1 ECC Clearing-Information No. 29/2010 Aktivierung der EUREX Funktionalität Automatische Ausübung von Optionen auf EEX Phelix Futures Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, im November 2010 aktiviert ECC im EUREX Clearing System die Funktionalität für die automatische Ausübung von Optionen auf Phelix Futures am EEX Terminmarkt. Erstmals verfügbar ist diese Funktionalität zum Verfall der Phelix-Base-Month-Option O1BM DEC10 am 25. November Mit dieser Clearing-Information möchten wir Sie über das Setup der Parameter im EUREX System, die geänderte Prozesse im Zuge der automatischen Optionsausübung und die geplante Simulation informieren. EUREX Parameter Set-up Mit Einführung der automatischen Ausübung wird das Automatic Exercise Parameter Maintenance-Window im EUREX Clearing GUI für alle Teilnehmer aktiviert. Folgende Berechtigungen (RAL) müssen angepasst bzw. freigeschaltet werden, um berechtigten Personen Zugriff auf dieses Fenster zu gewähren: RAL 246 Automatic Exercise (Clearing) RAL 170 In-the-Money Inquiry/Exercise (Clearing) RAL 171 Exercise Entry/Abandon Exercise Entry (Clearing) RAL 172 OptnI 4EP Appr (Security) = Freigaberecht beim 4-Augen-Prinzip RAL 173 Assignment Inquiry (Clearing) RAL 199 Exercise Inquiry (Clearing) RAL 200 Exercise Assignment Inquiry (Clearing) Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Freischaltung ausschließlich in der Verantwortung der Teilnehmer liegt und die Zuweisung der Rechte nicht automatisch erfolgt, sondern diese vom jeweiligen Teilnehmer internen Security Administrator zugeordnet werden müssen. Sie können gern die EEX Marktsteuerung beauftragen, in Ihrem Namen die erforderlichen Anpassungen vorzunehmen. Zusätzlich ist vom Benutzer der in-the-money-minimum Betrag im Feld ITMMin zu pflegen. Dieser gibt an, mit welchem Betrag pro Kontrakt die Position am Verfallstag im Geld sein muss, um eine automatische Ausübung auszulösen. Der in-the-money-minimum Betrag kann als absoluter oder prozentualer Wert vom Strike Preis angegeben werden. Dies wird im Pflichtfeld Cod mit den Werten A für absolute und P für prozentuale Angaben definiert. Der Wert bezieht sich auf einen Kontrakt (z.b. 1 MW der Phelix Monatsoption O1BM DEC10 entspricht 744 MWh). Das Feld ITMMin wird durch die EEX mit einem Standardwert von 99,99 EUR als absolute Angabe belegt. 1

2 Prozess am Ausübungs-/Verfallstag Am Ausübungstag ermittelt die EEX um 14:00 Uhr MEZ einen Intraday-Fixing-Preis für das jeweilige Underlying der Optionen und gibt ihn rechtzeitig vor dem Verfallstermin um 15:00 MEZ Uhr bekannt. Dieser Intraday-Fixing-Preis ist bei automatischer Ausübung der Option die Grundlage zur Ermittlung des in-the-money Betrages pro Kontrakt und Konto. Die Futuresposition wird zum Strike-Preis eingebucht und die Variation Margin auf Basis des täglichen Settlementpreises im anschließenden Batchzyklus berechnet. Der ermittelte in-the-money Betrag wird automatisch gegen den vom Teilnehmer festgelegten ITMMin Parameter geprüft. Sollte der ermittelte in-the-money Betrag über dem genannten Parameter liegen, wird die Option automatisch ausgeübt, liegt er darunter, findet keine automatische Ausübung statt. Die Möglichkeit der manuellen Ausübung von Optionen ist weiterhin gegeben. So können Optionen von der automatischen Ausübung insgesamt ausgenommen oder auch out-of-the-money Optionen manuell ausgeübt werden. Diese Festlegungen erfolgen allein im Verantwortungsbereich des Teilnehmers. Ein sogenanntes 4-Augen-Prinzip wird vom System unterstützt und kann vom jeweiligen Teilnehmer internen Security Administrator für entsprechende User IDs aktiviert werden. Damit kann das Risiko einer unbeabsichtigten manuellen Ausübung von out-of-the-money Optionen und einer unbeabsichtigten manuellen Nicht-Ausübung von in-the-money Optionen minimiert werden. Der Ausübungszeitpunkt, 15:00 Uhr MEZ am Verfallstag, wird beibehalten. Außerdem enden der Börsenhandel sowie die Registrierung von OTC-Geschäften um 15:00 Uhr MEZ am Verfallstag für alle Fälligkeiten in dem jeweiligen Produkt (z.b. für alle Monatsoptionen bei Verfall O1BM DEC10). Unmittelbar nach Uhr MEZ mit dem Wechsel in die Systemphase POSTR werden im Fenster Exercise Assignment Overview die Ergebnisse der Ausübung angezeigt. Wir möchten Sie bitten, diese Änderungen in Ihren internen Prozessen entsprechend zu berücksichtigen. Simulation Die Funktionalität für die automatische Ausübung steht bereits in der EUREX Simulationsumgebung zur Verfügung. Folgende Produkte können im Oktober zu Testzwecken genutzt werden: Contract Verfallstag EUREX Simulation Kalendertag O1BM NOV Oktober Oktober 2010 O1BT NOV Oktober Oktober 2010 ECC wird gemeinsam mit EEX die Simulation der automatischen Ausübungen an den genannten Tagen begleiten. 4 ECC Clearing-Information No. 29/2010 Activation of the EUREX Automatic Exercise Functionality for Options on EEX Phelix Futures Dear Sir or Madam, In November 2010 ECC will activate the Automatic Exercise function for options on Phelix Futures on the EEX Derivatives Market within the EUREX Clearing System. As a result, this functionality will be available for the first time for the expiry of the Phelix Base Month Option O1BM DEC10 on 25 November In this Clearing Information we would like to provide information regarding the set-up of the parameters within the EUREX system, the changed processes for automatic exercising options and the planned simulation to you. EUREX Parameter Set-Up Upon the introduction of the automatic exercising the Automatic Exercise Parameter Maintenance window will be activated in the EUREX Clearing GUI for all trading participants. In order to grant access to this window to all users, the following authorisations (RAL) have to be activated or, if required, adjusted: RAL 246 Automatic Exercise (Clearing) RAL 170 In-the-Money Inquiry/Exercise (Clearing) RAL 171 Exercise Entry/Abandon Exercise Entry (Clearing) RAL 172 OptnI 4EP Appr (Security) = Approval right under 4-eyes principle RAL 173 Assignment Inquiry (Clearing) RAL 199 Exercise Inquiry (Clearing) RAL 200 Exercise Assignment Inquiry (Clearing) Please consider that this activation exclusively lies within the responsibility of the participants and that the rights are not allocated automatically but have to be assigned by the internal Security Administrator of the respective trading participant. You can, of course, instruct EEX Market Supervision to effect the required modifications on your behalf. In addition to this, the user has to update the in-the-money-minimum amount in the ITMMin field. This specifies at which amount per contract the position has to be in-the-money on the expiry day in order to trigger automatic exercising. The in-the-money-minimum amount can be specified as an absolute value or as a percentage of the strike price. This is defined in the mandatory field Cod with the values A for absolute and P for percentage instructions. The value refers to one contract (e.g. 1 MW of the Phelix Month Option O1BM DEC10 corresponds to 744 MWh). The ITMMin field is assigned the default value of EUR as an absolute value by EEX. 4

5 Procedure on the exercise day/expiry day On the exercise day, EEX establishes an intraday fixing price for the underlying of the respective option at 14:00 CET and publishes this price in due time before the expiry of the option at CET. In automatic exercising of options, this intraday fixing price forms the basis for the determination of the in-the-money amount per contract and account. The Futures position is opened at the strike price and in the following batch run the variation margin is calculated on basis of the daily settlement prices. The in-the-money amount established is automatically checked against the ITMMin parameter specified by the respective participant. If the established in-the-money amount is higher than the given parameter, the option is exercised automatically. If it is lower than that, automatic exercising does not take place. Options can still be exercised manually, however. For example, options can be excluded from automatic exercising or out-of-the-money options can be exercised manually. The specifications with regard to this rest exclusively with the trading participant. A so-called four-eye-principle is supported by the system and can be set up for the corresponding user-ids by the internal Security Administrator of the respective trading participant. This helps to minimise the risk of unintended manual exercising of out-of-the-money options and unintentional manual non-exercising of in-the-money options. The time of exercising at 15:00 CET on the expiry day is maintained. Furthermore, exchange trading and the registration of OTC trades end for all maturities in the respective product (e.g. for all month options upon expiry of O1BM DEC10) at 15:00 CET on the expiry day. The exercise results will be displayed in the Exercise Assignment Overview window after CET upon the switch to the POSTR system phase. We would like to ask you to consider these changes within your internal procedures. Simulation The Automatic Exercise function is already available in the EUREX simulation environment. The following products can be used for testing purposes in October: Contract EUREX simulation expiry day Calendar day O1BM NOV10 26 October to 26 October 2010 O1BT NOV10 26 October to 26 October 2010 Together with EEX ECC will support the simulation of the automatic exercises on the days specified.
