Deutsch gibt Perspektiven und Deutschland steht für Technologie, Design, Kreativität, für Qualität und Innovation. Die deutsche Sprache ist der Schlüssel zur deutschen Literatur, Musik, Philosophie und Wissenschaft. In Amerika lernen mehr als Personen Deutsch, in England und Holland sind es ca , in Polen mehr als 2 Millionen und in Frankreich mehr als eine Millionen. 10 B Deutschland hat viele Institutionen, die beim Lernen und Lehren der deutschen Sprache helfen. Das Goethe Institut ist ein Beispiel. Das Institut existiert seit Der Name Goethe kommt von einem bekannten deutschen Dichter, Naturforscher und Politiker ( ). Er hat viele Bücher geschrieben (zum Beispiel Faust ). Es gibt 149 Goethe Institute und 11 Büros in 77 Ländern. In England gibt es zwei Institute (in London und Manchester) und eins in Schottland, in Glasgow. In Deutschland sind natürlich sehr viele Institute. Sie sind in den neuen und alten Bundesländern z. B. in der Hauptstadt Berlin, in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, München, Leipzig und Dresden 15 C Die Goethe Institute organisieren viele Sprachkurse aber auch Kurse für Lehrer und Universitäten. Sie haben Bibliotheken und Informationszentren mit interessantem Material über die deutsche Kultur, die deutsche Literatur und deutsche Filme. Es gibt auch multimediale Materialien mit AV Medien. Ungefähr 206 Millionen Menschen haben 2008/09 an CONTINUED

3 GERMAN SYLLABUS A: LCGE6001 Page 3 Goethe Instituten Deutsch gelernt. Man kann Intensivkurse besuchen, wo man jeden Tag 20 Deutsch lernt, oder Deutschkurse über das ganze Jahr (einmal pro Woche). Die Kurse sind für viele Niveaus von A1 (Beginner) bis C2 (sehr gutes Deutsch). Die Studenten lernen Hören, Sprechen, Lesen und Schreiben. Es gibt auch spezielle Kurse für den Beruf D Das Goethe Institut nennt zehn Gründe, warum man Deutsch lernen sollte: 1. Deutschland ist das größte Exportland der Welt. 2. Deutsch ist die Sprache Nummer eins in der Europäischen Union (EU). 3. Deutschland produziert viele deutsche Bücher. 4. Viele internationale Firmen sind in Deutschland. 5. Deutsch ist nicht kompliziert. 6. Deutsch ist eine wichtige Sprache in der Wissenschaft (z.b. Physik, Medizin etc.). 7. Deutsch ist die Sprache von Goethe, Nietzsche und Kafka. Aber auch Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Freud und Einstein haben Deutsch gesprochen. 8. Wer Deutsch spricht, versteht die Kultur besser. 9. Deutsch ist gut für den Beruf. 10. In vielen Ländern kommen die meisten Touristen aus Deutschland E Das größte Goethe Institut ist in Berlin. Es ist in der Mitte des historischen Zentrums von Berlin. Das Institut ist von Montag bis Donnerstag von 8:30 18:30 Uhr und am Freitag von 8:30 17:00 Uhr geöffnet. Die Klassenräume sind modern und haben Computer und Internet. In den Gruppen sind meistens nicht mehr als zwanzig Studenten. Es gibt auch eine Cafeteria für die Studenten. Dort kann man etwas trinken und kleine Snacks essen. Das Berliner Institut hat auch eine Mediothek, ein Selbstlernzentrum, mit Bibliothek. Sie ist von Montag bis Freitag bis 20:00 Uhr und am Samstag von 13:00 bis 17:00 Uhr geöffnet. Fast 300 Personen arbeiten am Goethe Institut in Berlin. Sie sind in der Administration, sind Techniker und natürlich auch Deutschlehrer. Sie organisieren viele Exkursionen oder Freizeitaktivitäten für die vielen internationalen Studenten. Sie gehen ins Theater oder Kino und besuchen auch die vielen Museen in Berlin. Manchmal fahren sie mit den Studenten nach Potsdam. Sehr interessant ist auch, dass sie einen kostenlosen Online Service für internationale Brieffreundschaften organisieren. Studenten können Briefe an andere Studenten schreiben oder mit Hilfe von einem internationalen E Mail Projekt lernen. 4 GERMAN SYLLABUS A: LCGE6001 Page 4 Der Kurs am Goethe Institut ist toll alles ist sehr interessant und ich habe viel gelernt und viel in Berlin gesehen. Die Lehrer sind sehr freundlich und sprechen langsam. Ana Maria Fernandez Aubanell (19 Jahre) kommt aus Spanien und ist Studentin: Berlin ist eine wunderbare Stadt ich habe viele Freunde hier gefunden und ich habe mein 55 Deutsch verbessert und verstehe jetzt sehr viel. Ich habe jetzt auch einen Brieffreund. Er heißt Achim, ist 21 Jahre alt und kommt aus Potsdam. Er studiert Chemie an der Humboldt Universität und er spricht sehr gut Englisch, aber wir schreiben uns auf Deutsch. Alper Özdil (37 Jahre) kommt aus der Türkei er ist Ingenieur: Ich bin Ausländer und spreche nicht so gut Deutsch ich verstehe oft nicht, was jemand sagt. 60 Aber jetzt mache ich einen Deutschkurs und habe in zwei Wochen schon viel gelernt.
