4 Werkzeug-Beispiele Example Tools Wendeschneidplatten- und Kombinationswerkzeuge sind aus modernen Fertigungen nicht mehr wegzudenken. NAWA bietet durch ein Wendeplattensystem mit spezieller Verzahnung heute ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal, das kombinierbar vom Einsteckbohrer oder Stufenbohrer bis zum Gewindefräser und Bohrgewindefräser ist. Neben der hochgenauen Austauschbarkeit sind die Wendeschneidplatten auch beschichtbar oder können mit PKD oder CBN bestückt werden. Kombinationswerkzeuge vermeiden zusätzliche Werkzeugwechsel und Werkzeugplätze sowie das nochmalige Positionieren des Werkzeuges im Bearbeitungsprozess. NAWA has built up a singular system of indexable inserts with a special serration feature which permits free combination from plug drill or stepped drill to thread milling cutter and thriller. In addition to the high-precision design for safe insert change, the inserts can be surface-coated and can alternatively be PCD- or CBN-tipped. Combination tools help to avoid additional tool change and loss of tool space, as well as the repeated positioning of the spindle in the machining process. 6 PKD- und CBN-Präzisionswerkzeuge PCD and CBN Precision Tools PKD ist ein synthetisch hergestellter polykristalliner Diamant, der erst durch Sintern bei hohen Drücken und Temperaturen seine überragende Härte und Festigkeit erhält. Er kommt für Nichteisenmetalle, Kunststoffe oder Holz als Schneidwerkstoff in gelöteter Form oder auf Wendeschneidplatten zur Anwendung. Die hohe Verschleißfestigkeit dieses Werkstoffes erschwert gleichzeitig die wirtschaftliche Bearbeitbarkeit durch konventionelle Fertigungsverfahren. Für die Bearbeitung sind deshalb besondere maschinelle Einrichtungen notwendig. NAWA hat die Vorteile dieses Schneidstoffes schon frühzeitig erkannt und sich auf die Anwendung und Herstellung der Werkzeuge eingerichtet. Wir können, speziell für fein abgestimmte Problemlösungen und bei den entsprechenden maschinellen Voraussetzungen, heute rechnergestütze Werkzeuggeometrien anbieten. PCD is synthetically produced poly-crystalline diamond which develops its fabulous hardness and strength only in a sinter process under high pressures and temperatures. It is a suitable cutting material for the machining of non-ferrous metals, synthetics or wood, either in PCD-tipped tools or on indexable inserts. The extremely high wear resistance of this material at the same time poses a serious problem in the production of PCD tools, making economically efficicient machining with conventional production methods very difficult. As a consequence, special machinery is necessary. NAWA recognized the advantages of this cutting material at an early stage, and began to make preparations for using and producing such tools accordingly. Today, we can offer you computer-supported tool geometries, especially for finely adjusted problem solutions and with appropriate technical pre-conditions. 6

7 PKD- und CBN-Präzisionswerkzeuge PCD and CBN Precision Tools CBN ist nach PKD das zweithärteste Material und wie dieses äußerst verschleißfest. Das cubische Bornitrid wird aus CBN-Pulver sowie weiteren verschiedenen Metallen und Keramiken ebenfalls unter hohem Druck und Temperaturen zusammengepresst. Durch die Art der Herstellung bei den relativ wenigen Lieferfirmen wird heute eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen CBN-Sorten angeboten. CBN eignet sich für die Bearbeitung von gehärteten Stählen, Grauguss, Hartguss und anderen abrasiven Eisenwerkstoffen, die ausreichende Härte (> 45 HRC) haben. Da der Schneidstoff schlecht oder nur wenig leitfähig ist, sind auch hier besondere Einrichtungen und Betriebsmittel notwendig, um ausreichend glatte Schneidkanten für den Zerspanungsvorgang herzustellen. NAWA wählt die für Ihren Bearbeitungsprozess geeignete Sorte aus und verwendet diese bei der Herstellung der Werkzeuge. CBN is the second-hardest material after PCD and like PCD, it is extremely wear-resistant. Cubic boron nitride is produced by compressing CBN powder and other metals and ceramic materials under high pressures and temperatures. Due to this, the small number of supplier companies can offer a large number of different CBN materials. CBN is suitable for the machining of hardened steels, cast iron, hard castings and other abrasive iron materials which possess sufficient hardness (> 45 HRC). Since this cutting material offers low, or rather poor conductivity, again special installations or facilities are necessary for the production of cutting edges sufficiently smooth for a machining process. NAWA will select the CBN grade which is most suitable for your individual machining task, and use if for the production of your own special tools. 7

8 Wendeschneidplatten Indexable Inserts Wendeschneidplatten sind aus modernen Fertigungen nicht mehr wegzudenken. NAWA liefert auch hier kein Standard-Katalogprodukt, sondern immer eine auf den Bearbeitungsvorgang oder die Gesamtlösung abzielende Auswahl. Natürlich werden die beim Kunden vorhandenen Wendeschneidplatten bei entsprechender Plausibilität und technischer Machbarkeit verwendet. Unsere langjährige Erfahrung im Entwurf und der Fertigung ermöglichen es, Ihnen eine optimale Problemlösung anzubieten. Sorgfältige Auswahl des Schneidstoffes sowie exakte Festlegung der Geometrie und der Oberflächengüte runden das ab, was Sie von NAWA bei dieser Technologie erwarten können. Indexable inserts form an indispensable part of modern production. Again, NAWA does not supply a standard catalogue programme but only custom-made special tools for the individual application case or the overall solution. Of course, the preferred choice is always to work with the customer s existing inserts if this is at all technically possible. 10 Vollhartmetall-Präzisionswerkzeuge Solid Carbide Precision Tools Hartmetalle sind durch Sintern hergestellte Verbundstoffe. Sie bestehen überwiegend aus Wolframcarbid und dem Bindemittel Kobalt. Je nach Hersteller sind noch andere Hartstoffe wie Titan- und Tantalcarbid eingebunden. Hartmetall hat eine hohe Verschleißfestigkeit und Kantenstabilität. Arbeitstemperaturen bis 900 C sind möglich. Zähigkeit und Härte sind abhängig von der Zusammensetzung, speziell von den Anteilen des TiC, TaC und WC. Mit Hartmetall kann man neben Stahl und Gusseisen auch Glas oder Porzellan spanend bearbeiten. Entsprechend geeignete Beschichtungen erhöhen die Verschleißfestigkeit. NAWA wendet Hartmetall bei vielen Lösungsvorschlägen an, speziell auch dort, wo die herzustellenden Stückzahlen beim Kunden die teueren Ausführungen wie PKD oder CBN nicht wirtschaftlich erscheinen lassen. Dieser Schneidwerkstoff findet auch noch in Lötausführung Anwendung, als preisgünstige Variante, wenn z.b. der Schaft aus Stahl gefertigt wird. Carbides are compound materials produced in a sintering process. They consist mainly of tungsten carbide and cobalt which is used for bonding. Depending on the manufacturer, other hard materials like titanium carbide or tantalum carbide may form a component of carbide. Carbide offers a high degree of wear resistance and edge stability. Work temperatures of up to 900 C are possible. Toughness and hardness depend on the composition of the individual carbide, especially on the percentage of TiC, TaC and WC. Carbide can be used for the machining of steel or cast iron, but also for glass or porcelain. An appropriate coating will generally increase wear resistance. NAWA uses carbide materials for a great number of solutions, especially in those cases where production quantities do not allow an economically efficient use of expensive PCD or CBN tools. Carbide as cutting material can also be used for brazed tools as an economical solution, e.g. when the shank of the tool is made of steel. 10

12 HSS-Präzisionswerkzeuge HSS Precision Tools Hochleistungs-Schnellarbeitsstahl (HSS) ist ein hochlegierter Werkzeugstahl, der besonders zäh und unempfindlich gegen schwankende Kräfte ist. Die Arbeitstemperatur kann bis zu 550 C betragen. HSS wird für Werkzeuge verwendet, die den Einsatz von Hartmetall oder Wendeschneidplatten nicht zulassen. Zusätzlich können HSS-Werkzeuge auch noch mit allen gängigen Beschichtungen versehen werden. High-speed steel (HSS) is a high-alloyed tool steel which offers special toughness and high resistance against constantly changing forces. Work temperatures can be allowed to rise as high as 550 C. HSS is used for tools which do not permit the use of carbide or of indexable inserts. In addition, HSS tools can be provided with all the commonly used surface coatings. 12

14 Hartmetall-gelötete Präzisionswerkzeuge Brazed Carbide Precision Tools Hartmetall-gelötete Werkzeuge erlauben eine Kombination aus verschleißfester Hartmetall-Schneide und zähem Trägerwerkstoff, mit dem Vorteil eines kostengünstigen Werkstoffeinsatzes. Der Trägerwerkstoff kann durch zusätzliche Wärmebehandlung wie z.b. Vergüten oder Nitrieren auf die Anforderungen abgestimmt werden. Die Hartmetall-Schneiden können zusätzlich mit gängigen Beschichtungen versehen werden. Brazed carbide tools permit the combination of a wear-resistant carbide cutting edge on one hand, and a tough tool body on the other hand, with the advantage of an economically efficient tool solution. The tool body can be adjusted to the requirements of the individual application by an additional heat treatment like temper hardening or nitriding. The carbide cutting edges can be provided with an additional surface coating. 14
