One or more script books. English German/German English dictionary. Guided notetaking sheet. The task Please ensure that you write your student number in the space provided on the front cover(s) of the script book(s) and on the guided notetaking sheet. You should respond to the task in the script book(s) provided. There are three parts to the task. Part 1: Reading Part 2: Listening Part 3: Reorganisation Refer to pages 2 and 3 for detailed instructions. You should respond to the task in GERMAN. At the end of the task Place all other used script books and the guided notetaking sheet inside the front cover of the first script book and hand them in. You may retain this task book. 2 GERM CAT 3 A 2 Specific instructions to students You will find specific instructions for the task together with one or two written passages in GERMAN on the following pages. The material is related in topic and may include visual material such as diagrams or tables. You may take notes at any time during the two hour writing period. Part 1: Reading (20 minutes) You will have twenty minutes to read the passage(s) and take notes, referring to a dictionary if you wish. Part 2: Listening (20 minutes) You will have twenty minutes, including two minutes of preparation time, to complete this part of the task.you should read the guided notetaking sheet provided before listening to the passage. Any notes written on this sheet should be submitted with your script book(s); credit may be given for information relevant to the task which is recorded there but not conveyed in the piece of writing produced to complete the task. Click on the blue words to hear a recorded passage in GERMAN which will add to the information provided in Part 1. The passage will involve at least two voices, one male and one female. Listen to the passage three times, with a pause of one minute between each playing. Part 3: Reorganisation (80 minutes) You will have eighty minutes to complete the task using the oral, written and, where included, the visual resources provided, notes made while reading and listening, and your dictionary. Use only information from the material provided to complete the task in approximately words.
3 3 GERM CAT 3 A AUFGABE Wir gratulieren! Sie sind Schüler/Schülerin am Max Planck Gymnasium in Neustadt, Deutschland, und repräsentieren Ihre Schule bei dem Internationalen Jugendforum Unsere Zukunft. Man erwartet von Ihnen, daß Sie Ihren Mitschülern und Mitschülerinnen vom Forum berichten, wenn Sie nach Neustadt zurückkehren. Schreiben Sie einen Artikel für die Schülerzeitung, indem Sie die Organisation, die Zwecke, die Themen und das Programm des Forums beschreiben. Sie haben Informationen über das Forum aus den folgenden Quellen: der Webseite, einer Graffitimauer in der Lobby des Kongreßzentrums und einem Radiointerview. Sie erwähnen fünf Hauptpunkte aus der Webseite und der Graffitimauer und fünf Punkte, die sich auf das Interview basieren. Sie fügen zwei weitere Punkte hinzu, indem Sie Informationen aus den verschiedenen Quellen kombinieren. You are a student at the Max Planck Gymnasium in Neustadt, Germany, and are representing your school at the international youth forum Unsere Zukunft. When you return to Neustadt you are expected to report back to fellow students about the forum. Write an article for the school newspaper in which you describe the organisation of the forum as well as its aims, topics and the program. You have information about the forum from the following sources: the web page, a graffiti wall in the lobby of the congress centre and a radio interview. You decide to include five main points from the web page and the graffiti wall and five main points based on the radio interview. You include two additional points by combining information from the different sources. Of course you will use only information from the resources you have collected. The article should be words. 4 GERM CAT 3 A 4 Part 1: Reading (20 minutes) You will have twenty minutes to read the passages and take notes, referring to a dictionary if you wish. Text 1: Web page DEUTSCHES MINISTERIUM FÜR JUGEND UND BILDUNG WEBSEITE (aktualisiert am 6. Juli 1997) HIER KLICKEN FÜR INTERNATIONALES JUGENDFORUM Das Jugendforum mit Ministerin Jutta Sperry zum Thema Unsere Zukunft findet im Juli in Berlin- Stobach statt. DIE KONFERENZ Die Konferenz wurde von der Bundesregierung in Zusammenarbeit mit der UN vorbereitet. Einen besonderen Akzent hat das Forum dadurch, daß die inhaltliche Gestaltung und die Beteiligung an Arbeitsgruppen und Plenen vor allem von Schülern und Schülerinnen getragen werden. Sie setzen damit zugleich auch das Thema der Veranstaltung in die Tat um: Die Zukunft - unsere Ängste und Hoffnungen. Erwachsene - Eltern, Lehrer, Schulleitung und Ministerium - spielen im Forum nur eine Nebenrolle. Schüler werden während der Konferenz intensiv zusammenarbeiten, und Arbeitsgruppen werden voraussichtlich Thesen und Fragen ihrer idealen Zukunft an die Ministerin formulieren. Die Jugendlichen sollen auch viel dabei lernen, was natürlich wichtig ist, damit sie sich besser ausdrücken können. Deshalb werden zwei Gastsprecher relevante Vorträge halten. Der Techno- und Spielpädagoge Herr Manfred Könner spricht über das Thema Technologie Hinweise und Tips für einen sinnvollen Umgang. Anschließend findet eine Rede von Frau Ulli Pielsticker, Mitarbeiterin des Evangelischen Jugendwerks in Thiess-Bonn, statt. Thema für ihre Rede ist Zukunft der Bildung, Schule der Zukunft. TEILNEHMER Es wird vorausgesehen, daß etwa 400 Schüler und Schülerinnen am Forum teilnehmen werden. Die Teilnehmer müssen mindestens vierzehn und nicht älter als achtzehn Jahre alt sein, damit intensive Diskussionen ausgelöst werden. THEMEN Relevante Themen sind aus Statements von den Schulen aller Länder in einer Umfrage gesammelt worden. Diese wurden als die passenden und wichtigen Themen zur Zukunft ausgewählt. ZIEL Zweck des Forums, laut der Ministerin, ist Kommunikation zwischen Jugendlichen der ganzen Welt zu fördern. Frau Sperry möchte durch die Konferenz ein besseres Verständnis zum Thema Zukunft schaffen. Die Ministerin hofft darauf, daß die einzelnen Ergebnisse der Gruppen und auch die abschließenden Diskussionen deutlich machen werden, daß die heutige Jugend eine immer aktivere Rolle spielen kann und muß.
