The Cat.5 FireWire Extender is capable of sending FireWire IEEE1394 signals via a Cat.5e/6 cable up to 75 metres, at data rates of up to 400Mbps. User Manual English Installation There are two Cat.5 FireWire Extender units supplied, both units can act as either the transmitter or receiver. 1. Connect one of the FireWire Cat.5 Extender units to the host computer using a standard FireWire 800 cable, or using one of the supplied FireWire 800 6 Pin to 9 Pin adapter cables, according to the available ports on your computer. 2. Attach one end of the supplied Cat.5e crossover cable to the FireWire Cat.5 Extender unit and then attach the other end to the supplied coupler. 3. Attach the supplied Power Adapter (9V, 0.3A) to the other FireWire Cat.5 Extender unit, which will be used at the remote end of the cable. 4. Connect one end of a Cat.5e or Cat.6 cable, up to 75m in length, to the coupler and the other end to the remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender unit. Cat.5e Crossover Cable Host Extender Remote Extender Coupler Cat.5e/6 Cable 5. Check that the LED indicator on both the host and remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender units are illuminated solid green. If the indicators are not lit at all then please check each connection. If the indicators are dimly lit, or flickering it is necessary to reduce the Cat.5e/6 cable length. 6. Using a standard FireWire 800 cable, or using the remaining supplied FireWire 800 6 Pin to 9 Pin adapter cable, according to the available port on your FireWire device, connect the remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender unit to your FireWire Device. 7. Operate the FireWire Device in the same way as if it was directly connected to your computer. - 3 -

Verbinden Sie einen FireWire Cat.5 Extender mit dem Host Computer. Verwenden Sie dazu ein Standard FireWire 800-Kabel oder eines der gelieferten FireWire 800 6Pol an 9Pol Adapterkabel, je nach den an ihrem Computer vorhandenen Anschlüssen. 2. Verbinden Sie ein Ende des Cat.5e Crossoverkabels mit dem FireWire Cat.5 Extender, dann verbinden Sie das andere Ende mit dem Coupler. 3. Stecken Sie das Netzteil (9V, 0.3A) in den zweiten FireWire Cat.5 Extender, der nun am entfernten (remote) Kabelende eingesetzt wird. 4. Verbinden Sie das eine Ende eines Cat.5e- oder Cat.6-Kabels (bis 75m Länge) mit dem Coupler und das andere mit dem entfernten Remote Cat.5 FireWire Extender. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein, überprüfen Sie bitte die einzelnen Verbindungen. Leuchten die LEDs nur ganz schwach oder flackern sie, sollte die Kabellänge reduziert werden. 6. Den Remote FireWire Extender können Sie nun je nachdem welcher Anschluss an Ihrem FireWire Device verfügbar ist - mit einem FireWire800 Standardkabel oder dem beiliegenden FireWire800 6Pol- an 9Pol-Adapterkabel am FireWire Device anschließen. 7. Das FireWire Device funktioniert nun in derselben Weise wie bei direktem Anschluss an Ihrem Computer. - 6 -

Collegare una delle due unità ad una porta FireWire libera sul computer tramite un cavo FireWire 800 standard oppure utilizzando uno dei cavi FireWire 800 6 Pin a 9 Pin incluso nella fornitura. 2. Collegare il cavo crossover Cat.5e incluso nella fornitura nella relativa porta sull Extender e collegare l altro capo alla doppia femmina. 3. Collegare l alimentatore (9V, 0.3A) all altra unità dell Extender, quella utilizzata come unità remota. 4. Utilizzare un cavo Cat.5e o Cat.6 lungo al massimo 75m (non incluso) per collegare la doppia femmina all unità remota.
