3 Grundsatz Die Hochschule für Wirtschaft FHNW fördert die Entwicklung von Dozierenden und wissenschaftlichem Mittelbau. Sie möchte den Anteil der promovierten und promovierenden (doktorierenden) Mitarbeitenden durch gezielte Förderungsmassnahmen erhöhen. Die Förderung sieht vor, dass der/die Mitarbeitende Teilzeit an der HSW/FHNW angestellt ist, ihr/ihm aber ein Teil des Anstellungspensums frei für seine/ihre Promotionstätigkeit zur Verfügung gestellt wird. 3

4 Rahmenbedingungen Als wertmässige Obergrenze pro Person 350 Arbeitsstunden pro Jahr Promotionsförderung - maximal drei Jahre Für laufende Promotionsvorhaben jährliche inhaltliche und formale Prüfung Auf Antrag des/der Doktorierenden kann ersatzweise auch eine (Teil-) Finanzierung von Sachkosten erfolgen. Rückzahlungsklausel Max. 80% Anstellung 4

7 DBA One of a set of professional doctorates : EngD (Engineering Doctorate), DEd (Doctor of Education) Aimed at practitioners in industry, commerce, public service and college life Advances understanding by application of existing models in new situations rather than creating new models Typically contextualised in professional practice/ employment of candidate and makes use of data arising from that employment Examined component and thesis component Equally rigorous as a PhD and thesis examined in the same way 7

12 Progress Monitoring Senior supervisor reports on all candidates every two months Candidates self assess every quarter Intermediate thesis submission required to include literature review, synthesis, questions, methodology and pilot if applicable. 12

13 Examination Process identical to UK PhD Same essential criteria as PhD; emphasis on the contribution to professional practice EBS and FHNW / HSW Report on thesis and viva examination 13

14 DBA Research Committee Role is to oversee degree programme Meets every two months Reviews progress of all candidates in mentoring and supervision Reviews new proposals Reviews new intermediate thesis submissions Takes reports on progress of DBA examinations 14
