trans-Sensor ausgestattet, dessen neue Farbfilter-Anordnung sich an der zufälligen Anordnung der Körnigkeit bei analogen Filmen orientiert. The pioneer in the APS-C class in 2010 was the Korean electronics company Samsung. Its Vice President Byung Woo Lee especially emphasized the compactness of the NX system at the official introduction of the camera. Today the smartphone manufacturer puts the focus on its strength: connectivity. The new models are equipped with extensive wireless functions (Wi- Fi). At the same time the image quality remains a main goal for Samsung: Each individual pixel has a large sensor area and thus takes in more light. That provides less image noise, a high dynamic range (HDR) and exact color differences. Sony has a similar standpoint because their NEX-7 camera contains a large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor with a record 24.3 megapixels. This creates images with a very high resolution and interesting diffuse effects. On the other hand, Fujifilm wants to separate itself from the competition via extreme retro design. The X-Series cameras are the only system Fujifilm X-Pro1

Noch konsequenter hat nur Pentax die Idee einer kompakten Systemkamera umgesetzt. Der Sensor der Pentax Q ist nicht größer als der einer herkömmlichen Kompaktkamera und das Modell fällt folglich deutlich kleiner aus als die Modelle des Wettbewerbs. In Sachen Bildqualität kann die Q dadurch allerdings nicht mit den größeren Kameras mithalten. Der ideale Kompromiss Für CSC-Pionier Panasonic stellt das Micro- FourThird-System derweil nach wie vor den besten Kompromiss zwischen Kompaktheit und Bildqualität dar. Kleinerer Sensoren mögen bei höheren ISO-Werten generell Nachteile haben, so Panasonic-Manager Michiharu Uematsu. Unter dem Strich geht es für die Konsumenten um die bestmögliche Balance zwischen Bildqualität und Baugröße der Objektive. Genau hier liegt die Stärke unseres Systems. Sony NEX5-R The ideal compromise For Panasonic, the CSC pioneer, the Micro Four Thirds system still continues to represent the best compromise between compactness and image quality. Smaller sensors possibly have a general disadvantage at higher ISO values, says Panasonic Manager Michiharu Uematsu. Innovations at intervals of a second, combined with an increasing range of features, are enabling the photo and imaging business to expand both vertically and horizontally. Current fashionable issues such as mobile imaging, apps, cloud, movie, connectivity, interactive and living picture they are only the tip of the iceberg and they have a real positive impact on the photo and imaging market and are opening up whole new areas of business and of value creation. It is the power of pictures which fascinates the user just a much as the advancing technical developments and possibilities which our business is offering. You mentioned Mobile Imaging what exactly does this term include Christoph Thomas: A continuous expansion of new concepts is tied up with the innovations. When in the early days there was talk of mobile imaging, what was primarily understood by that was the use of mobile phones with camera functions. Mobile data transfer, in the form today we all know and value today was unthinkable partly because of a lack of bandwidth and also because of a lack of applications. When today there is talk of mobile imaging, there is a vast and unbridgeable gap between the early days and now. Mobile imaging currently comprises receiving, editing with downloadable apps, the despatch of photos via for instance and Bluetooth, the uploading of photos directly into social networks, wireless photo transfer to for instance, TVs, beamers, printers, photo-kiosks and to online-photo-service providers and the archiving of photos in the cloud. Closely connected to the concept of mobile imaging are social imaging, connectivity and interactive. How does this development influence the existing photo market Christoph Thomas: Where outsiders see in products such as for instance smartphones a threat to our market, what we see is a valuable enrichment, not only because the number of image capture devices is rising, but also due to the continuing development of products such as wireless image transmission and also apps, which in future will expand the range of functions as they are seen by the user within cameras, and also in terms of new value creation. How will Canon continue to shape the world of imaging into the future Rokus van Iperen: We are proud of our long history of imaging innovation which is reflected in the fact that we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic Canon EOS System. The original EOS model in 1987 was based around the industry s first fully electronic lens, and a number of industry-leading developments have followed. Two recent additions to the EOS range serve as excellent examples of the ways in which Canon will continue to shape the evolution of still and moving images into the future. Firstly, we launched the Cinema EOS system in late 2011 to extend the EOS system to now support film and TV production and other high-end video capture applications.
