UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS International General Certificate of Secondary Education MARK SCHEME for the June 2005 question paper 0505 FIRST LANGUAGE GERMAN 0505/03 Paper 3 (Continuous Writing), maximum mark 40 These mark schemes are published as an aid to teachers and students, to indicate the requirements of the examination. They show the basis on which Examiners were initially instructed to award marks. They do not indicate the details of the discussions that took place at an Examiners meeting before marking began. Any substantial changes to the mark scheme that arose from these discussions will be recorded in the published Report on the Examination. All Examiners are instructed that alternative correct answers and unexpected approaches in candidates scripts must be given marks that fairly reflect the relevant knowledge and skills demonstrated. Mark schemes must be read in conjunction with the question papers and the Report on the Examination. CIE will not enter into discussion or correspondence in connection with these mark schemes. CIE is publishing the mark schemes for the June 2005 question papers for most IGCSE and GCE Advanced Level and Advanced Subsidiary Level syllabuses and some Ordinary Level syllabuses

Grade thresholds for Syllabus 0505 (First Language German) in the June 2005 examination. maximum mark available minimum mark required for grade: A C E F Component 3 40 35 25 15 13 The threshold (minimum mark) for D is set halfway between those for Grades C and E. The threshold (minimum mark) for G is set as many marks below the F threshold as the E threshold is above it. Grade A* does not exist at the level of an individual component.

Vokabular: Vielseitigkeit, Verhältnis von einfachen und anspruchsvollen Wörtern; Verwendung von Attributen, Adverbien, Verben, Partizipial-Konstruktionen anstatt unnötig langen Sätzen; Rechtschreibung, Interpunktion. Syntax: Abwechslung; Komplexität der Sätze; Verhältnis von langen und kurzen Sätzen; Beherrschen verschiedener Satztypen und ihre Verwendung als Stilmittel (z.b. Fragen, Ausrufe, Verneinung). Aufbau: Gliederung, Anfang, Hauptteil und Schluss; logische Aufteilung in Abschnitte und deren Zusammenhang; Kohärenz der Sätze; Verständlichkeit und Logik der Aussage. Page 2 Mark Scheme Syllabus Paper IGCSE - JUNE 2005 0505 3 1-6 G: Aussage unklar, arm an Ideen, sehr einfache und fehlerhafte Sprache und Vokabular; schwache Rechtschreibung, repetitive Satzstrukturen; viele Wiederholungen. 7-11 F: Vermittlung einer Aussage trotz einfacher und sehr fehlerhafter Sprache, wenige Ideen, schwache Argumentationskraft; unstrukturiert. 12-16 E: Verständliche Vermittlung einiger Ideen; flüssig, aber einfacher und repetitiver Satzbau mit enfachem Alltagsvokabular, ansatzweise aufgebaut; viele Grammatik - und Rechtschreibfehler. 17-21 D: Einige Ideen und Argumente in flüssiger, teilweise noch etwas einfacher oder umständlicher Sprache vermittelt; zum Teil zu langwierig, inhaltlich repetitiv; einige Fehler; Aufbau und innere Kohärenz vorhanden, wenn auch nicht durchgehend. 22-27 C: Interessante Aussage; die meisten Argumente und inhaltlichen Ideen sind klar und teilweise detailliert ausgeführt; Aufbau fast immer gut, Vokabular und Satzbau sind anspruchsvoll, wenn auch nicht durchgehend; manchmal noch etwas langwierig oder zu wortreich. 28-33 B: Guter, abwechslungsreicher Stil mit flussig und gewandter sprachlichen Darstellung und dem Thema angepasst; bewusster Aufbau, einige Detaillierung und Originalität der Aussage. 34-40 A: Originelle, sehr gut präsentierte Themenbehandlung; Informationsreichtum; Abwechslung und Kreativatät in Syntax und Vokabular, klare Aussage; detaillierte Ausführungen ohne unnötigen Längen; innere Kohärenz und Aufbau mit logischem Anfang und Schluss; keine nennenswerten Fehler.
