Many of our lecturers are prepared to give their presentations in English if desired by the audience. Herzlich Wilkommen in Dresden! Ihre CAD-FEM GmbH und ANSYS Germany GmbH Fluid meets Structure Structural and Fluid Mechanics are constantly moving closer each other now they will be together at one of Europe s most beautiful and modern conference locations, the recently inaugurated International Congress Center in the city of Dresden. For the first time ever, the 22nd CAD-FEM Users Meeting International Congress on FEM-Technology and the ANSYS CFX & ICEM CFD Conference will be held jointly from November 10th to 12th, Two years ago, when Dresden was flooded by the overflowing waters of the Elbe river, the city impressively solved this unique fluid-structure-interaction problem. Now fluids and structures will once again be one of the most popular topics in the Saxonian metropolis. Users from both industry and research institutes will report on how they deal with the fluid and structural problems which arise during the development of new products. Fluid meets Structure is the motto for Germany s largest users conference on FEM simulation, the CAD-FEM Users Meeting, and the ANSYS CFX & ICEM CFD Conference, taking place simultaneously for the first time. Fluid and Structure Pure or Coupled The conference offers a unique range of CAE information for structural and fluid mechanics engineers even if they are not users of ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ANSYS CFX, or ICEM CFD. Lecture sessions and workshops are dedicated to a broad variety of application topics. As the coupled use of both structural and fluid mechanics is becoming increasingly important, individual sessions will deal specifically with the practical side of fluidstructure-interaction. But also new developments and trends in other areas of simulation topics will be discussed, for example material description and composites, microsystems, biotechnology, bonding, welding, forming or management of simulation data. Silicon Saxony and the Florence of the Elbe Dresden, the capital of Saxony, and its surroundings were affectionately known as the Valley of the Innocent before the reunification of Germany, because there was no western TV reception. Now, however, it is a symbol of future hightech, with industries such as microelectronics, nanosystems, or biotechnology. Many more industries have settled in Silicon Saxony, which, with the extension of the EU, is now situated in the center of Europe. Apart from trade diversity and high-tech, Dresden also offers many sights, such as the Semperoper, the Zwinger, and the Frauenkirche. An excellent excuse for combining the conference with the pleasure of visiting such an exciting city. Welcome to Dresden! Sincerely, CAD-FEM GmbH and ANSYS Germany GmbH Änderungen vorbehalten. Vorträge vorbehaltlich Freigaben. Subject to alteration of program. Lectures are subject to prior releases. 3

The tremendous impact of mathematical modelling and simulation on innovative developments has become evident in application fields like chemical processing, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, as well as in the emerging field of Lab-on-a-chip systems. In co-operation with CAD-FEM, the Institut für Mikrotechnik Mainz GmbH (IMM) is again offering a workshop on the state-of-the-art of these topics. (organized in cooperation with IMM) ANSYS PROGRAMMING COURSE - MACRO-Programming (APDL) - User Programmable Features (UPF)GU - I-Programming (UIDL) - Tcl / Tk Programming As in past years, Dr. John Swanson, the founder of ANSYS, will again give an ANSYS Programming Course this year.
