7 This document contains instructions for installing the Novell NetWare version 5.1 operating system. The minimum amount of available space is 200 MB; therefore, a system with 1024 MB of RAM has an optimal boot partition of 1224 MB (1024 MB MB). This size allows you to do a core dump to the hard drive if required. Installation Instructions 5

This CD supports the installation of the operating system and can perform advanced tasks such as installing drivers and configuring RAID. Dell PowerEdge Service and Diagnostic Utilities CD version 4.3 Novell NetWare 5.1 Operating System CD Novell NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 8 CD Novell NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 8 Overlay CD Novell NetWare 5.1 License/Cryptography diskette DOS version 3.3 or later (DR-DOS version 7.0 is included on the Novell NetWare 5.1 License/Cryptography diskette) NOTE: Do not use the versions of DOS shipped with the Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT operating systems. 6 Installation Instructions

9 The necessary drivers for your system and/or peripherals on the Service and Diagnostic Utilities CD (see "Making Driver Diskettes" on page 7) Systems management support for NetWare 5.1 SP 8 with the Installation and Server Management CD NOTE: If you do not have the Installation and Server Management CD or the Service and Diagnostic Utilities CD, you can obtain them by enrolling in the Dell OpenManage Subscription Service. For more information, see "Dell OpenManage Subscription Service" on page 18. Supervisor permission (rights) at the root of the edirectory tree Read permission to the security container object for the edirectory tree: Novell Client for DOS and Windows 3.1x (optional, for installing from a system running NetWare with Internetwork Packet Exchange [IPX]) IP Server Connection utility (optional, for installing from a system running NetWare with Internet Protocol [IP] only) IP address and domain names (required for connecting to the Internet): IP address IP address of a domain name system Name of your Internet domain NIC and storage device properties, such as the interrupt and port addresses Making Driver Diskettes NOTE: You do not need to make driver diskettes if you install the operating system using the Installation and Server Management CD. Download the device drivers from the Dell Support website at support.dell.com or copy them from the Installation and Server Management CD to diskettes. If you are downloading the drivers from the website, follow the instructions for each driver to download the files to diskettes. When you have created the diskettes, insert the Dell driver diskettes into the diskette drive of the system on which you are installing the drivers, pressing <Enter> after inserting each diskette, and then copy the drivers to the c:\dell\drivers directory. NOTE: Ensure that you copy the drivers to the c:\dell\drivers directory so that they are not overwritten during support pack installation. The c:\dell\drivers directory contains Dell-specific drivers. Place any copies of newer Dell drivers in this directory. See the Dell Support website at support.dell.com for the latest supported drivers. Installation Instructions 7

10 support.dell.com Pre-installation Activities Before you begin, review the documentation that came with the NetWare software for important product information. Also review your Dell system documentation for additional information about the NetWare installation process, specific system features, and known issues. NOTE: The latest information for your system is provided in the Information Update document. Documentation for your system is available from the Dell Support website at support.dell.com. Look for the Information Update document under "Latest Product Information." Before you turn on your system for the first time, connect the keyboard, monitor, mouse, and network card, and attach any other devices that you intend to use with your system. Support for Hyper-Threading Technology NetWare 5.1 SP 5 and later uses Hyper-Threading on systems that use the Intel Xeon DP and Xeon MP processors. Hyper-Threading enables one processor to appear to the software as two virtual processors, which gives the system a performance boost based on the number of concurrent threads. Systems that use the Xeon DP and MP processors are enabled to support Hyper-Threading when they are shipped from Dell. NOTE: Hyper-Threading is not supported on all systems. Refer to your system documentation to ensure that Hyper-Threading is supported. Revisions are occasionally made to the Hyper-Threading modules. See the Novell support and downloads website to download the latest Hyper-Threading modules. NOTE: USB and hot-plug technologies are not supported with Hyper-Threading. If your system supports Hyper-Threading (called Logical Processor in the system BIOS), and if you are using the NetWare 5.1 Overlay CD with SP 5 or later, you will need to enable Hyper-Threading in the operating system by following the steps described in "Enabling the Logical Processor in the Operating System" on page 9. If your system supports Hyper-Threading, and if you are using the NetWare 5.1 installation CD (with no integrated support pack), or the NetWare 5.1 Overlay CD with SP 4 or earlier to install the operating system (with or without the Installation and Server Management CD), Hyper-Threading is not supported. Before you install NetWare using the Novell NetWare installation CD or the Installation and Server Management CD, you must disable the Logical Processor in the system BIOS or your system will hang. See "Disabling or Enabling the Logical Processor in the System BIOS" on page 9 for instructions on how to disable the Logical Processor in the system BIOS. After you disable Hyper-Threading, continue with the operating system installation. When the installation is complete, upgrade your system to NetWare 5.1 SP 5 or later. Either use the standalone support pack CD or download the support pack from the Novell support and downloads website at support.novell.com. Hyper-Threading is supported only with SP 5 or later installed on the system. When the upgrade is complete, enable the Logical Processor in the operating system. See "Enabling the Logical Processor in the Operating System" on page 9. 8 Installation Instructions

11 Disabling or Enabling the Logical Processor in the System BIOS 1 Turn on your system. 2 As your system begins its startup process, press <F2> to run setup. The system BIOS settings appear. 3 Highlight CPU Information and press <Enter>. A pop-up window displays system settings. 4 Highlight Logical Processor and follow the displayed instructions to change the setting to Disabled (or Enabled). Enabling the Logical Processor in the Operating System 1 Download the psm4b.exe patch from the Novell support and downloads website at support.novell.com. This patch contains drivers to enable Hyper-Threading in the operating system. 2 Extract the files to a diskette and insert the diskette in the diskette drive. 3 At the DOS prompt, type the following command: copy a:\acpi*.* c:\nwserver This command copies the following files to the c:\nwserver directory: acpica.nlm acpidrv.mdi acpidrv.psm 4 Edit the STARTUP.NCF file: a Comment out the Load mps14.psm line: rem Load mps14.psm b Add the following lines to load the acpica.nlm and acpidrv.psm drivers: LOAD acpica.nlm LOAD acpidrv.psm The beginning of the STARTUP.NCF file should appear similar to the following example: rem LOAD mps14.psm LOAD acpica.nlm LOAD acpidrv.psm 5 Restart your system. 6 Enable the Logical Processor again, as described in "Disabling or Enabling the Logical Processor in the System BIOS" on page 9. 12 support.dell.com Installing NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Using the Installation and Server Management CD NOTE: If your system supports Hyper-Threading, see "Support for Hyper-Threading Technology" on page 8. This section contains the procedure for installing NetWare 5.1 SP 8 using the Installation and Server Management CD. Dell recommends that you use the Installation and Server Management CD to install your operating system because it contains the latest supported drivers that you need for a stable and supported operating environment. Using this bootable CD simplifies the setup of your system by automating system configuration and software installation tasks. For more information, see the Installation and Server Management CD or the Dell Support website at support.dell.com. As you complete this procedure, all of the installation and configuration activity occurs in a window within the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant main window. To install NetWare 5.1 SP 8 using the Installation and Server Management CD, perform the following steps: 1 Turn on your system and immediately insert the Installation and Server Management CD into the CD drive. The Welcome to Dell OpenManage Server Assistant window appears. 2 Select the language in the left section of the window, and click Click here for server setup in the right section of the window. The Set the Date and Time window appears. 3 Set the date, time, and time zone and click Continue. The Configure RAID window appears. 4 Select your RAID configuration settings, type the number or slide the bar to set the RAID virtual disk size, and click Continue. The Select Operating System to Install window appears. 5 Click Novell NetWare 5.1 and then click Continue. NOTE: This step assumes that you are performing a new installation of NetWare 5.1. The Configure Hard Drive window appears. 10 Installation Instructions

13 6 Select the Boot Partition Size, Volume SYS Size, and NetWare Partition Size settings and click Continue. NOTE: Dell recommends a 1500-MB boot partition size and at least a 4-GB SYS volume size. NOTICE: A pop-up window appears if you have data or partitions on your hard drive. Data loss will occur in this case if you are not performing a new installation of NetWare 5.1. A pop-up window might display a message telling you that all partitions and data will be lost. If you are performing a new installation of NetWare 5.1 and the pop-up window does display, you can ignore this message. Click Yes to continue. The Enter Novell NetWare 5.1 Configuration Information window appears. 7 Complete the requested information in the appropriate fields. Ensure that you scroll down the window to complete all of the information fields. 8 After you enter and verify the information in step 7, click Continue. The Operating System Installation Summary window displays the configuration settings you chose in step 7. 9 Verify the settings. If you do not agree with the summary, click Start Over and edit the installed components. Otherwise, click Continue. The Novell NetWare Installation Wizard window appears. 10 Click Eject CD Automatically and then click Next. After the system completes copying Dell-specific drivers, the CD drive automatically ejects the CD and the system displays a message telling you the drivers have been copied. 11 Remove the Installation and Server Management CD and insert the NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay CD. A pop-up window appears telling you to leave the NetWare 5.1 CD in the CD drive. 12 Click Finish and wait while the system restarts. The system restarts, copies files, and searches for duplicate information. The Licenses window displays the location of the license file. 13 Load the license file: a Insert the NetWare 5.1 License/Cryptography diskette into the diskette drive. b Click the directory tree icon. The Select a license (.nlf file) window appears. c In the right side of the window, click the license file, xxxxxxxx.nlf, and click OK. Setup returns to the Licenses window and adds the license file to the list. 14 Click Next. The NetWare Web Manager Settings window lists the Web Manager port number. Installation Instructions 11

14 support.dell.com 15 Click Next. Wait while the system copies files. A Progress pop-up window displays the progress of the installation. NOTE: As your system copies files, you might see a pop-up window telling you that a newer version of the file is already on your system. Select the action you want to perform and click OK. The Installation complete window appears. 16 Remove the CD and diskette and click Yes to restart the system. After your system restarts, the NetWare 5.1 installation is complete. Installing NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Using the Operating System CD or the Overlay CD The following instructions are for an express installation of NetWare. If you are performing a custom installation, see the Novell installation documentation at Preinstallation Requirements Verify that your system meets the minimum required driver and firmware versions and the required system configuration parameters and component revision levels. This information is in the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Compatibility Guide. After verifying the information, download required patches from the Novell support and downloads website at support.novell.com. See "Pre-installation Activities" on page 8 for more information. Installing NetWare 5.1 Complete the following steps to install NetWare 5.1 using either the NetWare 5.1 Operating System CD or the NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay CD. If you are using the NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay CD, complete the following procedure only through step Insert the NetWare 5.1 Operating System CD or the NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay CD into the CD drive. 2 Select your language and accept the License Agreement. 3 Create a new boot partition of 1500 MB. Your system reboots, creates the new boot partition, and then reboots again. 4 Accept the License Agreement. 5 Press <Alt><F10> to exit the installation. 6 Go to the DOS partition on the C:\ drive. 7 Create the NWUPDATE directory and copy the patches and drivers you previously downloaded to the NWUPDATE directory. 8 Press <Ctrl><Alt><Del> to reboot the system to the CD. 12 Installation Instructions

15 9 Continue with the installation by selecting any required options and accepting default settings where required. NOTE: Keep the existing DOS partition so that the changes you made previously are not overwritten. 10 Complete the following steps if you are installing additional drivers while performing a fresh NetWare installation from the NetWare 5.1 CD: a Create a driver diskette(s) (see "Making Driver Diskettes" on page 7). b Follow the prompts until the appropriate driver type screen appears and select that driver type. c Press <Insert> to add unlisted drivers. d Press <Insert> again to display the driver directory. e Insert the driver diskette(s) and press <Enter> after inserting each diskette. f The system finds the appropriate driver for the device. g Return to the Driver Summary window and continue the installation. 11 When the GUI part of the installation begins, follow the instructions on the screen. If you are installing the operating system using the NetWare 5.1 Operating System CD, proceed to the next section, "Installing Support Pack 8" on page 13, after the operating system installation is complete. If you are installing the operating system using the NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay CD, the installation is complete. 12 When the GUI part of the installation is complete, select No, do not reboot. 13 Install the support pack. Installing Support Pack 8 Dell does not include support packs on the CDs it provides. To obtain the support pack, you must have the NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 8 CD, or you must download the support pack from the Novell support and downloads website. NOTE: Before you install SP 8, stop the Dell OpenManage software services. Installation Instructions 13

16 support.dell.com To install NetWare 5.1 SP 8, perform the following steps: 1 Disable the Dell OpenManage software. To disable Dell OpenManage 4.x, run the following command from the command line: Dell/omanage/IWS/bin/netware/omastop To disable Dell OpenManage 3.x: Open the autoexec.ncf file and comment out (;) the following lines: dell\omanage\omsa\dcstart arraymgr.ncf sys:system\dell\omanage\iws\bin\netware\omastart sys:system\dell\omanage\rac\d3start (only if a DRAC III/XT, ERA, or ERA/O card is installed) Restart the system 2 At the system console screen, type cdrom and press <Enter>. 3 Insert the NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 8 CD into the CD drive (or, if you downloaded the support pack, launch the downloaded file). 4 Type nwconfig and press <Enter>. 5 When prompted to select product options, select Install a product not listed. 6 Type the path to the support pack and press <Enter>. 7 When the support pack installation is complete, restart the system. 8 Enable the Dell OpenManage software if you are using version 3.x by removing the comments from the lines you commented in step 1 and restart the system. The operating system and support pack installations are complete. For postinstallation configuration and further installation information, see the next section "Postinstallation Activities" on page 14 of this document. You can also find these documents on the Dell Support website at support.dell.com. NOTE: If you have installed NetWare 5.1 operating system and SP 8 as mentioned above, download the latest drivers from support.dell.com and update the system. Postinstallation Activities System Video Drivers NOTICE: Selecting the incorrect video driver or monitor for your system can cause your system to hang. Dell recommends that you use the default Super VGA driver that was configured automatically during installation. NOTE: If you need to reset your X Window System environment, at the Novell NetWare System Console window, run either the SYS:JAVA\NWGFX\DEF_RSP.NC file (for VGA mode) or the SYS:JAVA\NWGFX\VESA_RSP.NCF file (for SVGA mode). 14 Installation Instructions

17 Important Information Installing Additional Drivers in an Existing NetWare Installation Complete the following steps if you are installing additional drivers into an existing NetWare installation: 1 At the system console, type NWCONFIG and press <Enter>. The Configuration Options screen appears. 2 Select Driver Options and press <Enter>. 3 Select the desired driver configuration option and press <Enter>. 4 Select Select an additional driver. The Select a Driver screen appears. 5 Press <Insert>. 6 Press <F3> to select a new path. 7 Type A: and insert the driver diskette(s) created in "Making Driver Diskettes" on page 7 into the diskette drive, pressing <Enter> after inserting each diskette. The system finds the appropriate driver for the device. 8 Return to the Driver Summary window and continue the installation. PERC Controllers Appear as PCI to PCI Bridge in NCMCON PERC controllers get displayed as PCI to PCI Bridge in the Novell Configuration Manager Console (NCMCON). This is only a display problem and does not affect the working of the PERC RAID controllers in any way. PERC controllers, however, cannot be hot-plugged with NetWare 5.1. Issuing a racadm racreset Command for DRAC When a racadm racreset command is issued for the DRAC4, the NetWare operating system interprets the command as an IDE device being removed and/or replaced. This causes the NetWare server to become sluggish and could eventually cause the system to shut down abnormally. To avoid this situation, run scan for new devices from the server console after issuing the racadm racreset command. NOTE: Virtual Media enables the managed system to remotely access a diskette or CD located on the management station. This feature is not supported on Netware 5.1. Verification Test After a Tape Backup Displays Failure Message The first time you run the verification test after you perform a tape backup on a PowerEdge 500SC system with an IDE Travan tape drive, a failure message appears. The failure occurs because of a problem in the verification test program. Dell has verified that there is no data corruption. Rerun the verification test. Subsequent verification tests complete successfully. Installation Instructions 15

18 support.dell.com Internal IDE Travan Drive Deactivates During Normal Operation During normal operation of the NetWare 5.1 SP 7 and later software on a system with an internal IDE Travan drive, you might see a message on the server console stating that the device was deactivated. This is a normal message because the device is reset after certain operations. The device reactivates and is available for use. Dell OpenManage Array Manager Does Not Display RAID Arrays From Client Console If you plan to use Array Manager to see the RAID arrays on the system, you must copy the MEGAMMIO.NLM file from C:\NWSERVERS\DRIVERS to C:\NWSERVER. Hot-Plug PCI Support in NetWare 5.1 NOTE: For information about hot-plug restrictions and compatibilities, see "Support for Hyper-Threading Technology" on page 8. Dell supports PCI hot-replace functionality in NetWare 5.1 with the following currently shipping hot-pluggable adapters: Intel NICs Broadcom NICs QLogic HBAs See the Dell Support website at support.dell.com for the currently supported hot-plug-compatible systems. The following lists contain the installed hot-plug PCI modules for both Dell-specific and Novell-specific drivers. Dell-specific modules (available from support.dell.com): DELLSBD.NLM System bus driver DCHAPI32.NLM Hardware API DCDIOM32.NLM Device I/O manager NetWare 5.1-specific modules (available on NetWare 5.1 CDs): NCM.NLM Novell Configuration Manager, which manages the hot-plug system NCMCON.NLM PCI hot-plug user interface, the Novell Configuration Manager Console ODINEB.NLM Combines the Open Data-Link Interface (ODI) and the Novell Event Bus (NEB) that enables the NEB to control device drivers 16 Installation Instructions

19 Enabling Hot-Plug PCI Operation When Dell OpenManage 4.3 is installed and running: a b Download the web release of the DELLSBD package. Extract only DELLSBD.NLM to SYS:\System\Dell\omanage\Hapi c Load SYS:\System\Dell\omanage\Hapi\DELLSBD.NLM from the server console. When Dell OpenManage 4.3 components are not installed: a b Extract all the files to SYS:\System. Load DELLSBD.NLM from the server console. USB Keyboards and NetWare 5.1 NOTE: Dell recommends installing all NetWare support packs as they become available. NetWare 5.1 does not natively support USB keyboards, but USB keyboards do work on selected PowerEdge systems that have system BIOS support for PS/2 emulation. Dell recommends that you use NetWare 5.1 SP 4 or above with a USB keyboard. If you experience problems installing NetWare 5.1 on a PowerEdge server that has system BIOS support for PS/2 emulation, Dell recommends that you first install a PS/2 keyboard, upgrade your system to SP 7 or later, and then restart your system. When your system restarts, you can use the USB keyboard. To see if your system supports PS/2 emulation, open the system BIOS setup program by pressing <F2> during system start-up to view the USB setting. Ensure that you check the Dell Support website at support.dell.com for newer system BIOS versions that support PS/2 emulation. SP 8 Upgrade and Dell OpenManage Installation While upgrading from SP 6 and earlier, JVM is not upgraded due to Websphere's dependency on JVM version As Dell OpenManage 4.x requires JVM 1.31 or later, JVM has to be manually upgraded after the SP 8 installation. Reportez-vous également à la documentation du système Dell pour prendre connaissance des informations supplémentaires sur la procédure d'installation de NetWare, les fonctions spécifiques du système et les problèmes connus. Avant de mettre le système sous tension pour la première fois, vous devez connecter le clavier, l'écran, la souris, la carte réseau et les autres périphériques que vous envisagez d'utiliser avec le système. Prise en charge de la technologie Hyper-Threading NetWare 5.1 SP 5 et les versions suivantes utilisent la technologie Hyper-Threading sur les systèmes dotés de processeurs Intel Xeon DP et Xeon MP. Cette technologie permet à un processeur d'être perçu comme deux processeurs virtuels par les logiciels, ce qui accroît considérablement les performances du système en fonction du nombre d'unités d'exécution (les threads ) simultanées. Les systèmes Dell équipés de processeurs Xeon DP et MP sont configurés pour assurer la prise en charge de l'hyper-threading. REMARQUE : cette technologie n'est prise en charge que sur certains systèmes. Reportez-vous à la documentation de votre système pour savoir si ce dernier prend en charge l'hyper-threading. Des révisions sont apportées de temps à autre aux modules Hyper-Threading. Visitez le site Web d'assistance technique et de téléchargement de Novell pour télécharger les derniers modules Hyper-Threading. REMARQUE : les technologies USB et de connexion à chaud ne sont pas prises en charge avec la technologie Hyper-Threading. Si le système est compatible avec l'hyper-threading (option Logical Processor (Processeur logique) dans le BIOS du système) et si vous utilisez le CD NetWare 5.1 Overlay avec le Service Pack 5 ou suivant, vous devez activer l'hyper-threading dans le système d'exploitation. Pour ce faire, suivez les instructions de la section Activation du processeur logique dans le système d'exploitation àlapage27. Si le système prend en charge l'hyper-threading mais que, pour installer le système d'exploitation, vous utilisez le CD d'installation NetWare 5.1 (sans Support Pack intégré) ou le CD NetWare 5.1 Overlay avec SP 4 ou version antérieure, la technologie Hyper-Threading ne sera pas prise en charge. Que vous utilisiez le CDInstallation and Server Management ne fait aucune différence. Avant d'installer NetWare à l'aide du CD d'installation Novell NetWare ou du CD Installation and Server Management, vous devez désactiver l'option Logical Processor (Processeur logique) dans le BIOS du système. Sinon, le système risque de se bloquer. Consultez la section Activation ou désactivation du processeur logique dans le BIOS système à la page 27 pour savoir comment désactiver l'option Logical Processor (Processeur logique) dans le BIOS du système. 26 Instructions d'installation

29 Une fois l'hyper-threading désactivé, poursuivez l'installation du système d'exploitation. L'installation terminée, mettez le système à niveau vers NetWare 5.1 avec SP 5 ou suivant. Vous pouvez utiliser le CD du Support Pack ou télécharger ce dernier à partir du site de support et de téléchargement de Novell, à l'adresse support.novell.com. L'Hyper-Threading est pris en charge que si le Support Pack 5 ou suivant est installé sur le système. Lorsque la mise à jour est terminée, activez le processeur logique dans le système d'exploitation. Voir Activation du processeur logique dans le système d'exploitation à la page 27. Activation ou désactivation du processeur logique dans le BIOS système 1 Mettez le système sous tension. 2 Au démarrage du système, appuyez sur la touche <F2> pour exécuter le programme de configuration. Les paramètres du BIOS système s'affichent. 3 Mettez en évidence l'option CPU Information et appuyez sur <Entrée>. Une fenêtre contextuelle contenant les paramètres système s'affiche. 4 Mettez en évidence l'option Logical Processor (Processeur logique) et suivez les instructions affichées pour changer la valeur de Disabled (Désactivé) à Enabled (Activé) ou inversement. Activation du processeur logique dans le système d'exploitation 1 Téléchargez le correctif psm4b.exe à partir du site support.novell.com. Ce correctif contient les pilotes qui permettent d'activer l'hyper-threading dans le système d'exploitation. 2 Extrayez les fichiers sur une disquette et insérez celle-ci dans le lecteur. 3 À l'invite DOS, tapez la commande suivante : copy a:\acpi*.* c:\nwserver Les fichiers suivants sont copiés dans le répertoire c:\nwserver : acpica.nlm acpidrv.mdi acpidrv.psm 4 Ouvrez le fichier STARTUP.NCF : a Mettez la ligne Load mps14.psm en commentaire en ajoutant la mention rem : rem Load mps14.psm b Ajoutez les lignes suivantes pour charger les pilotes acpica.nlm et acpidrv.psm : LOAD acpica.nlm LOAD acpidrv.psm Instructions d'installation 27

30 support.dell.com Le début du fichier STARTUP.NCF doit maintenant ressembler à ce qui suit : rem LOAD mps14.psm LOAD acpica.nlm LOAD acpidrv.psm 5 Redémarrez le système. 6 Réactivez le processeur logique comme indiqué à la section Activation ou désactivation du processeur logique dans le BIOS système à la page 27. Installation de NetWare 5.1 SP 8 à l'aide du CD Installation and Server Management REMARQUE : si le système prend en charge la technologie Hyper-Threading, consultez la section Prise en charge de la technologie Hyper-Threading à la page 26. Cette section présente la procédure d'installation de NetWare 5.1 SP 8 à l'aide du CD Installation and Server Management. Dell recommande d'utiliser le CD Installation and Server Management pour installer le système d'exploitation, car il contient les derniers pilotes pris en charge nécessaires à la stabilité de l'environnement d'exploitation. Ce CD amorçable simplifie la définition du système en automatisant sa configuration et les tâches d'installation des logiciels. Pour plus d'informations, reportez-vous au CD Installation and Server Management ou consultez le site support.dell.com. Toutes les informations relatives à l'installation et à la configuration apparaissent dans la fenêtre principale de Dell OpenManage Server Assistant. Pour installer NetWare 5.1 SP 8 à l'aide du CD Installation and Server Management, procédez comme suit : 1 Mettez le système sous tension et introduisez immédiatement le CD Installation and Server Management dans le lecteur. La fenêtre Welcome to Dell OpenManage Server Assistant (Bienvenue dans l'assistant Dell OpenManager Server) s'affiche. 2 Sélectionnez votre langue dans la partie gauche de la fenêtre et cliquez sur Click here for server setup (Configuration du serveur) dans la partie droite. La fenêtre Set the Date and Time (Définir la date et l'heure) s'affiche. 3 Réglez la date, l'heure et le fuseau horaire, puis cliquez sur Continue (Continuer). La fenêtre Configure RAID (Configuration RAID) s'affiche. 4 Sélectionnez les paramètres de configuration RAID appropriés, définissez la taille du disque RAID virtuel en entrant le nombre correspondant ou en faisant glisser le curseur sur la règle, puis cliquez sur Continue (Continuer). La fenêtre Select Operating System to Install (Sélection du système d'exploitation à installer) s'affiche. 28 Instructions d'installation

31 5 Cliquez sur Novell NetWare 5.1 puis sur Continuer (Continuer). REMARQUE : cette étape se rapporte à une installation entièrement nouvelle de NetWare 5.1. La fenêtre Configure Hard Drive (Configuration du disque dur) s'affiche. 6 Définissez les paramètres suivants : Boot partition size (Taille de la partition d'initialisation), Volume SYS Size (Taille du volume SYS) et NetWare Partition Size (Taille de la partition NetWare). Cliquez ensuite sur Continue (Continuer). REMARQUE : Dell vous conseille de définir une taille de 1500 Mo pour la partition de démarrage et d'au moins 4 Go pour le volume SYS. AVIS : une fenêtre contextuelle s'affiche s'il existe des données ou des partitions sur votre disque dur. Vous risquez de perdre des données dans ce cas si vous n'effectuez pas une installation de NetWare 5.1 à partir de zéro. Une fenêtre contextuelle vous indiquant que toutes les partitions et données seront perdues peut s'afficher. Si vous effectuez une installation de NetWare 5.1 à partir de zéro et que cette fenêtre contextuelle apparaît, vous pouvez ne pas tenir compte de ce message. Cliquez sur Yes (Oui) pour continuer. La fenêtre Enter Novell NetWare 5.1 Configuration Information (Entrée des informations de configuration de Novell NetWare 5.1) s'affiche. 7 Indiquez les informations demandées dans les zones correspondantes. Veillez à faire défiler l'affichage jusqu'au bas de la fenêtre pour n'oublier aucune zone d'information. 8 Lorsque vous avez entré et vérifié les informations de l'étape 7, cliquez sur Continue (Continuer). La fenêtre Operating System Installation Summary (Récapitulatif d'installation du système d'exploitation) affiche un résumé des paramètres de configuration sélectionnés à l'étape 7. 9 Vérifiez ces paramètres. Si le résumé de vous convient pas, cliquez sur Start Over (Recommencer) et modifiez votre sélection. Sinon, cliquez sur Continue (Continuer). La fenêtre Novell NetWare Installation Wizard (Assistant d'installation Novell NetWare) s'affiche. 10 Cliquez sur Eject CD Automatically (Éjecter le CD automatiquement), puis sur Next (Suivant). Lorsque le système a terminé la copie des pilotes spécifiques à Dell, le lecteur de CD éjecte automatiquement le CD et le système affiche un message indiquant que les pilotes ont été copiés. 11 Retirez le CD Installation and Server Management, puis insérez le CD NetWare 5.1 SP 8 Overlay. Une fenêtre contextuelle vous demandant de laisser le CD NetWare 5.1 dans le lecteur de CD s'affiche. Instructions d'installation 29
