European VET trainers seem to lack specialised training to effectively train young offenders on acquiring entrepreneurship skills to start a new business as a sustainable professional path; while ex-offenders tend to face discrimination, social exclusion and limited professional options when attempting to re-enter the labour market after release from prison. FRESH START addresses these issues by transferring and adapting to the exact needs of VET trainers previously developed innovative e-learning content from the LdV ENTER project to the project target countries aiming to exploit previous knowledge combined with an interactive needs analysis and the update of VET trainers skills through a sustainable training model that enables them to teach entrepreneurship to young offenders, aged 18 to 25. The project aims to develop a specialised train-the-trainer course for VET trainers to provide them with new skills that enable them to pass their training on developing young offenders entrepreneurship skills. Beschreibung: European VET trainers seem to lack specialized training so as to effectively support exoffenders to acquire new entrepreneurship skills that would enable this disadvantaged group to increase their opportunities to start a business if they want upon their release and under the proper financial conditions. They will also benefit since it will prepare and support them in developing knowledge and skills for the labour market in general if they want to find a job until they can start their own business. FRESH START will transfer and adapt to the exact needs of young offenders innovative e- learning content from the former LdV project ENTER, while it will develop new additional core content to update the skills of VET trainers and equip them to transfer the adapted and simplified innovative entrepreneurship content to meet the exact needs of young offenders. The consortium will not contact young offenders directly to train them, but VET trainers and experts working already with young offenders. The project will train VET trainers in entrepreneurship and mentoring preparing them for providing young offenders with professional orientation, mentoring, and entrepreneurship skills. The transfer of such knowledge will be a clear benefit for young offenders both at personal and professional level. End users will be male and female young offenders between years. Their conviction will be on the basis of minor offences (e.g. theft) imposing an imprisonment duration between 1-5 years and will be about to be released before trainings. By acquiring new knowledge and skills their self-esteem and self-awareness will increase and they will be able to identify their strengths, talents, inclinations and set goals for their future leaving their past behind them. Through the entrepreneurship training they will acquire knowledge about the market and how a business operates (e.g. Business Planning, Project Management, Finance, Marketing, Communication, Innovation etc.) and will also develop specific skills (e.g. decision making, time management) which will be integrated in the entrepreneurship syllabus activities. FRESH START further carries the potential that these innovative practices, tools and materials could be used with other disadvantaged groups, i.e. immigrants, long-term unemployed and returning workers in the future. In this way, the results of the proposal will offer these groups equal opportunities for VET as well as more friendly 2
