1 Radio Play 1 von 24 A Radio Play:The Struggle for German Unity Ideen und Anregungen zum Einsatz von Hörspielen im bilingualen Geschichtsunterricht am Beispiel der Deutschen Frage im 19. Jahrhundert (Klasse 8) Dr. Christine Tiefenthal, Hamburg The German National Assembly met in the Paulskirche in Frankfurt/ Main from 18 May 1848 to 31 May Over 500 representatives from all German states deliberated future German borders, civil rights, and a constitution. Hörspiele als Arbeitsprodukte sind eine hervorragende Möglichkeit, Schülerinnen und Schüler selbst thematische Schwerpunkte im Fach Geschichte setzen zu lassen, kreativ mit historischen Fakten umzugehen und eigenverantwortlich zu arbeiten. Besonders im bilingualen Unterricht eignet sich der Einsatz von Hörspielen, da alle language skills gebraucht und geübt werden. Was hatten sich Karl Ludwig Sand und August von Kotzebue zu sagen? Worüber haben die Abgeordneten der Frankfurter Nationalversammlung beraten? Und wie schätzt ein Historiker von heute die Revolution von 1848 ein? 3 Radio Play 7 von 24 M 1 The struggle for German unity in pictures The Congress of Vienna took place from 18 September 1814 to 9 June 1815 after the defeat of Napoleon. The main aim was the reorganisation of the European borders. Contemporary etching, coloured by J. 4 Radio Play 9 von 24 M 3 How to do a radio play Radio plays are a fun way to present historical facts. You can be as creative as you like. Follow the steps below to complete your radio play successfully. Topic: Aim: Research the topic and prepare a radio play in a group. Record it and listen to all the plays in your class afterwards. Steps: Step 1: Form groups of 2s, 3s or 4s. Step 2: Write down the names of your group members: Step 3: Read the text concerning your topic. Step 4: Get together with your group members, discuss your findings and think about an interesting way to talk about the topic (interview a person from the past, invent a scene from the past, time travel, invite somebody to a radio talk show, write a historical feature etc.). All group members should give their input. Make a decision on what you want to do and find a title. Step 5: Get back to the material and mark important information on the handout. Step 6: Group work: Write the script for your radio play together. Or: Divide the group and write different scenes/parts. Remember that everyone needs a role. Step 7: Let your teacher proof-read your work. Step 8: Copy the script for everyone. Step 9: Rehearse your play: alone and together. Step 10: Think about sound effects or music.
