How to change the Mechanical Seal. Remove the 3 screws form the Endcover (pos.0) on the opposite side of the leaking seal. If this is the drive end remove Key (pos.00) first. 2. Keep the shims (pos.90) which are in between the cover and the bearing together. 3. Use M6 stud and screw it into the shaft, there is also a M6 thread in.
4. You need something like a pipe that is big enough to fit over the shaft and the bearing chamber, it has to be closed on one end and in the center has to be a 8 mm bore that the stud goes through. 5. If everything fits as described above use a M6 Nut and tighten this package together. Now you will pull the Impeller against the Housing Endplate that allows you to remove everything on the opposite side because the Impeller is fixed. 6. Remove the 3 screws (pos.0) from opposite Endcover. 7. Remove Endcover (pos.20 or 25) and keep shims together. 8. Make the krone nut (pos.80) loose and remove it.
9. Remove the 6 screws (pos.0) from the bearing housing. 0. Now you should be able to remove the complete bearing housing (pos. 55) with the bearing and one half of the mechanical seal.. Use special tool to pull down the sealing bush (pos. 50) together with the bearing inner ring (pos. 65).
2. Remove mechanical seal (pos. 60) from sealing bush. 3. Make sure that everything is clean before you place the new mechanical seal. Do NOT use grease or oil to reassembly the seal, use 00% alcohol. 4. Be sure that the o ring (pos.90) is in good condition and that the place where it fits is clean, you could use a little grease for the o ring. 5. Assemble the sealing bush with the new mechanical seal onto the shaft, it should slide by hand in the position it was in before. 6. Heat up the bearing inner ring and reassemble it, use the crone nut to push the sealing bush in the right position as long the bearing inner ring is hot and wait until it is cold. This will hold everything in the correct position. 7. Remove the crone nut after everything is cooled. 8. Change the second half of the mechanical seal at the bearing housing, do NOT use grease or oil use 00% alcohol instead.
9. Make sure that the surfaces of the mechanical seals are clean, if not clean it with 00% alcohol. It must be really clean. 20. Pay attention that the o ring (pos.80) at the bearing housing is not damaged. 2. Reassemble the bearing housing without bearing and be careful that you do not damage the mechanical seal. If you hit the shaft it will break immediately. This slot must be at the bottom. 22. Tight the 6 screws from the housing. 23. Put the bearing back to the place, sometimes it will hardly go in, then it is helpful to unfix the M6 nut on the other side but do not make it completely loose.
24. Reassemble the crone nut with a little Loctite 222 and tighten it. 25. Put back the shims and the o ring (pos.85) and fix the end cover.
