3 Culture of excellence Cultura di eccellenza Kultur der Spitzenleistung KBA-Flexotecnica, whose industrial activity is dated back to 1979, specialise in the manufacture of printing and converting machines for flexible and rigid packaging. From 1 to 12 printing units and covering printing widths from min. 600 mm (23.62 ) up to max mm (98.42 ) for varying package formats and printing speeds up to 1000 mt/min (3,281 fpm). Located in Tavazzano south of Milan, the company produces in an industrial operation of m 2 and employs approx. 150 people with in-depth knowledge and core competences. The integration into KBA Group is the starting point to broaden the product portfolio, developing hybrid lines of diversified cutting-edge technologies by utilizing the competences existing inside both companies whilst assuring a growing and stronger presence in the international market. Dal 1979 KBA-Flexotecnica è specializzata nella costruzione di macchine per la stampa e la trasformazione dell imballaggio flessibile, da 1 a 12 colori con larghezze da 600 mm fino a mm per vari formati degli imballi e velocità di produzione fino a mt/min. Situata a Tavazzano, a sud di Milano, su un area di circa mq, si avvale delle competenze di circa 150 persone. Con l integrazione nel Gruppo KBA si pongono i presupposti per ampliare ulteriormente il portafoglio prodotti, sviluppare linee ibride con tecnologie diversificate di ultima generazione, assicurare la presenza sui mercati internazionali usufruendo della rete di distribuzione e assistenza globale già consolidata. Mögliche Druckbreiten liegen zwischen 600 und mm bei variablen Drucklängen. Die maximale Druckgeschwindigkeit beträgt m/ min. Am m² großen Firmensitz in Tavazzano nahe Mailand arbeiten etwa 150 Mitarbeiter mit langjähriger Erfahrung und allen erforderlichen Kernkompetenzen. Mit der Integration in die KBA-Gruppe kommt die neue KBA-Flexotecnica S.p.A. ihrem Ziel, einer der führenden Player im Marktsegment flexibler Verpackungsdruck zu werden, ein gutes Stück näher. It makes changing sleeves easier and allows more comfortable sleeve handling for big repeats. 9 Waste reduction, enhanced productivity AIF Auto Impression Flexotecnica Innovative solution which enables the automatic control of print impression positions with less than 30 metres of material waste assuring a quick and efficient production start-up. The system is completely integrated into the new machine operator touch screen and features a simple and intuitive interface easy to operate even for the least experienced machine personnel. ARF Automatic Register Flexotecnica New system to automatically control print registration fully integrated into the new machine operator touch screen perfectly complements the AIF system and guarantees the precise registration with minimised material waste. It features an easy procedure and immediate setting of all reference parameters eased by an operator friendly graphical user interface of the new machine control system. FLEXCOLOUR MATCHING Spectro-photometric analysis of the printed product aimed at making ink colour formulation easier and quicker. It is a valuable support for the print operators that allows fast colour matching by assuring start-up in production with minimised material waste. It is engineered based on the mathematical modelling of finite volumes with increased air speed and turbulence to improve drying capacity when using both solvent-based and water-based inks on various packaging materials. The inter-colour air duct is split between air supply and exhaust on either side of the press to ensure maximum air speeds and a perfect distribution of the air across wide web widths at high speed, which is particularly important when printing with water-based inks. 11 Highly innovative drying box The geometry of the inter-colour drying box has been completely redesigned to use the flow dynamics of the blown air to optimize exhaust air recovery. This ensures an optimum drying quality whilst achieving maximum energy efficiency at high printing speeds either with solvent or water-based inks. The inter-colour drying box has been developed to allow a 180 rotation with a quick release system which does not need extracting from the printing unit and ensures easy operator access for standard cleaning operations. 1. Das neue Design des Farbzwischentrockners erlaubt eine 180 Drehung des Trockners mit einem Schnellwechselsystem ohne diesen von der Druckeinheit zu entfernen. The panels can be easily removed from the operator side for cleaning. Independent supply and extraction fans, complete with an air recycling system reduce thermal energy consumption. As an alternative to the panels with air holes, the final drying bridge can be equipped with nozzles specially designed to reduce air pressure loss and ensure maximum air turbulence at high printing speeds. 15 Modern flexographic installations can feature a combined layout designed either to apply a coating before printing (primer) or a brilliant or protective over lacquering on the printed material both required by sophisticated graphic structures of some packages. The demands when making potential investments of this scope in today s market are continuously increasing. Infinite combinations of colors, special primer coatings required on certain substrates or printing designs with sophisticated graphic artwork as well as the demands of a finish over-lacquer can all be achieved on the EVO XG 12 without jeopardizing production speeds. In addition to this a suitable choice of components allows increased process efficiency and consequently a reduction of costs in machine handling and maintenance. High efficiency motors with inverters and regenerative drives, optimised air recycling system and energy recovery together with the application of low inertia carbon fibre printing and anilox mandrels are only some of the valuable technical solutions adopted on this press range that gives evidence we are strongly pursuing our objective of utmost environmental respect.
