1 Mixed tenses revision: Gman Teaching notes This is a whole class game in wh one team (the red team) has to try to win hexagons in a row across the PowPoint grid from left to right, while the oth team (the black team) goes from top to bottom. In ord to progress across the board team membs have to give the correct form of a vb. Click once on a PowPoint hexagon to turn it red and twice to turn it black when a team answs correctly. The are a numb of ways to play the game, allowing diffentiation by ability, according to the tenses you wish to practise. An additional lay of challenge can be added to any of the games below by getting students to write their answs, for example on mini whiteboards. Slide 1 Use this slide to practise one tense at a time. Teams take it in turns to choose a hexagon (vb and pronoun) and then have to give the correct form of the tense being practised. Altnatively, you could have two teams of diffing ability (low and high). The low ability team could give answs in the tense whilst the high ability team answs in the tense (or oth more challenging tense). Slide 2 In this vsion of the game, each hexagon contains a vb, pronoun and tense prompt, so that diffent tenses can be practised togeth. Slide 3 Use this slide in conjunction with the mixed tense prompt cards on pages 2-3, wh need to be cut up in advance with each set in a bag or envelope. Teams take it in turn to choose a hexagon numb. The teach then draws a card at random from the bag. If the team answs correctly, click the hexagon until the correct colour appears for that team. This is similar to the game on slide 2 but includes a wid range of vb prompts. Altnatively, for more variety and challenge, cut up the infinitive prompt cards on pages 4-5, as well as the tense prompt cards and the pronoun prompt cards on page 6.
