Für die Beleuchtung von Waren bedeutet das: Wenn man Kunstlicht spektren technisch beeinflussen kann, lässt sich die Wahrnehmung bestimmter produkttypischer Farbtöne in einem erstaunlich weiten Bereich verändern. Je nach Beleuchtung erscheint das Rot des Apfels wärmer oder kühler, mehr oder weniger gesättigt. Die Kunst der eigenfarboptimierten Warenbeleuchtung ist es, für unterschiedliche Anwendungen jeweils maßgeschneiderte Lichtspektren zu verwenden. Eine Kunst, in der BÄRO seit vielen Jahren Vorreiter ist. Für eine der populärsten Anwendungen von eigenfarboptimiertem Licht, die Beleuchtung von frischen Fleisch- und Wurstwaren, nutzte BÄRO bereits vor rund 50 Jahren PAR-Lampen mit speziellen Beschichtungen und später Hochdruck-Entladungslampen mit speziellen Glasfiltern, die definierte Spektralanteile zurückhielten. Dieses SpecialMeat -Licht optimierte die Rot- und Rosatöne der Ware, sodass diese deutlich besser zur Geltung kamen als unter der damals üblichen Standardbeleuchtung mit einfachen Leuchtstofflampen. Schon diese Pionier-Anwendung zeigt, dass eigenfarboptimierte Beleuchtung immer auch eine Gratwanderung darstellt: Auf der einen Seite wünschen sich Händler und Kunden eine einladende Präsentation der Ware, auf der anderen Seite darf diese nie ins Verfälschen oder Maskieren kippen eine Frage des Fingerspitzengefühls und der Erfahrung, die sich BÄRO über viele Jahre erarbeitet hat. Inzwischen sind Lampen und Filter weitgehend Geschichte BÄRO entwickelt mittlerweile ausschließlich LED-Leuchten und verfügt über Methoden, auch mit dieser Technologie eigenfarboptimierte Lichtspektren zu erzeugen. Die Voraussetzungen dafür sind gut, denn die LED-Technik bietet eine Vielzahl von Ansatzpunkten, um Lichtspektren zu definieren. Grundsätzlich erzeugen die gängigen weißen LEDs zunächst blaues Licht, das durch eine Leuchtstoffschicht zum Teil in andere Wellenlängen umgesetzt wird. In der Mischung entsteht weißes Licht. Die Auswahl der Halbleiter materialien, die Zusammensetzung der Leuchtstoffe und gegebenenfalls die Kombi nation mit farbigen LEDs resultieren in Spektren nach Maß. BÄRO arbeitet eng mit Technologiepartnern zusammen, um seinen Kunden eine umfangreiche und an indivi duellen Bedürfnissen orientierte Palette an Standardund Speziallichtfarben anzubieten. Unter Standardlichtfarben versteht BÄRO die Weißtöne, die sich am sogenannten Plank schen Kurvenzug orientieren und in den gängigen Angaben mit Lichtfarb nummern oder der Farbtemperatur in Kelvin bezeichnet werden. Schon hier ist das An gebot von BÄRO differenzierter als üblich: Es reicht von Warmweiß (2.700 K) über 3.000 K und 3.500 K bis zu Neutralweiß (4.000 K). Der Kunde hat die Wahl zwischen einer sehr guten Farbwiedergabequalität mit R(a) > 90 oder einer etwas höheren Lichtausbeute bei immer noch guter Farbwieder gabequalität R(a) > 80 als besonders effiziente Lösung in unkritischen Anwendungen. Zu diesen Standardlichtfarben kommen die Speziallichtfarben hinzu: LED-Module, deren Spektren und Farborte sich nicht am Planck schen Kurvenzug orientieren. Sie lassen sich nicht mit standardisierten Angaben zu Farbtemperatur und Farbwiedergabe-Index definieren, sondern über ihre jeweilige Anwendung in der Praxis. Neben erprobten Klassikern wie SpecialMeat für Wurst- und Fleischwaren oder Sun für Obst und Gemüse erforscht BÄRO kontinuierlich neue Speziallichtfarben, die aktuellen Technologien und Bedürfnissen im Markt Rechnung tragen. 17

In the right light SPECIAL LIGHT COLOURS Light that optimises the natural colours of products is one of the most effective, but also one of the most sophisticated tools of retail lighting. Thanks to decades of experience, BÄRO has the corresponding products, technologies and the necessary expertise. Light creates an atmosphere and it supports the sales-promoting presentation of all kinds of products. From fresh foodstuffs to non-food products, fashion and leisure goods lighting with a coordinated spectral composition can render the colour, material and surface properties of products in a way that showcases them and makes the best possible impression on customers. Successful salespromoting lighting therefore deliberately engages with expectations and visual habits and evokes positive associations. For example, you see a ripe red apple in the fruit display. Its colour impression depends on several factors at this moment: an artificial light source illuminates the apple with white light with a certain spectral composition, which rarely corresponds to the continuous spectrum of sunlight. On the other hand the surface of the apple absorbs part of this light spectrum while reflecting other components of the light. These catch the eye, where sensory cells measure the blue, green and red components of the light and convey them to the visual centre of the brain: ultimately, a subjective colour impression is created. As not the whole spectrum, but only three selective colour bands are measured and processed by the brain, the metamerism phenomenon occurs: light with a different composition can produce the same colour impression for the viewer and body colours that looked the same under certain lighting may differ greatly under different light. For product illumination this means: if artificial light spectrums can be technically influenced, the perception of certain colour shades typical to products can be changed in a surprisingly wide range. Depending on the lighting, the red of the apple can appear warmer or cooler, more or less saturated. The art of product lighting that optimises the products owncolours is to use light spectrums tailored to different applications. BÄRO has been a trailblazer in this art for many years. As far back as 50 years ago BÄRO used PAR lamps with special coatings and laterhigh- pressure discharge lamps with special glass filters holding back defined spectral components for one of the most popular applications for light optimising natural colours: the illumination of fresh meat and cold cuts. This SpecialMeat light optimised the red and pink colours of the products so that they were shown to much better advantage than under the simple fluorescent lamps that were standard at that time. Even this pioneering applicationshows that lighting that optimises the inherent colours of products is always a balancing act: on the one hand retaiersand customers want an inviting product presentation, but on the other hand this must nevercross the line into falsifying or masking the products a question of sensitivity and experience which BÄRO has acquired over many years. Lamps and filters are now largely a thing of the past BÄRO now exclusively develops LED luminaires and also has methods for using this technologyto produce light spectrums that optimise the natural colours of products.
