4 Starting Point About 1.2 million tons of plastic packaging are collected by German households every year. Until now that plastic has been subject to mostly low-grade recycling. An interesting and innovative laser technology has been developed for the fine sorting of plastic. Parties involved in recycling, manufacturing and bottle-filling processes do not confer with each other. Mechanical recycling is ecologically superior to thermal recycling (incineration) Crude oil is a limited resource. The true vision for an effective mechanical cycle is lacking.

To improve the recyclability of our packaging: Caps/closures have to be removable -> detachable connections Labels have to be removable in flake-wash process -> e.g., use of water-soluble glue Color batches should be avoided or made environmentally friendly -> only transparent bottles The use of additives should be minimized -> as much as necessary
