3 IoT Scope IoT brings lots of scope for development of applications that are accessing and controlling devices across domains. Every people will deal with at least 20 devices in future. It is inevitable that every one will be pushed to use IoT in future. At present, Cloud is been used for data share, transactions and people s community. IoT can be fitted to any domain that are using cloud services. IoT Users/Community/Group trend likely to be set. 3

4 IoT Scope It SHALL support People to Machine and Machine to People communication Example: SmartHome It SHALL support Machine to Machine communication. Example: SCADA 4

5 IoT Scope Home Automation It is a automation of home appliances, household activity or house work. This can be control of lightings, power appliances(heater, Washing machine, Airconditioner and etc), door systems and security lock of gates. 5

6 IoT Scope Medical and Health Care System This system SHALL support monitoring of diseases, ad hoc diagnosis and providing prompt medical attention incases of accidents. 6

7 IoT Scope Industry Automation The system is controlling and monitoring the various processes of industry, high power machineries, water treatment and energy management. 7

8 IoT Scope Automobile Industry This system is controlling and monitoring the various parameters of vehicles using sensors and actuators. vehicle to vehicle communication, vehicle to infrastructure communication. 8

9 IoT Scope Environmental Monitoring Monitoring environmental factors such are air or water quality, atmospheric, flood, soil conditions and any other factor that effects eco system. Energy Management This system monitor and controls the energy consumption of electrical appliances It ensures effective way of consuming the energy. Based on collection of information it maintains the production and distribution of electricity. Smart Grid, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). Transport System Collection of information about transport facility which helps to control and monitor traffic flow on the road. 9

10 IoT Future Scope When think about scope, IoT has high scope in any domain Factors that SHALL majorly be considered in future Extensibility IoT application SHALL be extendable. In future, One system(iot application) can extend other system is possible. Which means, devices can communicate across domains/across systems Use case : Devices in SmartHome can respond to devices from other systems. Environmental sensor will sense environmental factors(weather, humidity, smoke, wind speed, flood, snow and etc...) from the region and that will be notified to SmartHome devices which will take a preventive actions. Example : Heater can react to environmental mood(snow, humidity). 10

13 IoT Future Scope Configuration and accessibility In order to support extendibility, IoT system should be designed to support configurable to access and communicate devices across the domains. Example1 : User might expect when his car reaches home gate has to opened automatically. IoT scopes and Criticisms Example2 : User might expect when his car moved away from home all lights has to turned off and all windows to be closed automatically. 13

Limited Protocols Does MQTT, CoAP and LWM2M protocols carry enough information? Does eclipse framework support to extend other protocol? Latency Network delay, response delay, network speed 17

18 IoT Criticisms Load Balancing Multiple request from multiple devices or devices from multiple domains to be addressed. Network constraints Network speed, type of network, network protocols to be addressed. No Common platform Need Common platform for all type of solutions and extendibility. 18
