2 Freude schöner Götterfunken Freude schöner Götterfunken Die Audio Physic Spark durchlief im Laufe nahezu zweier Jahrzehnte zahlreiche Veränderungen. Dabei zählte nicht ein bestimmtes Designkonzept als vielmehr eine spezielle Aufgabe: Die Spark sollte immer an der Spitze ihrer Klasse stehen. So begann ihre Karriere als Zwei- Wege-Regalbox, die bald zur Standbox heranwuchs und statt zwei über zweieinhalb Wege verfügte. Damit erreichte die Spark eine ungewöhnliche Reife, an der es wenig zu verbessern gab. So zeigt die jüngste Version des Erfolgsmodells auf den ersten Blick viele Parallelen zum erfolgreichen Vorgänger auf, bei genauer Betrachtung fällt jedoch auf, dass die Modifikationen sämtliche Bereiche betreffen. So führt die umfangreiche Modellpflege zu deutlich hörbaren Fortschritten in allen Disziplinen. Die Spark des Jahrgangs 2005 klingt nicht nur dynamischer und verfärbungsärmer. Sie begeistert ebenfalls durch einen präziseren Fokus und eine besonders transparente, plastische Abbildung des Hörgeschehens. Keine Frage, die Spark zündet in ihrer aktuellen Ausbaustufe ein Feuerwerk für die Sinne: Sie sieht betörend gut aus und erfüllt auch klanglich vorbildlich die Ansprüche der hochauflösenden digitalen Tonträger wie SACD oder DVD- Audio. Ganz gleich, ob Sie auf optimalen Stereo- oder Mehrkanal- Ton stehen, bei der neuen Spark springt garantiert der entscheidende Funke über. Rund-Erneuerung: Das Gehäuse glänzt mit neuem Schwung Das schlanke, leicht nach hinten geneigte Gehäuse mit rückseitiger Bass-Reflex-Öffnung blieb zwar in seinen Proportionen erhalten, doch verfügt es jetzt mit seinen sanft gerundeten Flanken über den gleichen Schick und die besonders hohe Immunität gegen Gehäuseresonanzen, die schon die überarbeitete Tempo auszeichnen. Weil die Seitenwände nicht mehr parallel zu einander stehen, können sich keine stehenden Wellen im Gehäuse bilden. Aufwendige Verstrebungen, die das Innere in kleine Sektionen aufteilen tragen ein übriges zur Schwingungsarmut bei. Gegen Resonanzen, die zwischen Gehäuse und dem Boden ausbilden können, helfen die neuen Metallfüße, die sich bereits unter der Tempo und verschiedenen anderen Modellen des Audio- Physic-Programms bewährt haben. Sie sorgen nicht nur für sicheres, sondern auch formschönes Auftreten und lassen sich bequem von oben in der Höhe justieren. Auf der Rückseite der, in zeitgemäßen Farbtönen wie hellem und dunklem Ahorn, Kirschbaum und Rosenholz (auf Anfrage) lieferbaren Gehäuse kommt eine weitere Neuerung aus der Oberklasse zum Einsatz: Das aus Aluminium gefertigte Anschlussfeld mit seinen soliden Schraubklemmen ruht in einem dämpfenden Rahmen aus Neopren. Die Ausbreitung störender Vibrationen über die Lautsprecherkabel wird durch diese Maßnahme effizient unterdrückt. Ein optisch eher unscheinbares Detail mit deutlich hörbarem Klanggewinn.

3 Treiber-Geschichten: Neue Chassis für mehr Drive Entwickler Manfred Diestertich sorgte auch bei den Chassis für zahlreiche Verbesserungen. So setzt er im Hochtonbereich auf den besonders natürlich klingenden Kalottenhochtöner der größeren Schwester namens Tempo. Zudem bringt Audio Physic neue Tief- und Tief-Mitteltöner zum Einsatz. In deren Aluminium-Gusskörben sitzen neue 15-cm-Membranen aus beschichtetem Papier, deren Form für optimales Abstrahlverhalten und höchste Steifigkeit eine deutlich sichtbare Überarbeitung erfuhr. Den größten Fortschritt erzielte die Weiterentwicklung im Verborgenen: Die Schwingspulenträger bestehen nicht länger aus Aluminium. Dieser Werkstoff erfüllt zwar hohe Ansprüche an Steifigkeit und Wärmeableitung, doch bremst er die Schwingspulenbewegung durch seine elektrische Leitfähigkeit. Deshalb kommt neuerdings ein glasfaserverstärkter Spulenträger zum Einsatz, der ohne eingebaute Wirbelstrombremse arbeiten darf. Die Spark geht jetzt noch leichtfüßiger und detailreicher zur Sache. Unterhalb von 500 Hertz ergänzt der optisch identische untere Tieftöner mit seiner vierlagig gewickelten Schwingspule den bis 2600 Hz arbeitenden Tiefmitteltöner. 4 Joy, thou shining spark of God Over the past twenty years, the Audio Physic Spark has been subjected to a number of changes. These changes were not due to a particular design concept but to a much more ambitious task: The Spark has always been designed to perform at the top of its class. This is how the sound career of the two-way bookshelf loudspeaker began and the Spark soon received an immense career boost when it was developed into a floorstanding loudspeaker featuring a two-and-a-half-way system. In fact, the Spark reached a peak of maturity where continuous improvement is no longer possible. At first sight, the most recent Spark model shares many parallels with the successful predecessor. However, a closer look reveals that modifications have been incorporated in all areas. It can be safely said that Audio Physic's utmost care in design has culminated in an audible progress in all disciplines. The Spark of the year 2005 not only produces a more dynamic and less coloured sound, it also achieves a high degree of clarity and focus as well as an incredibly transparent and truly dimensional sound image. Refitted with a new spark - the new shape of the cabinet The original proportions of the slim and slightly angled cabinet with its back panel bass reflex port have not been changed but the shape has been revised. Due to the graceful design with its softly rounded cabinet sides, the Spark is a visual stunner tuned for optimum elimination of standing waves here the Spark shares the same qualities with the redeveloped Tempo loudspeaker. The cabinet sides are not parallel to each other and therefore the possibility of standing waves is completely eliminated. The cabinet is generously fitted with structural elements that divide the interior into smaller sections and also contribute to the elimination of standing waves. The Spark comes with metal stands - the same well-approved stands which the Tempo and other Audio Physic loudspeakers are equipped with designed to effectively avoid the building of resonances between cabinet and floor. The attractive metal stands, easily adjustable from above, not only ensure that your loudspeakers are placed firmly on the floor, but they also add an elegant finishing touch to your system. The back panel of the cabinet which is fabricated in modern veneers such as light and dark maple, cherry and rosenut (on request) features yet another innovation inspired by the top-class range of Audio Physic loudspeakers. The new connecting terminal is made of aluminium and fitted with massive screws as well as with a neoprene frame for dampening. This is how the adverse effect of uncontrolled vibrations transmitted via the loudspeaker cables can be avoided. Just a

5 minor detail from a visual point of view, but a major advance in terms of sonic performance. Driver history - a new design with plenty of drive and punch Chief designer Manfred Diestertich was again the mastermind behind the many improvements which are apparent in the drivers. With regard to the tweeter system, Diestertich incorporated an advanced soft dome tweeter to offer the same amazingly natural sound production which was already achieved in an older member of the Audio Physic family, the Tempo. The new woofer and woofer/midrange drivers Audio Physic is currently using also deserve a special mention: The die-cast aluminium baskets are fitted with new 6 (15cm) cones made of damped paper the form of which was completely redesigned so as to ensure an optimum radiation pattern and extreme rigidity. However the largest progress was achieved with a development not visible to the eye: The voice coil formers are no longer made of aluminium. Inasmuch as this material meets the highest demands in terms of rigidity and heat conduction, it also slows the movement of the voice coil due to its inherent electrical conductivity. Of late, Audio Physic has decided to use a coil former that is reinforced by fibre glass and does not require the implementation of an eddy current brake. As a result, you can expect your sound to be more airy, more transparent and more detailed with the Spark. Below 500 Hertz, the optically identical woofer takes over from the woofer/midrange driver which features a four-layer voice coil and operates up to 2600 Hz.
