Maintenance Certificate in Detail for VAR Scenario Goal The Maintenance Certificate ensures that only SAP customers with a valid maintenance contract can apply support packages. It prevents unauthorized use. Coverage: All SAP products based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and beyond (including SAP Business Suite 2005) Deployment of Maintenance Certificates: Channel Partner can set up automatic distribution of maintenance certificates to all end-customer s systems by SAP Solution Manager* End-customers can manually request a single maintenance certificate as a self-service in SAP Support Portal Validity: A Maintenance Certificate has a validity of 3 months Procedure: Maintenance Certificate is stored in SAP system license store (transaction: SLICENSE) SAP import tools (e.g. SPAM, SAINT, JSPM, ) check for valid Maintenance Certificate Import is stopped if no Maintenance Certificate is available * Requirement: SAP EarlyWatch Alert needs to be activated in end-customer s system SAP 2009 / Page 4

License Management Cockpit Distribute Maintenance Certificates to Customer s System Automatic distribution of maintenance certificates: License Management Cockpit provides automatic distribution of maintenance certificates per customer Maintain all end-customers system in SAP Solution Manager Activate SAP EarlyWatch Alert in each end-customer system SAP EarlyWatch Alert triggers a session which automatically pulls maintenance certificates from partner s SAP Solution Manager to end-customer s managed system Manual distribution of maintenance certificates per end-customer: If SAP EarlyWatch Alert is not activated in each end-customer system, you can distribute the maintenance certificates manually via License Management Cockpit Select specific end-customer number Choose Download Licenses to generate a download-file Save the download-file on your PC Send the file via email to the specific end-customer End-customer needs to apply/install the received maintenance certificate manually Multi-customer support Manage automatic distribution Download in bulk Filter SAP 2009 / Page 11
