Das Produkt entspricht dann den Vorschriften der VO (EG) Nr. 834/2007 in Verbindung mit VO (EG) Nr. 889/2008 und VO (EG) Nr. 1235/2008. This product data sheet applies also to organic curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza). The product corresponds then to the requirements of regulation (EC) no. 834/2007 in conjunction with regulation (EC) no. 889/2008 and regulation (EC) no. 1235/2008. Herstellungsverfahren Das ätherische Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) wird durch Wasserdampfdestillation der getrockneten Wurzelstöcke der Javanischen Gelbwurz (Curcuma xanthorriza) gewonnen. Dabei dient heißer Wasserdampf als Trägerstoff für die leicht flüchtigen, organischen Komponenten. Durch die Nicht- Mischbarkeit der organischen Bestandteile des ätherischen Öles und des Wassers findet beim Abkühlen eine spontane Phasentrennung statt, so dass das reine ätherische Öl abgeschieden werden kann. Die Ausbeute liegt zwischen 3.0 und 12.0%. [1,2] Manufacturing method Essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) is obtained by water steam distillation of the dried roots of the Javanese turmeric (Curcuma xanthorriza). Hot water steam is used as a carrier for the volatile organic compounds. Due to the non-miscibility of the organic compounds with water, the phases readily separate upon cooling and the essential oil can be easily separated. The yield is between 3.0 and 12.0%. [1,2] Botanischer Ursprung des ätherischen Curcumaöls (C. xanthorrhiza) Die Art Javanische Gelbwurz (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) gehört zur Gattung Curcuma (Tribus: Zingibereae, Unterfamilie: Zingiberoideae) in der Familie der Ingwergewächse (Zingiberaceae) die zur Ordnung der Ingwerartigen (Zingiberales) zählt. Vermutlich stammt die Javanische Gelbwurz aus dem Süd-Ost-Asiatischem Raum, die genaue Herkunft ist allerdings wegen der langen Kultivierungszeit unklar. Die Javanische Gelbwurz ist eine mehrjährige, krautige Pflanze und kann eine Höhe von bis zu 1.75 m erreichen. Die langen, dünnen Blätter der Pflanzen sind bis zur Hälfte miteinander verwachsen und nach oben hin etwas eingerollt. Die Blätter besitzen eine ungeteilte, bis 1.50 m lange, breit-lanzettliche oder länglicheiförmige Blattspreite, die an der Mittelrippe durch einen schmalem purpurnen Fleck gekennzeichnet ist. Die Blätter sitzen direkt auf dem Wurzelstock (Rhizom). Das knollige und dicke Rhizom ist von eiförmiger Gestalt und besitzt zahlreiche Wurzeln und viele dünne Nebenrhizome. Die großen,

Angeordnet sind sie in zapfenartigen Blütenständen in Bodennähe, die ebenfalls direkt dem Rhizom entspringen. [3] Botanical origin of essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) The species Javanese turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) belongs to the genus of curcuma (tribe: Zingibereae, subfamily: Zingiberoideae) in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), in the order of ginger-likes (Zingiberales). Probably the Javanese turmeric comes from the South East Asian regions; the exact origin is unclear because of the long cultivation time. The Javanese turmeric is a perennial and herbaceous plant, which can reach a height of up to 1.75 m. The long, thin leaves of the plant are grown together up to the half and rolled up slightly at the top. The leaves have an undivided, up to 1.50 m long, broadly lanceolate or oblong-ovate leaf blade, which is marked on the midrib by a narrow purple spot. The leaves sit directly on the root (rhizome). The bulbous and thick rhizome is egg-shaped and has many roots and many thin daughter rhizomes. The large, purple or crimson colored, funnel-shaped flowers have only one fertile stamen. They are arranged in cone-like inflorescences near the ground, which also emanate directly from the rhizome. [3] Charakterisierung Ätherisches Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) ist eine leicht bewegliche, gelbliche bis braune Flüssigkeit. Es besitzt einen arttypischen, würzig-frischen Geruch. Das ätherische Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) löst sich in Alkohol (Ethanol), Pflanzenölen und anderen ätherischen Ölen. Es ist nahezu unlöslich in Wasser. Wichtige, charakteristische Inhaltstoffe sind -Curcumen und Xanthorrhizol. In geringer Konzentration ist auch Limonen enthalten. [4,5] Characterisation Essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) is an easily movable, yellowish to brown coloured liquid. It has a characteristic, spicy and fresh scent. Essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) dissolves in alcohol (ethanol), vegetable oils and other essential oils. It is virtually insoluble in water. Important characteristic ingredients are -curcumene and xanthorrhizol. At low concentration, limonene is also included. [4,5] Arzneiliche Verwendung, Phytotherapie Die Inhaltsstoffe des ätherischen Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) besitzen eine Reihe von gesundheitlich relevanten Eigenschaften. Die medizinische Wirkung der Javanischen Gelbwurz beruht auf alten

Neuere Studien haben gezeigt, dass ätherisches Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) nachweislich bei Verdauungsbeschwerden hilft. Eine der Indikationen ist eine gestörte Fettverdauung. Ätherisches Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) fördert die Gallenproduktion und den Gallefluss. Zusätzlich hat ätherisches Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) eine entzündungshemmende Wirkung und wirkt bei Entzündungen der Gallengänge innerhalb und außerhalb der Leber (Cholangitis) und bei Entzündungen der Gallenblase (Cholezytitis). Für Curcuma xanthorriza existiert eine Monografie der Kommission E. [4,5] Medical use, phytotherapy The compounds of essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) have a number of health-related properties. The medical effect of Javanese turmeric is based on old experiences, many of which originate from the Ayurveda. Recent studies have shown that essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) is proven to help with indigestion. One of the indications is a disturbed fat digestion. Essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) promotes the production of bile and bile flow. It affects inflammation of the bile ducts inside or outside the liver (cholangitis) and inflammation of the gall bladder (cholezytitis). Therefore, essential curcuma oil (C. xanthorrhiza) has an anti-inflammatory effect. For Curcuma xanthorriza a monograph of the Commission E exists. Ätherisches Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) wird ebenfalls nur sehr selten angewandt und über die Einsatzgebiete ist nur wenig bekannt. Es soll ausgleichend und beruhigend wirken. Gleichzeitig wird dem ätherischen Curcumaöl (C. xanthorrhiza) aber auch eine anregende Wirkung zugesprochen.
