1. Read the text to find out which of the statements below are true or false. Mark the correct answer. Prince My name is Prince Prince like the son of the king. But I don t live in a castle, I live with Janet Barton. I m not her brother or her son, I m her dog. But I m not a normal dog. Like every dog I like playing, jumping, barking and, of course, eating yummie dog food. But I don t have so much time for enjoying my dog life. I m Janet Barton s helper and I must help her in many situations because Janet is nearly blind. She can t see what other people see, so I m there to guide her, warn her, lead her when she is outside her house and I even go shopping for her. It s not easy to become a dog for blind people. I went to a dog school and had special training. I learnt to open doors, to take things to people, to walk next to them in the streets and to stop at a street before crossing it when the lights are red or a car is coming. It is hard work for a dog. I really like going shopping. In the street where we live there is a nice little shop. They all know me and I know them. When Janet doesn t feel good and can t go shopping herself, she rings the shop owner and tells him what she needs. Then she gives me a shopping basket 1 and puts some money in it. I can really carry a basket in my teeth and I know the way to the shop very well. The shop owner is very nice and there is always a sausage for me in the basket when I return home. You see, being a dog for the blind is not so bad at all. a) Prince is a blind dog. b) Prince likes doing the same things as every dog. c) Janet needs his help. d) Janet trained Prince at home. e) Janet tells Prince what she needs from the shop. f) Prince always gets something nice to eat from the shop owner. true false 6 1 basket = Korb Seite 2 von 6
