Transkript:

Mobility in the City Freight transport Freight transport is indispensable for the supply of goods to Berlin and the subsequent disposal of wastes. At the same time, freight transport is responsible for a large proportion of noise and air pollution, and gives rise to substantial expenditure on maintenance. Promotion of freight transport by rail and inland waterways, as well as environmentally friendly management of heavy-duty road traffic, are therefore high priorities. Since, the growth of the Berlin economy has gone hand in hand 62

Berlin traffic data Freight transport with an increase in freight transport. Freight transport volume increased to 32.4 million metric tons in, up from 30.1 million metric tons in. Rail freight traffic, in particular, is demonstrating positive growth. The freight transport volume increased to 5.5 million tons in, up from 4.2 million tons in. Most freight, however, continues to be transported by road. Further information on Berlin s commercial freight and port concepts can be obtained at www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.de/ verkehr/politik_planung/gueter 63
