1 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC (BOX-BMWIBAVDC + CON-BMWIBCD) Passend für BMW 3er (E46), 5er (E39), X3 (E83), X5 (E53), Z4 (E85) Nur für Fahrzeuge mit Navigationssystem PROFESSIONAL Bei vorhandenem original TV-Tuner muss dieser deinstalliert werden. Die Installation sollte ausschließlich von einer geschulten Fachkraft durchgeführt werden! Lesen Sie vor dem Einbau diese Anleitung sorgfältig durch! Das Interface ist für 12 Volt ausgelegt! Durch Softwareupdates des Fahrzeugherstellers (diese werden teilweise beim Service der Niederlassungen und Händler vorgenommen) kann die Funktionsfähigkeit dieses Interface eingeschränkt/aufgehoben werden. Für diesen Fall bieten wir bis ein Jahr nach Kauf des Interfaces ein kostenloses Softwareupdate an. Das Interface muss frei eingeschickt werden. Kosten für Ein- und Ausbau auch im Reklamationsfall werden nicht erstattet. Vor der Installation die Zündung abschalten und Fahrzeugbatterie abklemmen, ansonsten initialisiert sich das Interface nicht! Seite 1 von 9

2 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Produktbeschreibung Dieses Interface ermöglicht den Anschluss einer beliebigen externen AV-Quelle (z.b. DVD-Player, DVB-T Tuner) an das BMW Navigationssystem Professional (E46, E38, E39, E53, E83, E85) und die Steuerung zwei AV-Quellen über die Tasten der Navigation und das Multifunktionslenkrad. Beim Anschluss von zwei AV-Quellen muss eine der AV-Quellen einen AV-Eingang haben. Die AV-Quelle mit dem AV- Eingang wird mit seinem AV-Ausgang mit dem Interface verbunden und der AV- Eingang wird mit dem AV-Ausgang der zweiten AV-Quelle verbunden. Es werden die TV-Normen PAL und NTSC unterstützt, die AV-Quellen sollten jedoch alle FEST auf eine Norm eingestellt werden. Einbauort Das Interface wird am Radiomodul und am Navigationsrechner angeschlossen. Radiomodul und Navigationsrechner befinden sich bei 3er (E46), 5er (E39) und 7er (E38) im Heck auf der linken Seite (beim 7er ist das Radiomodul hinter einer Verkleidung im Kotflügel) Das Radiomodul des BMW X5 (E53) ist unterhalb der Kofferraumverkleidung neben der Batterie zu finden. Der Navigationsrechner befindet sich links hinter der Kofferraumverkleidung. Einbau Video am Navigationsrechner Warten bis der Navigationsrechner runter gefahren ist und dann die Batterie abklemmen Blaue 18-Pin Buchse aus dem Navigationsrechner abstecken und diese mit dem Gegenstück des Interface-Kabelsatzes verbinden. Am Interface-Kabelsatz montierte 18-Pin Buchse mit dem Navigationsrechner verbinden. Seite 2 von 9

3 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Einbau Audio am Radiomodul Sonderfall, Fahrzeuge mit Werks-DSP-Verstärker Hat das Fahrzeug einen Werks-DSP-Verstärker, so besteht die Möglichkeit, dass der CD-Wechsler Anschluss am Radio-Modul nicht funktioniert und stattdessen der Ton über den digitalen Eingang (44.1khz) am Werks-DSP-Verstärker eingespeist werden muss. Dafür wird ein Analog-Digital-Wandler benötigt oder ein digitaler Ausgang des/der Endgeräte(s) mit 44.1khz. In diesem Fall die folgenden Beschreibungen für den Anschluss am Radio-Modul überspringen. Ist der Werks-CD-Wechsler vorhanden, so lässt sich schon vor der Installation überprüfen, ob der dieser mit dem Werks-DSP-Verstärker über ein digitales Koaxialkabel verbunden ist. Ist kein Werks-CD-Wechsler vorhanden kann zunächst überprüft werden, ob der Werks-DSP-Verstärker überhaupt einen digitalen Anschluss (SMB) hat. Sollte dieser vorhanden sein kann nur über probieren herausgefunden werden, ob der CD-Wechsler Anschluss am Radio-Modul oder der digitale Eingang am Werks-DSP-Verstärker aktiv ist. Radio-Modul mit Quadlock Anschluss und vorhandenem original Werks-CD-Wechsler Am Radiomodul angeschlossene Quadlockbuchse lösen. weiße 12-Pin Buchse aus der Kammer A der Quadlockbuchse lösen. Fahrzeug 12-Pin Buchse Einsatz aus der Plastikkappe der 12-Pin Buchse seitlich herausschieben. Fahrzeug 12-Pin Buchse An der demontierten Fahrzeug 12-Pin Buchse das passende Gegenstück des Interface-Kabelsatzes anschließen. Dabei ist zu beachten, dass die Pfeile auf 12-Pin Stecker und 12-Pin Buchse auf der gleichen Seite sind und in die jeweils entgegen gesetzte Richtung zeigen. Interface 12-Pin Stecker Fahrzeug 12-Pin Buchse Weiße Plastikkappe auf die 12-Pin Buchse des Interface-Kabelsatzes schieben und in die Quadlockbuchse einstecken. 4 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Radio-Modul mit Quadlock Anschluss und NICHT vorhandenem original BMW CD Wechsler Einbau analog zu vorhandenem Werks-CD-Wechsler, wobei es keine 12-Pin Buchse des Fahrzeugkabelbaumes gibt. Den 12-Pin Stecker Interface Kabelsatzes wird nicht genutzt und isoliert. Radio-Modul mit Rund-Pin Anschluss und vorhandenem original Werks-CD-Wechsler Audio-Kabel vom Interface-Kabelsatz trennen und aus 12-Pin Buchse und 12-Pin Stecker auspinnen. Rund-Pin Buchse vom Radio-Modul lösen. 10-Pin CD-Wechsler Buchse des Fahrzeugkabelbaumes aus Rund-Pin Buchse lösen. Die weiblichen Pins des Interface Audio-Kabels in die 10-Pin CD-Wechsler Buchse einpinnen und die die dort vorhandenen weiblichen Pins mit den männlichen des Interface Audio-Kabels verbinden und isolieren. Dabei zu verwendende Belegung: Interface Pin an Audio-Kabel 10-Pin Buchse Rot Pin 2 Weiß Pin 1 Schwarz Pin 6 10-Pin CD-Wechsler Buchse in Rund-Pin Buchse stecken und diese am Radio-Modul anschließen. Radio-Modul mit Rund-Pin Anschluss und NICHT vorhandenem original Werks-CD-Wechsler Einbau analog zu vorhandenem Werks-CD-Wechsler, wobei es keine 10-Pin Buchse des Fahrzeugkabelbaumes gibt. Den 12-Pin Buchseneinsatz um 2 Kammern kürzen (vorher alle vorhandenen Pins entfernen), die weiblichen Pins des Interface Audio- Kabels entsprechend der o.g. Belegung in die gekürzte Buchse einpinnen. Die männlichen Pins des Interface Audio-Kabels werden nicht genutzt und isoliert. Rund-Pin Buchse am Radio-Modul anschließen. Auf 10 Pins gekürzte Interface Buchse am CD-Wechsler Port anschließen und dabei auf darauf achten, das die Belegung der Buchse die richtigen Pins des Radio-Moduls trifft. Buchse arretieren um späteres Verrutschen zu verhindern. Seite 4 von 9

5 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Einbau Video Kabel und Steuerkabel An der 3-Pin AMP Buchse die AV-Quelle(n) mit den IR-Steuerkabeln verbinden (siehe Gerätesteuerung). AV-Ausgang der ersten AV-Quelle mit dem AV-Eingang des Interface mit Chinch-Kabeln verbinden (nicht im Lieferumfang). Einstellungsmenü des Interface Bevor das Interface genutzt werden kann müssen einige Einstellungen im Einstellungsmenü des Interface vorgenommen werden. Das Einstellungsmenü kann über den Bordmonitor aufgerufen werden. Einstellungsmenü aufrufen Durch 3-maliges Drücken der "MENU" Taste wird das Einstellungsmenü (VI SETTINGS) des Interfaces aufgerufen. Mit dem rechten Drehknopf können Änderungen innerhalb des Einstellungsmenüs vorgenommen werden. Durch 1x drücken der "MENU" Taste wird das Einstellungsmenü verlassen. Audioeinstellungen Audioeinstellung auf "CD" stellen. Bei vorhandenem Werks-CD-Wechsler auf "CD EMU OFF" stellen und bei nicht vorhandenem Werks-CD-Wechsler auf "CD EMU ON" stellen Rückfahrkamerafunktion Soll die Rückfahrkamerafunktion des Interface Genutzt werden auf "RVC: ON" stellen. In diesen Modus erfolgt beim einlegen des Rückwärtsgangs eine automatische Aktivierung des Videoeingangs am Interface. Seite 5 von 9

6 Einbauanleitung IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version ab SW Auswahl der zu steuernden Geräte Das Interface hat zwei Gerätesteuerungsebenen. Auf jeder Ebene kann ein Gerät aus der Gerätesteuerungstabelle fest voreingestellt werden. Im Zur Auswahl der Geräte zunächst die entsprechenden Steuerkanalnummern aus der Gerätesteuerungstabelle entnehmen. Diese in den Gerätesteuerungsebenen CH1 und CH2 hinterlegen. Bildeinstellungen Das Interface hat einen eigenen Bildeinstellungsmodus. Um in diesen zu gelangen, auf "Video Set:ON" stellen. Einstellungsmenü verlassen und Interface aktivieren als aktuelle AV-Quelle (s.u.). Die Tasten "1 <> 4", "2 <> 5", "3 <> 6" zur Änderung der Bildwerte durch kurzes Drücken verwenden Zum Verlassen des Bildeinstellungsmodus das Einstellungsmenu aufrufen und auf "Video Set:OFF" stellen. Bei Zündung aus wird der Bildeinstellungsmodus automatisch verlassen. Kontrast Farbsättigung Helligkeit - + Aktivierung des Interface als aktuelle AV-Quelle Die Aktivierung der Video/Audio Funktion des Interfaces erfolgt durch Drücken (je nach aktuellem Modus mehrmalig) der MODE-Taste. Sollte das System sich selbständig nach paar Sekunden von Interface-Video in den Hauptmenü umschalten, einmal die "Umschalttaste" betätigen. Gerätesteuerung Mit dem Interface können bis zu zwei Geräte gesteuert werden. Die steuerbaren Geräte sind in der Gerätesteuerungstabelle aufgeführt. Für jedes der Geräte wird das passende gesondert zu bestellende IR-Steuerkabel CABI2-xxx benötigt (siehe Gerätesteuerungstabelle). Sollen zwei Geräte gesteuert werden, so wird zusätzlich das Y-Kabel CABI2-Y3P benötigt (Stecker auf zwei Buchsen). Dieses wird in die 3-Pin AMP-Buchse des Interface-Kabelsatzes gesteckt. Der 3-Pin AMP-Stecker wird in den Interfacekabelsatz, die jeweils andere Seite des IR- Steuerkabels wird in den IR-Port des entsprechenden Gerätes gesteckt. Zusätzliche Installation des geräteeigenen IR-Sensors Über die Gerätesteuerung können an der Navi die wichtigsten Funktionen der Geräte bedient werden. Einige Funktionen sind nicht nutzbar, da die Anzahl der für die Gerätesteuerung verfügbaren Tasten auf der Navi begrenzt ist. Es ist aber möglich die IR-Sensoren der Geräte zusätzlich zur Gerätesteuerung zu installieren. Dazu wird je ein Y-Kabel (z.b. CAB-Y35MM, CAB-YRJ11, CAB-YRJ12) für den IR-Port des Gerätes benötigt. Umschaltung zwischen Gerätesteuerungsebene CH1 und CH2 Die Umschaltung auf Gerätesteuerungsebene CH1 erfolgt über langen Druck der Taste 1 (CH1 - RC Code) und die Umschaltung auf Gerätesteuerungsebene CH2 erfolgt über langen Druck und Taste 2 (CH2 - RC Code). Die funktioniert nur, wenn sich das Interface in der jeweils anderen Gerätesteuerungsebene befindet. Ist das Seite 7 von 9

11 Installation manual IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version from SW Product description This interface enables the connection of any external AV source desired (e.g. a DVD player or a DVB-T Tuner) to the BMW professional navigation system (E46, E38, E39, E53, E83, E85, Mini) and controlling two AV sources via the navigation keys and the multiple function steering wheel. If two AV sources are connected, one of the sources must have an AV input. The AV source with the AV input is connected to the interface using its AV output and the AV input to the second AV source's AV output. The TV standards PAL and NTSC are supported, however the AV sources should all be FIRMLY set to one standard. If installed, the factory CD-changer can be used in combination with the interface. Installation location The interface is connected to the radio module and to the navigation computer. The radio module and navigation computer are located at the rear end for the 3 series (E46), 5 series (E39) and 7 series (E38) on the left-hand side (the 7 series has the radio module behind lining in the car wing) The BMW X5 (E53) radio module is underneath the boot lining, next to the battery. The navigation computer is located on the left-hand side behind the boot lining. Installation Video at the navigation computer Wait until the navigation computer is shut down and then disconnect the battery. Disconnect the blue 18-pin socket from the navigation computer and connect it to the counterpart of the interface cable set. Connect the 18-pin socket mounted on the interface cable set to the navigation computer. Seite 2 von 9

12 Installation manual IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version from SW Installation audio at the radio module Exceptional case, vehicles with factory DSP amplifier If the vehicle is with factory DSP amplifier, it is possible, that the CD-changer sound is not connected to the analogue input of the radio module, but to the digital input (44.1khz) of the factory DSP amplifier. In this case an analogue-digital converter or a digital output (44.1khz) of the source(s) is required and this part of the manual (connection at the radio module) can be skipped. If the factory CD-changer is installed, it is possible to check prior to installation of the interface whether it is connected to the factory DSP amplifier with a digital coax cable. If no factory CD-changer is installed, it is possible to check whether the factory DSP amplifier has a digital connector (SMB). If so, it is only possible to check whether the system is coded to analogue or digital by try-and-error. Radio module with Quadlock connector and in combination with factory CD-changer Loosen the Quadlock socket connected to the radio module. Loosen the 12-pin socket from chamber A of the Quadlock socket. Vehicle 12-pin socket Push the insert from 12-pin socket's plastic cap from the side. Vehicle 12-pin socket Connect the 12-pin socket of the vehicle harness to the interface s 12-pin male jack. Make sure that the arrows on both black plastics are on the same side and pointing in opposite directions. Interface 12-pin male jack Fahrzeug 12-Pin socket Insert the interface s black 12-pin socket into the white cap, connect it back into the Quadlock socket and the Quadlock socket back to the navigation computer. 13 Installation manual IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version from SW Radio module with Quadlock connector WITHOUT factory CD-changer installed Installation is analogue to system with factory CD-changer installed. Only there is no 12-pin socket on the vehicles harness. The male 12-pin connector of the interface is not used and should be isolated. Radio module with round-pin connector and in combination with factory CD-changer Expel the pins with the audio lines from the interface harness Loosen the round-pin socket from the radio module. Loosen the 10-pin CD-changer socket of the round-pin socket. Vehicle 12-pin socket Obeying the below pin-configuration, pin the female pins of the interface audio cable in the 10-pin CD-changer socket and connect the corresponding female pins of the vehicle harness to the male pins of the interface audio cable (make sure to isolate all connections). Interface pin audio-cable 10-pin socket red pin 2 white pin 1 black pin 6 Connect 10-pin CD-changer socket into the round-pin socket and the round-pin socket back to the radio module. Radio module with round-pin connector WITHOUT factory CD-changer installed Installation is analogue to system with factory CD-changer installed. Only there is no 10-pin socket on the vehicles harness. Shorten the interface 10-pin socket for to chambers (after expelling all the pins). Obeying the above pin-configuration, pin the female pins of the interface audio cable in the to 10-pin shortened socket. The pins of the male 12-pin connector of the interface are not used and should be isolated. Connect the shortened 10-pin socket to the CD-changer port of the radio module while making sure that the correct pins are used. Fasten the 10-pin socket in the round-pin connector to avoid later disengagement. Seite 4 von 9

14 Installation manual IF-BMWIBCAVDC Version from SW Installation AV and device control cables Connect the AV source(s) to the IR control cable at the 3-pin AMP socket (please refer to the device control). Connect the AV output for the first AV source with the AV input for the interface with cinch cables (not included in the scope of delivery). Settings menu for the interface Before the interface can be used, you must make some settings in the interface settings menu. You can access the settings menu via the on-board screen. Accessing the settings menu Press the "MENU" key 3 times to access the settings menu (VI SETTINGS) for the interface. Use the right-hand knob to make changes within the settings menu. Press the "MENU" key once to exit the settings menu. Audio settings Set the audio setting to "CD" and "CD EMU OFF" if factory CD-changer is installed. If there is not factory CD-changer, set to "CD EMU ON" Rear view camera function If the interface rear view camera function is to be used, set to "RVC: ON". In this mode, the video input is automatically activated when the reverse gear is engaged. Seite 5 von 9

Each level can be used to select a fixed device from the device control table. From the list of devices to select, first take the corresponding control channel numbers from the device control table. Store this at device control levels CH1 and CH2. Video settings The interface has its own video settings mode. In order to enter this mode, set to "Video Set:ON". Exit the settings menu and activate the interface as the current AV source (see below). Use the "1 <> 4", "2 <> 5", "3 <> 6" keys to change the video values by pressing them briefly To exit video settings mode access the settings menu and set to "Video Set:OFF". When the ignition is off, the video settings mode is automatically exited. Contrast Colour saturation Brightness - + Activation of the interface as current audio video source The AV function of the interface is activated by pressing the MODE-key (depending on the current mode of the system, it has to be pressed several times). At first the system will switch the picture back to factory picture after a few seconds. Use the picture switch key to go back to interface picture. The picture switch key can also be used at any time to go back to the factory picture while the audio will stay tuned to the interface audio. Device control You can use the interface to connect and control two devices. Please refer to the device control table for the controllable devices. A matching IR control cable CABI2- xxx (please refer to the device control table) is required for each device and must be ordered separately. If two devices are to be controlled, a 3pin AMP Y cable CABI2-Y3P is required (male connector to two female). The 3pin plug is inserted in the interface cable 3pin bush loom of cables or the Y-Adapter CAB-Y35MM, the respective opposite side of the IR control cable is inserted in the corresponding device's IR port.
