2 Die 4. Dimension des Heimkinos Die Migration von Flachbildschirmen auf dem Markt ist weit fortgeschritten. Die notwendige Verbindungstechnik zwischen den Geräten hat sich mit weiterentwickelt. In der Computertechnik wurde der VGA-Stecker schon frühzeitig durch den DVI-Stecker ersetzt. Im Bereich der Unterhaltungselektronik daheim war der aus der analogen Fernsehtechnik bekannte SCART-Stecker der hochauflösenden Videotechnik nicht mehr gewachsen und wurde bei einigen HD-Geräten vorübergehend durch die DVI-Technik erweitert. Im Jahre 2003 wurde für die Heimvideotechnik das High Definition Multimedia Interface - Verbindungssystem ins Leben gerufen. Der neueste Standard HDMI High Speed with Ethernet, oder 1.4, verfügt über eine im Vergleich zur vorherigen Version weitaus höhere maximale Auflösung: 4k x 2k, konkret 4096 x 2160 Pixel. Ebenfalls unterstützt wird die Wiedergabe von Videodaten in 3D. Bidirektionale High-Speed-Kommunikation mit einer Transferrate von bis zu 100 Mbit/s ist durch die Integrierung des HDMI Ethernet Channel möglich. Geschützt wird die Verbindungstechnik durch den Kopierschutz HDCP; High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. Mittels des so genannten Handshaking überprüft HDCP, ob alle angeschlossenen Geräte konform sind. Ist dies nicht der Fall, kommt keine Übertragung zustande. Dieser fortgeschrittenen Technik widmen wir einen eigenen Katalog mit aktuellen und neuen Produkten aus diesem Marktsegment. 3 The 4th dimension of Home Cinema The migration of flat screens on the market is well advanced. The necessary connection technology is equally far developed. In the field of computer technologies the VGA plug was replaced by the DVI plug early on. In consumer electronics the SCART plug, used in analogue TV technologies, was not able to keep up with high-definition video technologies and was temporarily extended through DVI. In 2003 the High Definition Multimedia Interface - connection system was initiated. Compared to the previous version, the most recent Standard HDMI High Speed with Ethernet, or 1.4, has a by far higher resolution: 4k x 2k, to be precise 4096 x 2160 Pixel. The reproduction of video data in 3D is also given. Bidirectional High-Speed- Communication with a transfer rate of up to 100 Mbit/s is possible due to the integration of the HDMI Ethernet Channel. The connection method is supported by HDCP; High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. By means of the so called Handshaking, HDCP checks if all connected devices are conform. 8 Die nächste Generation der Messtechnik HDMI High Definition Multimedia Interface ist das von Heimkino-Enthusiasten verehrte Idealkonzept für das Home Entertainment. Die Liste der Vorteile der Verwendung von HDMI ist schier endlos so denn alles einwandfrei funktioniert. 1 Genau dies können wir mit dem DSA8200 überprüfen. Der DSA8200 ist ein so genanntes Digital Sampling Oszilloskop. Primäre Aufgabe: Die Analyse von HDMI-Signalen und die Bestimmung deren Parameter. So können wir nachvollziehen, ob unsere Kabel den Spezifikationen entsprechen. 2 Mit den vormals genutzten Messgeräten im transmedia-labor wurden vor allem praktische Tests an unseren HDMI-Kabeln durchgeführt. So überprüften unsere Techniker zum Beispiel mittels des Analysators Astro VA-1809A die Qualität eines HDMI-Kabels, indem sie die Einstellungen angeschlossener Medien veränderten, sowohl Empfangs- und Ausgabegerät als auch dem übertragenden Kabel ihre Maximalleistung abverlangten. Das neue Oszilloskop testet mittels Time Domain Reflectometry. Impulse werden in das Kabel gesendet und im besten Fall am anderen Ende störungsfrei empfangen. Eventuelle Störstellen, Defekte und Diskontinuitäten bilden Reflexionen und lassen sich so leicht feststellen. Dargestellt werden die digitalen Messergebnisse in einem so genannten Augendiagramm. Generell gilt: Je weiter das Auge im Diagramm geöffnet ist, desto besser sind die Messwerte des Kabels und somit seine Qualität, siehe Bild 1. Ein negatives Messergebnis zeigt Bild 2. 8

The list of advantages knows no limits if everything works as it is supposed to. That is exactly what we review with the DSA8200. The DSA8200 is a digital sampling oscilloscope. Primary task: To analyze HDMI signals and to define its parameters. Thus we can track whether our cables correspond to their specifications. With the measuring devices formerly used in the transmedia laboratory most of all practical tests were conducted. Our technicians for example examined the quality of an HDMI cable with the Astro VA-1809A by changing the settings of the devices attached to the cable and thus demanding the maximum performance of receiver, source and the conductor in between. The new oscilloscope reviews using Time Domain Reflectory. HDMI pulses are fed into the cable and hopefully transmitted without any reflections. Defects, discontinuities and impurities disturb the transmission and are thus easily detected. The digital measuring results are displayed in the socalled Eye-diagram. In a general sense: The wider the eye in the diagram is opened, the better the test results and the quality of the cable are, see picture 1. A negative test result is shown in picture 2. 9
