2 The Indicative MOOD We re starting with the indicative. The vast majority of sentences you use are in this MOOD. We will review how to form the past, present and future Plus how to make sentences with modal verbs (tag team verbs) And how to create sentences with subordinating conjunctions (Verb Kickers)

3 Verbs Can Be So Moody Verbs have Tenses - past, present and future But they also have moods Indicative expresses a real situation in the past, present or future Imperative expresses an order or a request Subjunctive expresses wishes, probabilities or conditions which are contrary to fact* This can also be in the past, present or future *We will mostly be working with the conditional form of the Subjunctive mood talking about conditions which are contrary to fact

If no time is indicated, then the future tense must be used.

20 The Imperative MOOD This is the type of sentence you use when you are commanding someone, making an order or request. This Mood is only expressed in the present tense There are 4 ways to form an imperative sentence Du commands Ihr commands Sie commands Wir commands

27 The Subjunctive MOOD This is used to expres wishes, probabilities and conditions that are contrary to fact. It can be used in the past, present or future We will mostly focus on the conditional formulation of the subjunctive, which focuses on conditions that are contrary to fact There is another, less common, form of the subjunctive mood which you will learn in college someday or not at all, because you will probably never work for a German newspaper. But who knows, I could be totally wrong about that.
