K athai is the medieval European name for China. The name derives from the Liao Dynasty (907-1125 Kithan Dynasty). In English spelling, the term lives on as a name for a Hong Kong airline.

Marko Polo used this name to the adventure writer Rustichello da Pisa, during his Genoese captivity. Da Pisas manuscript was to make Marco Polo world famous. The Polos were dealers in China - in the Kathai business. If you know the stories, you know that it was not just about trade, Polo was also interested in culture, politics and much more. The Kathai Magazine would like to build on this tradition and report not only on economic topics but also on politics, culture, science... Our target group are people all over the world who speak German and interested in Chinese topics. Business & Commerce will continue to dominate the content of this magazine, but we will be tapping into other topics - including fashion, cooking recipes and travel. If you want to contribute, you are welcome - whether with your own articles or references to interesting topics. 2

3 The Kathai Magazine ( Magazine for German-Chinese cooperation ) is a completely in German held magazine, which is produced in Changxing. It contains about 80% business articles, about 10% politics and the rest magazine articles, such as food, fashion and many more... The aims of the magazine are information about China, the region, the German-Chinese economy, cultural exchange and, last but not least, community-building. German stands here as a synonym for all German-speaking countries or readers. Approximately 15% of our readers download the magazine from China, 34% from Germany, 5% from Austria and the rest from all over the world. Each magazine issue has one or two specifc featured topics eg. Labour shortage in China and EU or Clean Environment in China etc. Kathai provide also newsletters (once a month) and website articles (every week) and relevant news on a daily basis. 3

All placed data files shall have a resolution of 300 dpi on a 1:1 reproduction, on line graphics 600 1,200 dpi. On lower deviation of the indicated features, the print reproduction will be of minor value. All colors shall be defned in RGB (Online) AND(!) CMYK color space, in process colors according to the euro scale - for print.
