2 EN 50618:2013 Erläuterungen zum Entwurf Der von CENELEC TC 20 ausgearbeitete Entwurf zu einer Europäischen Norm EN 50618:2013 wurde den CENELEC-Mitgliedern zur Abstimmung vorgelegt. Im Falle eines positiven Abstimmungsergebnisses im Sinne der CEN/CENELEC-Regeln wird dieser Entwurf zu einer EN führen. Wie alle Mitgliedsorganisationen von CENELEC ist der OVE grundsätzlich verpflichtet, Europäische Normen in das nationale Normenwerk zu übernehmen und entgegenstehende Normen zurückzuziehen. Der OVE legt hiermit diesen Entwurf eines europäischen Normungsdokumentes der Öffentlichkeit zur Information und Stellungnahme als ÖVE/ÖNORM-Entwurf vor. Da eine Übersetzung in die deutsche Sprache zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht vorhanden ist, wird um die von CENELEC vorgegebene Einspruchsfrist einzuhalten die englischsprachige Fassung der pren 50618:2013 zur Information und Stellungnahme vorgelegt. Interessenten können das gegenständliche Dokument beim Österreichischen Verband für Elektrotechnik beziehen bzw. in den Text Einsicht nehmen. 2

7 49 Introduction This standard specifies cables for use in Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, in particular for installation at the Direct Current (DC) side. These cables are suitable for permanent outdoor use for many years under variable demanding climate conditions. Relatively stringent requirements are set for these products in line with the expected harsh usage conditions. During the writing of this standard the joint work of TC 64 (Electrical installations and protection against electric shock) and TC 82 (Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems) on the design and installation of PV systems has been taken into account. 5

8 Scope These requirements apply to low smoke halogen-free, flexible, single-core power cables with crosslinked insulation and sheath. In particular for use at the direct current (DC) side of photovoltaicsystems, with a nominal DC voltage up to 1,5 kv between conductors and between conductor and earth. The cables are suitable to be used with Class II equipment. The cables are designed to operate at a normal maximum conductor temperature of 90 C, but for a maximum of hrs. a max. conductor temperature of 120 C at a max. ambient temperature of 90 C is permitted. The cables have a rated voltage of 1,0/1,0 kv when used in alternating current (AC) systems. Annex A provides further guidance on voltage ratings. 5 Requirements for the construction of cables 5.1 Conductors Material The conductors shall be copper, and in accordance with EN The wires of conductors shall be tin coated. The wires shall be covered with a continuous layer of tin coating. 7
